Carrie, this video is such a massive help! I return to it again and again. I've used it to alter a friend's bridesmaid dress, a formal dress for myself, and am back once again to review while I whip up some georgette into a ballet skirt! Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
@Sophie Saxon This is the biggest compliment anyone could ever give! My heart is so full right now that this has helped you to such a great degree. A million thanks for watching this video, returning to it, and taking the time to leave such an encouraging comment!
I just took on a chiffon top with a peplum bottom and hadn't given a thought to hemming it. I'm so glad I found your site before I attempted it. Thank you for your guidance. :-)
Carrie, I can’t thank you enough for your tips about hemming Chiffon. I’ve looked in the past for ways to make this task easier…and never found your method until today. It was easy, even pleasurable, to hem a friend’s bridesmaid dress. I can finally hem with results I’m proud of! Thank you so much!
I am so VERY happy that you were able to use this method to help you successfully hem a bridesmaid dress! Truly, it makes my day when people take the time to leave wonderful comments like this! Thank you for commenting, and most of all, I'm so happy with your successful hemming!!!
OH PLEASE DON’T cry! 😢 (Though I understand where you’re coming from!) Truly I hope my video will help you to get a successful rest. Let me know how it all turns out, and dry those tears! ❤️😊
Thank you! I am hemming a bridesmaid dress for my daughter-in-law who will be 8.5 months pregnant in her dress. Intuition told me to attach a pillow to my dress form and use it to mark the hem instead of marking it on the ironing board as I usually do. Needless to say I was thrilled I got that part right. At that point I was clueless and have always avoided chiffon (I'm only been sewing for 55 years!) but now have the confidence to go for it. So excited - I subscribed!
WELCOME to my channel!!! Yes!! A pillow attached to your dress form! Brilliant!! I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the hemming. I hope it turns out perfectly, with much less frustration than you've had in the past. Thanks so very much for subscribing and commenting!
This is such a blessing. Have to hem my daughter’s dress for the oldest brother’s wedding this spring. This tutorial makes this seem doable. I will try and build up the courage to begin this daunting task. 😊 As I’ve read through the comments, a thought came to mind….perhaps we can do a practice run along what will become the waste fabric that gets trimmed off. In other words, make a practice hem way below where you are actually going to hem the dress. Also, as someone mentioned; make sure the wearer tries on the dress in the shoes they are wearing for the event. Especially with a floor length gown.
Yes! Excellent reminders: ALWAYS have the wearer wear shoes that are either the ones they will wear, or the same height, and PRACTICE on the hem you know you’ll be cutting away. This is what I do! All sheers are not the same and can behave differently. Thank you for mentioning these important issues in your comment ❤️I wish you well with your hemming of your daughter’s dress. If you have any tips or suggestions for others after you hem, please leave a comment that might help others! Happy Sewing!!!!!
🤣I hear ya!!! That's why I made this video...there is hope out there for the brave-hearted! LOL! Thanks for watching, I hope it will help you in getting control of this beast of a fabric!
Good luck! Take it slowly and carefully. I hope they turn out great and that you’ll be able to report back to me with your happy results! Thanks for leaving a comment and I’m incredibly glad that my video was of help to you! ❤️
I watched your video and used this method for a sister-of-the-groom gown with a chiffon over skirt at least 15 feet around the bottom. It was fantastic! The result was perfect. The gown and its wearer were beautiful. Thank you!
You just made my day! Thanks for letting me know that my video was of such great help to you! I'm SO happy that you were able to get your niece's dress done right away
Thank you for this video! You saved my life!!! My daughter had me make her prom dress and she wanted chiffon so badly, so I took it on (and the endlessly long ruffle at the bottom she wanted), but I was dreading hemming it, and then I found this video!!! Thank you!!!! You're a godsend.
I figured out the rolled hem foot... but this last time I had a new machine with an off brand foot and it refused to cooperate. This video is a lifesaver!
