Big Nord fan here, with a criticism to make. I switched to Nord 8 years ago, having worked with Roland, Yamaha and Korg keyboards before that, and I am absolutely in love with this brand, couldn't imagine going back. They are hugely expressive, performance-oriented instruments, not just in terms of the actual sounds, and what you can actually do with them on the fly. Fanboy stuff aside, I've got to say they have a really stupid product range strategy: They have to introduce absurd limitations on the Electro range so they can keep coming out with small incremental 'improvements' as an excuse for a new model, or persuade you to buy the Stage. "Now you can Split and Layer sounds with your $2000! keyboard" Wow! Seriously?? Get a second-hand Stage 2 (if you can find one) and you'll have FAR more features than this for a similar price.
I agree. Nord sounds are out of this world, especially concerning the pianos. But - all Electros have less than 88 keys. Piano 3 only has 40 polophony for the stereo piano samples. That narrows it down to the Stage 3 for me, though the Piano 4 just came out. And even that has only 1 gb storage as opposed to the Stage 3 which has 2.
I was going to say almost the same, " "Now you can Split and Layer sounds with your $2000! keyboard" Wow! Seriously?? ", this last week i was going to a second hand Electro 3, and after i discover all pro/cons of nord, makes me start saving money for something else, they sound nice, and you can get the work done with them, but honestly for that price, i might be considering getting something else.
@@MusicalMissCapri I'm planning on buying an electro 6 and just hooking it up to a nice 88 key midi controller, would still be cheaper than a stage 3 while being about as useful (except for the synth thing)
Hi Thanks for the video I received my Nord 6 today do you know if I can use 2 midi channels in my Daw? For example organ on midi channel 1 and for example strings or another sinstrument on channel 2 if you know what I mean. Thanks Gr.Ness
I had the same thought...was kind of surprised they brought this out as soon as they did. Thought they would milk the electro 5 for another year at least.
Does this have a bass sustain option on the organ pedal/left hand? Hammond have added this feature to sk and it is quite good. It wasn't on the B or C but was on later models.
Ha ha ha, are you serious ? That's a sort of normal thing on most good keyboards since the early nineties, I remember a Roland synth I had on appro that I was using that was eight part multi-timbral and that was 1994 !
we don't need any electro 5 is ok already. btw i am wondering something.. where is god damn pitch and mod wheel ???? is it really cheap keyboard???? if it has a sample and synth stuff you should put pitch and mod !
Nord is petty for releasing the keyboard this early. I just bought the five a few months before this came out and they could have easily implemented that stuff onto there.
Does anyone even make 512MB or 1GB chips anymore? Is the reason these things are so expensive because the component manufacturers are charging a premium for 15 year old parts?
Gordon Chin keyboard companies usually make their proprietary chipset for their keyboards like Yamaha does for their Flash. Unlike computers, keyboard players expect for there to be no interruption or wait to activate a sound. In the case of Nord, their memory usage is slightly different because they heavily compress their samples. People that are paying Nord price are serious about it and know the compensation. Even though polyphony still sucks on their sample section, it is based upon how many notes you press, not the value of each note worth. Every note has one value meaning you can layer it as much as you want; it will just eat into the memory instead.
As a Nord user, I have to agree, with qualifications: - The sounds may not be the best, but some of them are very unique and have a lot of character (pianos, especially). I haven't found more natural-sounding pianos on a stage instrument. It sounds like a gimmick, but I really appreciate the tiny imperfections across the range of some pianos, makes them come alive IMO. - The user experience is very different to the competition. Stock presets are often 'blah', but turn a few knobs and you can get really far-out sounds, really quick. Not for everyone, but once you get used to it it's hard to go back to menu-diving. If you want a lot of hands-on tweakability in a live situation, it would be hard to find an alternative. - Downloading new sounds is very refreshing, and it feels like you've invested in something 'future-proof'. I love checking out the website every now and then, and finding new instruments to try out. Overpriced? Definitely, especially the Electro range. If you can afford a Stage though, or find one second-hand it's pretty much all the keyboard you'll ever need. These keyboards are very unique and if that's what you're after, you pay a premium - it's how the market works.
I agree, especially on the character of the pianos, and the lack of menu-diving. It's really fun to work the sound, even as I'm playing. I think, "this could really use a little chorus," and I can make it happen without breaking stride.
We'll... I don't want that puke of keyboard wash in my band. Piano OR Hammond OR maybe some synth very occasionally. But that vomitty blah... no thanks.
you don't have a band. you're a basement rock star. and if Nord knew you wanted one of their products, they would do everything they could to prevent you from getting one. also, you're probably a broke ass nigga who couldn't afford a realistic keyboard from radio shack.
I'm a working muso dude. Last time I had keys in the band the guy was playing an ensoniq eps 16+ - which you've probably never heard of. And if Nord doesn't sell to everyone that has the cash it'll wind up just like ensoniq. You have a great day...cheers!
wow, an ensoniq. a friend of mine has an esq1 which doesn't work too well any more. Nord will be happy to sell to anyone who likes their products. but you're obviously anti Nord. you're a customer they can do without.
Wow, is that all three sections sounding at once? The crazy nice. I'm happy with my 5D, but there are definitely upgrades in there.
Finally. Features and quality justifies price. No competition here. 🎹🎧
what's the chord progression on that intro piece? I'd really like to know.

