I was apart of a group of 5 people who just helped with a restoration project. Tilly is standing strong!! She just got a fresh coat of paint and much more. We camped out for 4 days and 3 nights. Nothing spooky or ghostly. It was a once in a life time experience
see your footage for a new film... collaborate with local writers... geeze.... a thriller for sure... geeze this has all the material for a nice film... or film noir
The GE guy undoubtedly learned about wave action. Every time a wave small or large wave hits the island cliff the whole rock island shakes. Not a relaxing place for a comfort creature from an office environment.
We don't hear much about big wave surfing off the coast of Oregon. However, a renowned big wave surfer from Hawaii talked about a record 125 foot wave that hit a famous lighthouse in Oregon. I think this is the one he was talking about.
@@LardGreystoke Exactly. In order to keep a modern system or anything operating on that rock, you'd need 24/7 supervision and maintenance. The ocean always wins.
The risk of someone's life to man the lighthouse a 100 years ago was worth it to save all the lives on the boats that it serviced today we have radar so putting lives in danger is not as necessary
We'll just wait and see how well that you can fend for yourself at her age. If you even have the strength, the courage, the self determination to make the attempt. Growing old, if you do, is the most difficult thing that you will ever do. It's definitely not childs play. You should be ashamed of yourself.
In '78 the man that worked at GE was interviewed, he bought it in '73 for $10000. Him, his wife and friends would go there and stay for vacation every year. He sold it in '79 for $50000. Someone didn't do to good of job on researching it for this story...

We can go to space. Replace pieces in the human body. Go so many miles deep in the ocean, but we can’t restore a light house that people built that didn’t have the tools , materials and know how we have today.? No wonder we think we have arrived when we build a metal building.
you would think that the GE exec would have taken the time to go out there and really evaluate the situation before pumping cash into a deal like that. Geez, how do those guys get those kind of lofty jobs in the first place?
@Just Looking Geologic Map of the Tillamook Highlands, Northwest Oregon Coast Range report says this. " Marine mud-stone and sandstone are inter-bedded with all of the volcanic units and comprise most of the late Eocene to Miocene strati-graphic section that forms the flanks of the Coast Range uplift. " So goes the geology of the lighthouse rock. Your quite correct on that speculation. Very good!
I watched John Carpenter's " The Fog" in 1980 and have been fascinated with Lighthouses and the lore of the sea ever since. It's a shame that something so incredible is left to rot. It should be fixed up and reinforced have the latest tech available. Like the old saying goes " Can put a man on the Moon"
@Mike Hegarty I gave a buck to a homeless guy 3 weeks ago(he took it ,offered to buy him food too(didn't want it) he bought booze, got blasted and needed the police to call him an ambulance,a few days later I see him walking into a liquor store. Some homeless should just be euthanized to end their suffering and save us all on time, Money should go to saving animals instead and buying and protecting their habitat, with 7 billion plus of us we can afford to kill of 5 billion including the unsaveable of the homeless.
That's one of the creepiest looking lighthouses I've ever seen. But still not as creepy as someone who would vandalize someone's ashes. The story about the GE exec restoring the lighthouse is bunk. There's a RUclips video showing him, his wife and some friends in 1978 at the lighthouse. They did a little cleanup and brought in a generator, but that's hardly "restoring it." The bird shit and stench ran them off in quick order... lol. Here's the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/kiHKTNhK8Iw/видео.html
Every light house is haunted it make a great story,as for not being able to get builders on? old guys built the place by hand,The will to restore and funds are lacking.

That’s awesome thank you for sharing, it must have been exciting.
It was a pleasure to provide the drone footage used. Thank you for the opportunity to share it with the rest of the country. :)

You do know its a colabraum right?
Should be restored and automated and used as an actual light house
I've been around the rock while out boating and fishing. There is no place to safely dock. And if one were built, it wouldn't last a season.
We drove by and went to the Tillamook cheese factory....loved this...I still eat the cheese. Yum! Never heard of the light hse.

If it could be built using yesterday's technology, then it can be rebuilt using today's technology.
And completely destroyed by tomorrow's weather.
I would say no if it uses hadmade stone

That lady’s fingernails were the scariest part of this story!
I think she painted them with a roller.
Coinucopia probably shouldn’t use spray paint on them anymore.

Good God, Elaine Trucke is gorgeous. A beautiful face, intelligence, charm and those glasses. She is a prize all right.

I’m just glad that the dog was alright.
Lovely video. Thanks for sharing it.
"for a two hour tour"
Interesting. It looks like the kind of thing one would more expect to find on one of the islands surrounding Britain.
Or Ireland
Female anchor... "Well that drone video was incredible"
You mean the 4 second clip you showed in your story?
Yea it was SO AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE!!!
Oregon's historic unknowns have become an interest to me. Great reporting.

Imagine having to work with that girl with the glasses all day. The fuckin drama.
The ge exec sold it immediately because the internet was too slow and he couldn’t binge watch two and a half men.
Did someone buy it
Fantastic. I'd love to spend some time there.
I’m from Seaside. I never met anyone who thinks spirits of the dead roam the grounds.
You don’t see it from the “Tillamook area,” you see it from Seaside or Cannon Beach.
The best view is from the Tillamook coastal trail. Amazing views!
Ian Alexander - You mean on Tillamook Head, which is not in the “Tillamook area.”
It needs to be restored it would be great to stay once restored.
I love Tillamook cheddar.
I personally would hate to have to live on a lighthouse like that in the middle of nowhere.
Gonnae no dae that?
Say that to the person who bought Ronancarrigmore
The reporter didn't even go to the lighthouse, I don't know what I was expecting.

Very rare only countries with any serious number of Rock lights are France,Ireland,England,Wales and Scotland
Is it currently for sale
The ghost said it was full of bird sh*t and went back to Cape Meares Light.
if session 9 can make a movie of it... surely the creative minds in Oregon can make a great film with this! geeze
Your researcher should be fired. Your report about the GE exec who owned it is completely incorrect.
The sea never had that rock so it can't RECLAIM it. It can only claim it.

Does the lighthouse still work? Is it still operational
Decommissioned in 1957.
American sees thing "It's haunted !"
did u guys land on gilligans island???
It's not reclaiming it, its destroying it.

Guilty 😂
im not here from the tik tok but im guessing it was something about how much that girl looks like dixe
@@LoganNagol no actually it was this guy talking about islands no one will buy for even 1 dollar 😂
It is for sale now for 6,5 million dollars.
All they have to do is build long enough boat dock. We have similar island near where I live rough water and we have a long peir/boat dock
Yep, it's haunted. Obviously.
It just needs a hotdog cart there
Are you any relation to Darnell K Koin, the guy that put chains on his hired hand, then done away with his self?
What's so interesting here - Island for sale?
The "history" starts with someone killed during construction. What's the background on the reason for the lighthouse?
Lighthouses are nautical beacons used to warn ships of impending dangers during inclement weather.
I’ve seen the mysterious light on top of the lighthouse glowing at night only to find out in hasn’t been operational in decades.
No you havnt. Quit lying about seeing "ghost lights" because that doesnt happen
That's crazy. I believe you man.
I saw it too.

The light people see is probably young guys fuckin around drinkn or exploring then take off in their boat
The dead love being there!
No they don't, they love it.
Let It Go
I'd have the military use it for target practice, it would look natural again in about 15 minutes.
trust the americans to still try and profit from a cursed, damned rock.

Why do you yanks have to make these programs like you do ,
1 mile is not hard to get to.
Absolutely ridiculous people believing ghosts are on the island, dumber to have built the light house in the first place
Whats so dumb about building a lighthouse there? It was needed so it was built.