Glad to know it helped you! I messed around with a rolled hem foot, but couldn't figure how to come full circle, as in doing a skirt (guess I never tried it that far!) and couldn't get it to work around the bias. Also, it was hard to get precision accuracy. Hats off to you for having figured it out, on your other machine ;) Thanks for watching and I'm glad this helped in your current situation!
I wasn't looking for this video, I also have the rolling foots but the first tries with them weren't that nice. However, your video is being extremely helpful as I have 2 or 3 projects with chiffon on my hobby table. Thank you very much wonderful lady!!! My mom would have loved to know the kind of sawing tricks I can nowadays find on RUclips. She was sawing a lot but was self-taught as I am.
So glad you found my channel!! I have never had good luck with any rolled hem foot either :( They just don't seem to work as easily as I'd love them to. Hopefully this method will help you with the projects you have waiting for you. Thanks so much for watching and commenting on this video!!
😆😆 It’s true, though, right?! It’s so beautiful, but can be so frustrating! Hope this video can help you to love working with chiffon…. At least to a tolerable level!!! Thanks for your comment!
Excellent! Thank you for letting me know your successful outcome, using this video. Bravo to you in tackling your project!! Thanks for leaving a comment :)
thank you! An answer to my prayer which has been,"How on earth do I hymn that chiffon in the most professional and exact way". are usually surge the edge and then fold over once or twice with the top stitch. I've never been satisfied with that method. And of course, those rolled him machine feet are impossible to work with. I can go forward with confidence now
@junekroner6382 I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to read your comment!! To see people being helped by the information I provide makes the time and effort put into my videos SO worth it!! I wish you great success in your next venture to hem that hard-to-manage chiffon 😁 Thank you ever so much for taking the time to comment 🥰
I am delighted to find you and your site. You are easy to listen to and fun to watch. You do not add a lot of extra who ha and you don’t take a long time to explain things before you get started with the project. I am so happy that I found, a solution to this blasted fabric that’s so wonderful when somebody else has prepared it but not so much when we have to deal with it. Thanks again and I will be watching. Kelley D
Thank you so much for your comment, Kelley! I hope you have subscribed so you don't miss out on my videos. You're right about chiffon....it's great if someone else has prepared it, but when we have to hem it, it's a different story ;) So glad you found me and good luck with your sewing!
Wow this is a beautiful finish! I have a multiple tiered gathered dress of fine silk-cotton blend that I've been putting off hemming because I was terrified of the tiny hem. This seems like a very approachable technique!
First of all, your dress sounds absolutely lovely...with a find silk-cotton blend! I bet it feels luscious! Try this technique on a scrap of fabric in order to build your confidence :) I hope that you are able to tackle your hemming, with a spectacular outcome!!! Happy Hemming!
I have watched several videos from others, but I find yours is going to be the easiest for me. Your spirit is sweet, encouraging and cheerful! It gives me confidence to go forth and conquer any doubt or fear.
Thank you! Im currently fixing a quinceañera dress with a bunch of layers like these, this video was very easy to follow and understand thank you again!
I'm so happy this helped you with your quinceañera dress!!!! This is the kind of comment that makes doing these videos worthwhile. Thank you very much for sharing your experience
This is invaluable! I am currently hemming my own bridesmaid dress a couple days before I have to leave for the wedding, as the seamstress unfortunately flaked. This wouldn't have been so bad if not for that wicked bias stretch. Between your method and a test piece of chiffon to practice on, I am feeling greatly reassured!
I like the name ‘duck bill scissors’ much better than just plain ol’ ‘appliqué scissors! But then…. I tend to like most things ‘UK’ anyway! ❤️ Thanks for watching!!!
Your comment made me giggle just a bit!!! Hemming chiffon usually doesn't keep people in a smiling mood, but I'm so glad that you were able to watch this video with a smile! LOL!! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Hopefully you'll be able to hem your next chiffon project with a smile
I wanted to like this video at least 6 times before the end. I just got done flat measuring and rolled hemming a dress. I was so disappointed. I pray that I left enough to attempt this with your method to fix it. Thankfully, I caught your tutorial before my second dress was started.