really good point :)

Maybe in a few years they will do 6 part multitimbral, just like boards from 20 years ago
Hi

02:22 Royal grand 3D song name?
Crappy church impro number 12,649
Is Ed Sheeran now working for Sound On Sound?
still no extern section... still stuck with a stage..
Maybe now I can afford a nord electro 5 haha
Imagine me being happy with my Nord electro 3....
I had the same thought...was kind of surprised they brought this out as soon as they did. Thought they would milk the electro 5 for another year at least.
how much do you think a nord electro 5 will cost now?
knowing nord, probably even more expensive now that the 6 is out
i'm looking foward for an electro 2, indeed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
why so little memory? its cheep now days. 1gb and 512 mb plz
They could not justifie the purchase of a Nord Stage anymore
they could have 100gb of memory and make no difference on the cost of production, I think
The special type of memory Nord uses is expensive. I think it cost around $300 for 1gb of it, but one of the added benefits is achieving 0 latency.
What is B3? Who is B3?
Does this have a bass sustain option on the organ pedal/left hand? Hammond have added this feature to sk and it is quite good. It wasn't on the B or C but was on later models.
3 part multi timbral?! omg, now we can throw on a extra layer of synth-pad on everything.... so lush.... a real game changer....
Ha ha ha, are you serious ? That's a sort of normal thing on most good keyboards since the early nineties, I remember a Roland synth I had on appro that I was using that was eight part multi-timbral and that was 1994 !
He’s being sarcastic Francis...
Actually I hate that easy cheap set- piano organ and a pad sounds so basic and with no emotions.
Come on man...Nord Wave 2? A new modular? How many stage pianos does one need? Give the synth people some love too!
my man!
we don't need any electro 5 is ok already. btw i am wondering something.. where is god damn pitch and mod wheel ???? is it really cheap keyboard???? if it has a sample and synth stuff you should put pitch and mod !
I have the electro 5. I love it so incredibly much but holy fuck i don't know what they were thinking not adding a pitch and mod wheel
@@DavidThackerMusic trying to pressure people to buy the stage, the electro could be way better and not increasing the price too much
Clavia is like the Apple of music.
Facts
Did Nord drop Rachel Flowers?
The new Yamaha Modx 6 is an excellent option if you can't afford this! What do you think?
Jonah Paz
Modx has great sounds - probably the best out there--but crappy keybeds and flimsy plastic build
oh? is it good?
Show timbres lindos!!!
Nord is petty for releasing the keyboard this early. I just bought the five a few months before this came out and they could have easily implemented that stuff onto there.
My Roland Juno DS does most of that for a third of the cost :/
Welcome to Nord
Are u saying there's a 2500$ board that can't do 2 samples at once? Cool
you seriously touched those knobs every 2 seconds and I didnt hear a single difference lol
bingo
And I was listening with quality phones!
Love their sounds! HATE their prices! If they have a rack or tabletop version; I’ll consider it.🤨
You expect them to sell them for 500 $🤦🏾♂️
Angelo BRuhh No! But cheaper than what they’re offering!🤨
etpslick100 I mean at least it’s more affordable than the nord stage 3
Angelo BRuhh Exactly!👍🏾
what's all this then?
are you a policeman.
certainly not

Sonho 😭❤️
I feel as though I shouldn't be underwhelmed by this premium keyboard product. But I am.
Get the REV 2 and Strymon BigSky
Great electric piano sound, but the B-3 sound wasn't impressive. Would have liked to hear more of the drawbar sounds.
Now the electro 3 is cheaper 😀
No modwhell, no pitchwhell ..OMG
Potentiometer can not be assigned.
For the price, Nord keyboards must be the most over-rated new kid on the block around...

Technology from the early 90s at the price of good modern keys. Why? These keys have a red body, yes-yes.
I can crossfade on my DX7 mk1!
niente sto qua va fuori di testa col suono del dx7, ogni video che fa suona una nord con il suono del dx7 bah....
BigoeBitto hai ragione, L ho pensato anche io. Bah !
Too much talking. split/layer is a standard. Love my electro 3 anyway.
your demo blows yo, nothin id ever do, next...
A split lol Wow Nord your only years behind!!
The Yamaha Montage is an awesome keyboard that is excellent value. The Nords looks good but are definitely overpriced.
they sound like a million dollars mate, they cheap
You can’t play an organ with weighted keys!!!!
i can - do it all the time with my band.
There’s a shallow trigger function for the organs.
So, yes you can, if you don’t bang the keys
Nord went from innovative to cheap church band sound lol
So sad so true
8 minutes to load one piano sample!
Wow, It sucks
