I agree. However I would like to have seen everything brought up, brought to one place where it is turned into a museum and place of restoration. These items will be lost and serve little purpose on the ocean floor where they were never meant to be. Tragedy put them there. Sadly items have been sold and that I disagree with. @@Firearcher4 Very intrusive and not very respectful. Many of the families whose ancestors were on board Titanic were worried about intrusive expeditions and would like the the wreckage to be left as a grave site on the bottom of the sea.
@@IAmThe_RA I get that, but disagree with it. Imagine we do things your way. In 100 years there will be no gravesite. All will be devoured by the sea floor. If I were a person who had died on that ship this would be my wishes. I would hope that all my stuff was taken off the ocean floor and returned to land where it came from and belongs. Let me put this another way. The people on the Titanic were killed by drowning. They did not die of natural causes. They were killed. They did not want to die that day. When someone is killed in a room of a house that house is often destroyed and whatever items that person had removed and taken elsewhere. How is this any different? @@Firearcher4 I remember watching a documentary where one of the last survivors whose father perished when Titanic sank was horrified at the thought that people might go in there, poke around and pry as her father lied on that wreck along with others who perished that night. I think it's very different from a person that died in a room as it's not just a place where the tragedy took place but also their final resting place. Only 900+ out of the 2200+ on board the vessel were buried on land including the survivors. Many of the bodies recovered were buried in the sea. So it is indeed a gravesite for the 1300+ who perished. Not to mention many of their descendants have also voiced concerns about intrusive activities around the wreck. I have a leather bound Bible printed in German that was aboard the Titanic.Margaretta Daisy Corning Stone Spedden boarded with it I'd bet. Then recovered next to the 4th body recovered by The crew of The Mackay Bennett
I used to have reservations about artefacts and parts of the ship being raised for documentation, studying, preservation and display. Yes, the area is, for some, spiritually a graveyard. We know people died in the ship, drowned on the surface, sank and dotted the space around the wreck like confetti. We know this because of the pairs of shoes and treated clothes and leatherware their bodies left behind, long after their flesh was consumed by other organisms and/or decomposed, and their bones inevitably dissolved by minerals and other bacteria. The body is gone, and has been for a long time. Could you take an artefact from within the vicinity of the ‘grave’ of one of these victims? My opinion would be yes. An artefact touching the clothing remains of a victim? Personally I don’t know, but I think I’m subtly leaning toward yes. To put this in context, think of the 9/11 Museum in New York. They have on display, tastefully and respectfully, the remnant remains of personal artefacts that belonged to people whose lives ended in some of the most horrible of ways. Items that were in their pockets, items they used, items they wore as they burned or shattered to pieces via impact. Am I saying we should plunder the ship of all its archaeology and leave but shoes and clothes on the ocean floor? No. Be respectful, be considerate, but also think to the future. Events like these are rare, and these historic items are degrading faster than ever. Ultimately we aren’t raising these artefacts just for us, but for the countless generations ahead in the centuries to come.
with 9/11 it's different. They are not gonna leave the destroyed building and everything else there for ever. This is a ship that sank. it's different. Just saying. I realy don't have an opinion of if it's right or not.
Ugh it's been 100 years, the body's have been dissolved, I mean yes it's better to leave a shoes and a few clothing items alone, I wouldn't exactly call it grave robbery

Sorry. I have a question. Are china..bronze..silver..crystal..objets also preserved in salt water? I went to a Titanic exhibition years ago and everything was in excellent condition. Out of the water....

Bringing up a piece of the ship itself, or something in it is one thing. Bringing up dead passengers' belongings? I'm all for preserving history, but consider how we would feel if in 100 years people were selling pieces of the world trade center.

Idk.. I just missed Titanic.. May the souls of the victims rest in peace.
they have to save the rest of the items of the ship before the wheck being burried by the sand banks of the plain south of newfoundland where there is many submarine landslides
Yeah I am interested to know why though. Is it because of bacteria or something? You would think drying it out would immediately help the situation if your trying to preserve something
I'm still not exactly a fan of recovering artifacts from this rock but at the same time it's still mind blowing that something is fragile as paper has survived saltwater and 6,000 PSI of pressure which is ridiculous Again I'm amazed this stuff has survived but I'm still on the fence on taking momentos from a site where at least 1500 people died horribly
Amazing! I’m so glad that people are going to theses great lengths, to preserve this story. Tho I’m kinda worried about one thing; Has any shoes ever been taken from the Titanic after she sank? Not to judge anyone or anything I’m just curious. 🤔
At 0:33 the man says, "there's very little air" in his description of Titanic's location, the ocean floor. Now that got me confused. I'm sure the man is more knowledgeable than I am therefore it had me wondering, did I have it wrong my whole life? There's air in water, let alone at the bottom of the ocean? Or did he just make a mistake and what he really meant was oxygen?
Dicson C. Ching - I don't believe there were any LV luggage brought up, but I read somewhere that a corroded Apple Watch was found in the pursers safe.
Occasionally the suitcases pop up to the surface. Theres a tugboat that just does figure eights in the vicinity, when they see something they pick it up out of the water and another tugboat that doesnt just do figure 8s toot toots the artifacts to the museum!
Several expeditions have been down to the wreck since 1985, like Robert Ballard's and James Cameron's - with properly built and tested submarines. The last one wasn't.
By means of properly built submersibles. It is reachable. Those subs have robotic arms that could be operated from inside the sub by the crew and collect artifacts.