Oh my goodness....I'm so sorry that you had a disappointing experience. I've been there, and that's why I, SO MUCH, like this method better. I pray that you will be able to salvage the dress (I'll be you will be able to). If you are able to, please comment and let me know! I hope you have much better luck with the method I show here.
OMG, wish I had found this before now. This material can make you lose your religion (and mind). I've done formals, wedding attire, alterations, etc, over the years - for friends and family. I finally got pretty good with my serger for a rolled hem. But there are times when it has to be done on sewing machine. Your tutorial will be marked at top of my list. Question: where did you get the chalk marker?
I'm SO glad you found my video!! YES, sheers can cause you to become 'not yourself' pretty quickly! There are 2 links in the description of this video where you can get a chalk marker like the one I use here. Thanks for finding me, watching, and commenting!!
I have never hemmed chiffon .. until my son's girlfriend couldn't get hers hemmed in time for a wedding she has to be in. So she asked me to hem it . Well I sure wish I had seen your video . Mine didn't turn out too bad but it definitely could of been better. Now I know !! I was struggling so bad with getting it even . Thank you so much for this video , Loved it !! It is funny people who love to see does have a relationship to the material !! It can bring out the best in you lol or the worst 😜!!
You are so right! It can bring out the best or worst ;) I'm sorry my video was late in finding you. But for next time....now you know where to look! Thanks for watching
@@SewDarnedFun in your opinion do you think I should keep the back long and only hem the front… tapering off? I’m only sewing about 4-6 inches off. That’s what I want to do and I don’t have anyone to help me measure it while I’m in the dress.
@@kimberchick8527 If you want a bit of a train to drag on the ground you could do this. Otherwise you could hang it on a hanger, above the ground…. Maybe on a door, and rig some padding in it to fill it out like a body would (I use rolls of bubble wrap and batting when I have some). That way you might be able to measure from the floor up. Maybe this makes sense, or maybe it doesn’t. Otherwise if you want it the same length in front and back you’re going to have to guess, by taking the average measure lent you come up with in the front (as often chiffon could measure a couple inches difference within a short space!)
Just took up the first of 5 bridesmaids' dresses using this method and it was really successful. Would totally recommend anyone attempting to hem chiffon to watch this video. Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear this has worked for you! It’s always great to hear a wonderful success story! ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
Wow, thank you so much for your comment. It makes me very happy, indeed, that you were able to benefit from my video ❤️ I’m glad you stopped by to watch!
@@SewDarnedFun success!!! Could not be more pleased with the result. Adult daughter’s high school friend needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed - for today! 😳 I used your method on the chiffon and on the silky lining too. Dress is hanging, steamed and ready for pickup. 😅 Thanks again.
I could not be more pleased than to hear this! Congratulations!!!! You must feel so relieved!!! 😅 Thanks for giving an update and I’m SO happy this method worked for you!
Hello, i followed this video and your other video with five steps precisely, even though it's my natural instinct to cut corners and EVERY SINGLE THING you said made a difference. I really wanted to cut corners with the pressing but I did it and it made a big difference and the thing that surprised me the most was that pressing then rolling over the fabric with something made the fold stay. I'm guessing it's something to do with cooling down the fabric quickly, i don't know but it worked and thanks to you i made a pair of beautiful little petal sleeves to go on my daughters flower girl dress for my wedding! Thankyou so much. (Could you perhaps share some insight on a curved chiffon hem?)
