    Thank you for this video! We have a ton of these spiders in our house that I’ve been scared of. Now I’m not as scared… and I kinda feel like they are on my side killing the bigger scarier spiders.

    Awesome & informative video! I have a ton in my house but I actually don’t mind them since they keep the bug count down! I love handling them especially the tiny babies. They are so cute and harmless. Sweet 8 legged friends!

    When you were showing everything under the china cabinet... it made me think how amazing the intense life and death battles that go on every single day just inches or feet away from us..... A new female spider moves in possibly already gravid... if not she becomes that way eventually.. but she fights for her life and meals every day.... then lays many eggs... protects them... again with life and death battles the next generation comes and the story starts over!! Incredible!!
    Thank you for your videos... I don't normally comment on your videos... but love all of them and learn a lot!! Thank you so much!! I hope you have a good day!!
    We are getting ready to have intense thunderstorms here!! I just made some coffee... have my curtains open to watch it... to me, there's nothing better than watching an intense thunderstorm with a cup of coffee!! Again thank you very much for your videos!!

    One thing about these spiders is they look a lot like young black widow females. However, the egg sacks give it away. The black widow makes silky pearly egg sacks as opposed to these kinda rough looking eggs. Also, from my experience they are fairly mutually exclusive so that you have one or the other. My place was quite loaded with black widows.
    Tell me if I am wrong. :)

    I let every spider friend share my home, except brown recluse. I like how they take care of the more annoying insects and don't "bug" me. Unlike the gnat swarming my beer! Also, I've seen spots just like that in my garage at 6:00, guess it's just spider poo!

    I have been bitten by this spider many many times. I build boat docks and these spiders are all over them. every time I pressure wash a deck these spiders come out of the handrails. usually every time I pressure wash I get bit between 1 and 3 times. with 36 years of doing this its fair to say yes they will bite but its not near as bad as a single fire ant sting. You may feel the bite as the venom is so mild and the fangs are big enough to notice. If your very busy when you get bitten you could overlook it at first. Normally I could feel the bite for a few hours though it was a very mild pain that would come and go. I never seen more than a tiny raised mark with 2 tiny holes from the fangs which would completely disappear later that day. The feeling is similar to the fire ant but half as strong and don't last near as long. Honestly I'd feel comfortable saying I have been bitten around 100 times and would rather be bitten from this spider than the sting of the fire ant which really isn't that bad either. The fire ant is more noticeable pain and will easily be felt over a full day and leave a nice little bump for several days. I don't blame the spiders for biting me as I'm washing them out of their home so they're pretty upset about it so I just flick them off and continue about my day. I have never needed to treat a bite either.

      Thanks for the info! I'm glad the bites aren't too bad.

      I've been sleeping on a couch for a month straight now and I kept getting bites filled with pus for a week straight. They are painful and take like another week to fully heal. I decided to clean the couch and found a Triangulate Cobweb Spider sitting under the couch and two other smaller spiders but they were so small I didn't deem them a danger. Why is everyone saying these spiders are pretty much harmless?? The bites are quite painful and every bite has a bit of pus. Am I getting my facts wrong? I seriously need help understanding this spider

      @@patayder566 everyone reacts differently to mild spider bites. You are probably a bit more sensitive to the venom. There are many bites or stings that are harmless to many but there are the small few that just don’t do so well. Call it your bad luck. It’s a coin toss until you know which side you land on.

      Thank you! And I thought about pointing it out, but it's actually a Brown Recluse shed. I didn't see it until I was editing the video, and I meant to point it out, but I forgot. 🤣 Good eye, though!

    So funny that you describe the exact same behaviour I observed with my spider in the bathroom. I keep wondering how it survives there as I have very little (none?) insects in my bathroom. But everytime I take a shower the spider gets active and crawls up and down the humid tiles or hangs in the air apprently absorbing moisture from the air around it. How interesting that you saw that too! Does it help the spider to survive longer without food, what do u reckon?...

    • @randyadventure
      @randyadventure  8 дней назад +1

      Thank you! And how they survive when insects aren't as prevalent is beyond me. I hope to someday speak to an arachnologist about that subject. However, I imagine that they use up less energy and probably have a metabolism that slows during those times, such as winter. Additionally, I do know that these spiders will also consume a lot of tiny insects that might fly into the home, insects that we can barely see. And I think the availability of that moisture does help them survive longer without food. If I communicate with an arachnologist about these questions, I will let you know ASAP!

    I found your videos through the article you wrote when I searched to find out about my little bathroom spider. 😂 I found her a few months ago and named her Little Mama. She just spun her 3rd brood the other day! It took me forever to figure out what she was lol
    I'm letter her be to do her own thing but is there any advice on how I could make sure she has her best life?

    • @randyadventure
      @randyadventure  Месяц назад +1

      I don't really have any advice except to make sure she doesn't get disturbed. If I see one that has set up shop in a bad place, lol, I will gently relocate her, usually using a piece of tissue paper. Interestingly enough, there is another spider that has made her home in the same corner of the bathroom. She is most likely the daughter of the one I featured in the video. The other day, when there was steam rising, she, too, came out and gathered moisture from her web, lol. However, and I'm not sure how you'd feel about this, but last winter I did feed a few of these spiders during the winter when the pickings were slim. I fed them small mealworms which I purchased at a pet supply store.
