    Fernandez has such an entertaining and visually appealing game. Just wish she could impose just a bit more. Her loopy off pace shots are frustrating to play against but when you get your footwork adjusted, they can be easily attacked. She’ll become more dangerous in the future for sure. As I have said many times, Leylah has the attitude, and the fire inside on the court, but unfortunately she is not enough talented to beat the elite players in a consistent basis. His US Open final was a complete aberration few years back. I still insist that she does not have the strength to overpower or compete one to one with the elite players, which is a must nowadays. I wish I could be wrong, but this is reality, and the facts have shown that.

    • @tungt88
      @tungt88 Год назад

      Agree: Leylah lacks a single, decisive weapon to take full advantage of her otherwise good tactical skillset: notably, even Martina Hingis (a similarly gifted player, but on a higher level) had the incredible backhand to finish off both easy & decisive points.

      @alamin-fr8rc Год назад

      Valid comments but I see her developing a style that catch many players off guard. So many matches turn into slugfests of who can hit the ball harder. She on the other hand plays an intelligent game of speed and placement and being a lefty helps. What I see lacking is her not playing fearlessly. I think (hope) she keeps honing her skills and gets to and remains a top twenty player for years to come. Always entertaining and interesting.

      @@alamin-fr8rc Valid comment, but I still think she is not talented enough to beat in a consistent basis the elite players, because she does not have the power or weapons to do so. She has been multiple times overpowered by the elite players. Of course, she is and will be a good player, with always good attitude and fire on the court, but unfortunately seeing her in another GS final will be a tall order to be honest. How in this world will she be able to beat Sabalenka or Iga, etc? it will be impossible, unless some of them have a day off on court that day.