Oh thank you for not cutting corners here and following my directions!!!! ;) It makes me happy to hear that the cute petal sleeves turned out so well! As for your question regarding curves, I think the tighter the curves, the more ‘fiddley’ the fabric would be in getting it to fold without puckering. That would be a matter of really working with the bias to try and get those threads to squish together more tightly. The good thing about sewing it with the hem side down is that you can use your feed dogs to your advantage by possibly holding your fabric taut, allowing your feed dogs to sort of pull any extra fullness through a tad more than the outer layer of fabric. Then a good press (and cooling with a towel or something) should help it to not ripple. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for watching, commenting, and hopefully subscribing ;)
Thanks so much for the feedback. It’s nice to know it was helpful. This is the way I hem ALL my chiffon projects. Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
Excellent tutorial!! I know how to hem chiffon a slightly different way, but this time I was so impressed with your results, I decided to use your technique and I'm so glad I did! The results are AMAZING!! This will be my "Go To" from now on, thank you to the moon and back 🙂 I marked the dress as it hang and again, the results were spectacular. Perfect results, proud to give the Mother of the Bride her dress to wear to the wedding !! Thank you 🙂
I cannot tell you how much this comment means to me ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to comment and moreover I’m SO HAPPY that your results were spectacular! Congratulations!!! 😁
THANK YOU so very much. Am about to embark on the great wedding alterations and it's all chiffon! Great advice. I don't mind working on chiffon, but I've never been all that keen on my rolled hems. The double stitching is what I've been missing. Not anymore!!!
I’m so glad you found this video! I wish you great success on your great wedding alteration!! Thanks for commenting and let me know how it turns out :) Yes, the double stitching is a game changer!
I love your presentations; your personality and expertise shine! This technique saves me from frustration and a spike in my blood pressure! I've viewed it each time I'm faced with hemming this awful stuff. Thank you MUCH for sharing this and other valuable sewing skills. You are an excellent teacher.
Fantastic tutorial! I have always shied away from using such fabrics, but you have inspired me to give it a go. Like you, I have issues using a rolled hem foot. This method is a great alternative and gives you complete control to get a beautiful narrow hem. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching this!! Truly I hope it will help in your endeavor to tame that chiffon beast!!! Takes a little practice but this is the ONLY method I use for clients. I find it's a consistent and reliable way to hem!!!
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you're not happy with your result. Is it possible that you could re-hem it, but just a tad bit shorter, providing yourself with a nice neat hem as a result??? Thank you so much for watching, and taking the time to comment!
@@jessicang9420 That would have been a good thing for me to have done in the original video, now wouldn't it? I'll try to make a separate edit of that video and post it singly, as I can't go back and edit the original video, re-post it, and keep all the original data on it that youtube keeps for me. So it would be better to make a separate video, using original footage, but making those markings that you are so wise to suggest!!!
So grateful I met you here. This is amazing technique. Thank you so much. My chiffon dress was cut by me and hemmed my way and it was not a 100 percent looking nice.. so now am thinking to shortened it more to get this very nice hemmed looked.. just thinking.... am sure it will take time again.. thank you for this technique.. ❤
Just thanks!! I 'accidentally' got into a chiffon project without the necessary skills - that little camisole required a lot of research and your hemming tutorial was just the ticket.
I wish I had watched this video first lol! All the other methods work from the wrong side, but this one is way better! Putting this in my sewing treasure box! Thank You!
So helpful. Loved your tips, techniques. The first one about making sure the dress is hanging ... think I've had a less than satisfactory result because of just that issue; makes so much sense. Glad to hear you, with your experience, have had issue using the special feet. Also, appreciate the clarity of your steps and demos. I will be looking at your other videos.
Sending you some love ❤ I successfully hemmed my bridesmaids dress, it was a 16 footer! Came out great! Thank you not only for the technique, but for your encouraging and fun personality as well.
You are so welcome! I hope your hemming goes smoothly! You can use what you know will be extra length to practice on first. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!!
Just an update! I hemmed my gown and it was so much easier than I expected. My son's wedding was today and I had so many compliments. Thank you again! 😊
I’m SO GLAD you gave an update! Congratulations on a successfully hemmed dress! Bravo!!!! Thank you ever so much for coming back here and letting us all know how it went ❤️❤️❤️❤️Good job!
Thank you so much for this video. The only part I didn't follow was the cutting of the extra hem. I couldn't tell how it was extra. It looked like part of the skirt. Can you please explain further? Thank you.