its to keep them wet specifically types of clothing and types of paper because if not moisten then they would crumble look up oldest wooden structure it is a wooden well that has to stay wet or else it would crumble to pieces.

I'm still not exactly a fan of recovering artifacts from this rock but at the same time it's still mind blowing that something is fragile as paper has survived saltwater and 6,000 PSI of pressure which is ridiculous
Again I'm amazed this stuff has survived but I'm still on the fence on taking momentos from a site where at least 1500 people died horribly
None of the artifacts here were from inside the ship wreck.
It will all eventually disappear anyways
Amazing! I’m so glad that people are going to theses great lengths,
to preserve this story.
Tho I’m kinda worried about one thing;
Has any shoes ever been taken from the Titanic after she sank?
Not to judge anyone or anything I’m just curious. 🤔
Can they collect anything that is not on the ship but lying nearby?
Not nowadays there’s international agreements since 2020 especially between UK and UK no artefacts will be taken from the titanic without permission
4eightyvolt He meant oxygen. Probably just a mistake or putting it in to terms most people can understand. Idk
did they recovered any louis vuitton trunks or luggage from the titanic ?
Dicson C. Ching - I don't believe there were any LV luggage brought up, but I read somewhere that a corroded Apple Watch was found in the pursers safe.
"i went down to the titanic" what did you get? "i got a sock"
😊❤ well done everyone!🇮🇪
This is the only good video to come out of CNN.
My question is how were the artifacts recovered if no one is able to reach those depths of the shipwreck
Wonder what happened to the animals on the ship.
Did he say there was very little air in the sea ? 0:34
Grave robbing 💯
100 yrs back every single piece other then the jeweld would be worth nothing but now just for a paper from the ship also unusable would be 1000
Very cool.
I love the artifacts but not other comments swearing I'm only 11
Shannon Laidlaw learn early, just don't leave comments unless you want trolls to respond. especially when you leave your age. don't ever do that on the internet.
Shannon Laidlaw Hon, RUclips has the worst comments of any site. My advice is to never read them or leave any. Just watch the videos.
For the British, the Titanic was a tragedy but for Americans it seems like a joke
I don't mind taking a few artifacts like plates. That is a value to restore for as long as we can. But taking large objects, or the ship itself- ahaha hell no.
0:44 no way they made an artifact out of someones old sock..Thats not even an artifact to begin with
I'm most surprised they place the artifacts back into salt water when not on display
its to keep them wet specifically types of clothing and types of paper because if not moisten then they would crumble look up oldest wooden structure it is a wooden well that has to stay wet or else it would crumble to pieces.
Her sister ships had bad luck too. 🎐🎋📹
Can y’all shut up fr, all I see are comments defending the fact that this isn’t grave robbing, Ive been scrolling and I haven’t seen not one comment calling it grave robbing, yea so everyone gets y’alls point so shut up
very interesting! Thanks for posting
Those clothing a huge
Jesus christ All that stuff would of been vanished It would be better for it to be recovered and put in a museum for people to see it and if i died in a boat thats thousands of feet underwater i wouldnt care for them Recovering Parts
Wow τέλειο!!!! 😲😲😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💖💖💖💖💖💖:-)
He said there is very little air. Lol
Lmfao 😂😅
m triste esti acontecidodoi o coração só de pensar nas pessoas morrendo com j frio e a afogando Deus me livre

It means RMS TITANIC INCORPORATED
Maybe take dishes but personal items need to be left with the ship.
Yeh like those people are going to be offended if you take their belongings. Grow up
Books are important to remember the person like journals and manifestos just like ships sunk in the 16 to 1700's and many who had love ones on the ship are long dead by now.
Man can't just leave well enough alone .
"How items pillaged - ehem - recovered, from the Titanic are preserved."
hairpiece_assassin oh grow up. It’s not grave robbery, it’s historical preservation.
They show you clothes plates...what about the bags of gold coins jewellery ect that have also been recovered. These items are preserved and then displayed in pay to view "museum" attractions where photos and video are prohibited. This is nothing more then financial exploitation of mass grave goods dressed up as heartfelt archaeology
Where’s roses mirror 😪
why do they need to put it in water again they could just leave it in a open display covered dry
Akirah Shamie Because it preserves them. The oxygen in the air reacts and destroys these items otherwise.
