I don't pity this guy. He knew she loved someone else but when she mistakenly said his name on their wedding night he lost his mind with jealousy and punished her endlessly thereafter. He is a fool and a maniac. Men do realize their physical strength and use it to control the woman through fear. Then they convince her it is her fault. Since we must see this stuff I hope some abused woman somewhere is seeing herself in all these dramas and comments and somehow find the strength to get help and escape this life. I have noticed that we don't always see ourselves in the mirror but photographs don't lie. That is because we can see outside of ourselves much more clearly and objectively than our internal reasoning will allow.

There is no green hat, no cuckold except in his mind. She is not cheating. It is a small town. She will run into her former love and have reason to see him. I believe he is close to her parents. If she so much as says hello her husband imagines they are falling into bed. She is just trying to live her life. She does not deserve her husband's judgment and punishment. He is the one comparing himself to the other man and coming up short. His disappointment is his problem not hers. He knew she didn't love him going in and she was willing to sincerely try but he is driving her away and hating her for it.
Yes, @Bel, I noticed that in 90% of Chinese dramas, slapping, choking, being rape , men gossiping like women. They excuse their frustration on the wives and children, especially their daughters. Chinese drama will not be a good drama without aggressiveness of all levels. The same scripts but different faces. The rich men beat their wives, but they can not smell evil and manipulating women. How can a CEO be a head of a company and can tell when another man is after his company but can not tell when a mistress is conning him .
The 1st one shocked her. The 2nd slap sent her out the door as safely and quickly as possible. Do men not get how physically intimidating they are? When he kneeled by her I expected her to recoil. 😢☹️😞