Remember that I pressed the hem up (I didn’t cut) then I ran a row of stitching just inside that pressed up hem, basically making another fold right next to the pressed fold? At this point, the extra hem allowance that I didn’t cut off, is now cut off, which allows the fabric to freely fold up on my officially pressed hemline. Then I stitch the tiny hem in place. You can see the demonstration I show on PAPER at about the 3:00 minute mark in this video. Please refer to it, if you've missed it! I’ve also just put out another shorter video on doing this same hem. I don’t know if it might show or explain things in a clearer way. Let me know if you’re still not undertaking clearly and, then reach out to me again so I can help you. Thanks for watching!!!
Lol!🤣 Helga is so thrilled about your comment! Just made her week so much brighter! Thank you for watching and commenting. I hope the video is helpful to you in hemming your wedding dress!!!!
Can't wait to try this. You are a God sent with your method. I've had a had time trying to do a rolled hem that looks professional on slippery fabric, but now with your method I believe I will be successful..Thank you so much. I'll let you know how well I do.😊
Can you teach me how to make a chiffon wedding cape in less than 2 weeks 😭 🙏🏽 Your video makes me feel like maybe I can possibly do it and I will attempt to if I can hem the edges just right, thank you so much for your insight. Wish me luck! 🍀
Hi there! I'm not sure what type of cape you are needing, but do you already have a pattern? Are you doing this without one? In my mind I'm envisioning a short cape, like the downloadable pattern you can get here: www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/sussex-cape-dress/?srsltid=AfmBOoqwwysORFQ8kvB1qMK4SB6R_SmAFZf4xwoQS2zYer0JQY59GiNW I've not yet used this pattern company, so I don't know how easy or not their patterns are to use. Or...if you want to try and draft one on your own, and can filter through information that might not be what you need, here's a video of my 'sewing guru' as she shows how she made this same sort of cape (she shows how she uses an already made pattern and changes it, but you'll see the shape of the pattern and maybe can dummy one up for yourself to see if it works. Please make a fake garment first before you try it in chiffon!!!) ruclips.net/video/Y9xilQgF05w/видео.html As long as you have a pattern to guide you, you most certainly can hem the chiffon as you need. Please practice doing it first though! Good luck!!!
Love the video and technique. Going to give it a try. I have two gowns to hem with chiffon overlays. I see you use a plastic foot on your machine. Is this a special "glide" foot and does it perform differently than a metal foot?
I hope my video will be helpful with your gowns. The foot I have on my machine is a Teflon foot. Honestly I don't have it on for any particular reason than it works well with a wide variety of fabrics and I don't have to change it ;) Also, it has little corners and such that I use for visual marking points, but other foots can have those little nooks and crannies, too. I see no reason why you couldn't use a regular 'silver' pressure foot, as long as it holds the fabric down well. Thanks for watching and good luck with your two gowns!!!
Have the hem pressed. but, the lining is wonky!!! Didn't realize it until I pressed the Chiffon per your instructions and hung the dress up for a final check before sewing the hem. (Ordered this dress online.) The only thing I can think to do is take the smallest hem and use that all around the skirt. Any thoughts? I don't want to re-hem the lining.
@@bootsboots8453 Can you let me know what you mean by wonky? The lining should be anywhere between a half an inch to an inch shorter than the chiffon. In my experience it would be easier to shorten the lining then mess with the chiffon. You certainly don’t want to get that sheer chiffon layer wonky also! If you have a serger, you can just serge the lining, turn it up, press it and topstitch it. I’d like to help you if you could give me more details :)
@@SewDarnedFun You are too kind. I need the floor length dress for my granddaughter's formal wedding this Friday, June 3rd. Arrrrh! Anyway, wonky means the lining isn't even. The chiffon "was" 2 inches to 1inch longer than the lining. The chiffon was dragging by 2 inches. I didn't know what to do, so, I cut and sewed the chiffon 1" shorter all around. I did use your methods per video which was extremally helpful. The dress is black and I am old, so, I won't be noticed too much. And, I'll have to watch my steps or wear higher heels. I should have started on my dress sooner, but, had so many other wedding assignments to do. Thank you so much for the helping hand. I'm your new fan.
thank you very much for this lovely tutorial! quick question from a beginner - do you put the same color thread into the bobbin as you are using in the top? my machine came with white bobbin fillers pre-made, but I'm curious if it would look neater at all to thread the bobbin myself with the same color thread for this project. thank you!!
Thank you for watching and commenting on my video! I love this method of hemming chiffon, having tried other ways and was never happy with them. As for your question, I’ve always used the same color in the bobbin as the needle. Chiffon is sheer, so if you are hemming chiffon, just keep in mind that if your bobbin thread is a very different color than your fabric, it might show…? You’ll have to do a sample and let me know! Good luck!
@@SewDarnedFun thank you very much for the quick reply! I will go ahead and replace the bobbin with the same color thread and let you know. thank you!!
I'm a beginner and I'm self studying how to sew. At first I thought hemming is the easiest 'till I sew one and found out I suck at it.Hope this will work.
Sewing on chiffon is definitely a more advanced type of fabric to sew on. As a beginner, give yourself permission to not be perfect, be ulta patient, and keep at it! I wish you great success in this rather difficult project ;)
hello, very glad you have this video on hemming evening wear. I don't own a surger machine? is there a way to use regular machine? if so what stich pattern to use?
First of all, thank you for watching and commenting! You have a question with a double-edged answer there....YES, you can hem accordion pleated chiffon like this. However, when you press it, the pleating will come out in the areas you have pressed. It is time-consuming, but you can carefully, one by one, press the ends of those pleats back in. I have done it before and it turned out beautifully. But, it takes some tedious ironing when you're done with the hemming ;) Hope that help!

Trying to sew with silky, slippery materials really makes me appreciate those who work in factories to create garments.
Absolutely!
It's requires so much skill. I can't believe how much we devalue that labor!

I loved the first 45 seconds of your video haha Definitely a love hate relationship. Thank you for this video and making all of my problems relatable.
😆😆 It’s true, though, right?! It’s so beautiful, but can be so frustrating! Hope this video can help you to love working with chiffon…. At least to a tolerable level!!! Thanks for your comment!
This video was great, exactly what I was needing. I hadn't sewn in years but was able to do my project using this video!
Excellent! Thank you for letting me know your successful outcome, using this video. Bravo to you in tackling your project!! Thanks for leaving a comment :)
oh my goodness, wish I would of had youtube videos like yours back in the day. i loved this video. thank you for taking the time in doing it.
I appreciate your comment. Thank you so much
Thank you for this video. Saved me on an alteration on the flimsiest chiffon I've ever come across. Managed to get a decent hem on it with your help.
Oh boy! Flimsy chiffon is the worst! I'm glad you were able to get a decent hem with help from my video. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you. I needed you guidance to hem sleeves!!! Very useful tips!
You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching. :)
I have watched several videos from others, but I find yours is going to be the easiest for me. Your spirit is sweet, encouraging and cheerful! It gives me confidence to go forth and conquer any doubt or fear.
Aw! What a kind comment ❤️ Thank you for watching. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope you have the best outcome with your project!
@@SewDarnedFun I was successful in accomplishing the task with your method!
@@kingshandmaiden I’m so happy to hear this! Congratulations! ❤️
You got this! I’m so glad you found me! I wish you the best of luck for a great outcome! ❤️
Lif saver and saved to one of my tutorial files on here so i can find it when i make my next ball gown! ❤❤❤
That's great to hear! I know this method has been a life saver to me. Glad you found me and good luck with your ball gowns!!
This was terrific! I thought I was going to ruin my dress. Thank you for all the help. I really enjoy your tutorials!
So glad you found this tutorial!! I hope you survived the hemming of your dress 😉 Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Thank you so much for this. Chiffon always scared me, but this is the best instruction video I have found. Thank you, thank you!!
You are so welcome! I’m glad you found the video helpful and thank you for leaving a comment 😊
Excellent tutorial. In the UK we call those scissors, duck bill scissors.
I like the name ‘duck bill scissors’ much better than just plain ol’ ‘appliqué scissors! But then…. I tend to like most things ‘UK’ anyway! ❤️ Thanks for watching!!!
Hi seamstress of 50+ years. I do these hems the exact same way!! It really is a time saver & forms a nice narrow hem. Great video ❤
Thanks for watching! 😊
Gosh you’re so much fun to watch I got through this whole video with a smile!! Thank you!!
Excellent technique and enjoyable to watch.
I'm so glad you stopped by! Thanks for watching :)
I’m using the exact same color with this fabric. It gives me the perfect visual. I’m learning how and will try soon as the wedding is 2 weeks away.
Good luck! I hope you find it to be easier than you think ;) Just have patience with yourself and the process ❤️
Thank you!

Im experimenting with Organza for my doll clothes. I'm using my rolles hem presser foot for this adventure. Wish me well 😊
I DO wish you well! If you can successfully use that pressure foot, kudos to you!!! I hope it turns out well! 😊
I despise chiffon. You made this look so easy. I’ll try your method.
I know how you feel! Not my favorite to work on, that’s for sure!!!
You just made my day! I needed to figure out how to hem some chiffon flags (for Hebraic dance) without an overlocker.
Wonderful! I hope this video will help :) Thanks for watching and I hope your flags come out beautifully!!!
Best video. I loved how you used the paper demonstration! It's so much easier for me to use the pressed line as a guide than the chalk. Brilliant.
@@jessicang9420 That would have been a good thing for me to have done in the original video, now wouldn't it? I'll try to make a separate edit of that video and post it singly, as I can't go back and edit the original video, re-post it, and keep all the original data on it that youtube keeps for me.

Can you teach me how to make a chiffon wedding cape in less than 2 weeks 😭 🙏🏽
Your video makes me feel like maybe I can possibly do it and I will attempt to if I can hem the edges just right, thank you so much for your insight.
Please make a fake garment first before you try it in chiffon!!!) ruclips.net/video/Y9xilQgF05w/видео.html
As long as you have a pattern to guide you, you most certainly can hem the chiffon as you need. Please practice doing it first though! Good luck!!!

Hi, thank you for the video very helpful, appreciate it. What type of needle do I use for the chivon?
You're so very welcome. I usually use a 70/10 or 80/12 universal needle. Hope that helps. :)
Thank you this was so helpful!!!❤

Beautiful lady with helpful information
Thank you! Glad you found my channel and that this video was helpful!
Wow! What a trick! Looks great!
Thanks! :)
thank you very much for this lovely tutorial! quick question from a beginner - do you put the same color thread into the bobbin as you are using in the top? my machine came with white bobbin fillers pre-made, but I'm curious if it would look neater at all to thread the bobbin myself with the same color thread for this project.
I will go ahead and replace the bobbin with the same color thread and let you know. thank you!!
That was very helpful, thank you! 💖

Hello! Have you watched my video? I do not use a serger ;) Watch the video and you will see the answer to your questions!
This was great! Thank you. Will I have lots of problems if my chiffon is accordion pleated, or is it the same? Do you have some tips for that fabric?
First of all, thank you for watching and commenting! You have a question with a double-edged answer there....YES, you can hem accordion pleated chiffon like this. However, when you press it, the pleating will come out in the areas you have pressed. It is time-consuming, but you can carefully, one by one, press the ends of those pleats back in. I have done it before and it turned out beautifully. But, it takes some tedious ironing when you're done with the hemming ;) Hope that help!
@@SewDarnedFun that’s what I was afraid of. Oh well, beautiful garments come with details that make them special. Theme to heat up the iron.
Yes I’m sorry to give you the news!!! But it’ll be so beautiful when you’re done!!!! Good luck!!!!!!
