    This set has been quite a hype even before its release, but I think after I've seen some reviews including yours, it's pretty much justified for the hype. So this set is bassier, has more laid-back vocal.. which cause overall more fun and safer sound, but lacking technicalities compared to SZero.

      I think that’s a good way to put it. Also less imaging and soundstage than zero but easier on the ears.

      Yes. You could totally own both and like them both for different reasons. This set for the fun factor. 7hz for the more analytical approach.

    anyway great review. the great think about this qkz hbb based on my experience, even though the tune elevated and have more emphasis on the low freq, the upper mid is not shouty and the treble is not prone to sibilance. sometimes when some iem boosted that low freq, the high also dragged up make it sound quite piercing. this not the case with this qkz hbb.
    thanks for the comparison with other hbb collab iem's!

      Glad I could help! The Wan’er has more clarity and detail because of the way it’s tuned but you lose a little warmth.
      Soundstage just refers to the sense of space you get. Listen to something like the eagles hotel California from the hell freezes over tour. When a device has more perceived soundstage the crowd and instruments will have a greater sense of layering and space. Hope that helps!

    • @vipfernandes94
      @vipfernandes94 2 года назад +2

      Actually it might depend... Some more high tempo metal genres like black/death or even power metal might get crowded with that amount of bass and it might bleed to guitars crunchies and distortions... Some more mid-low tempo like heavy, thrash or even power metal probably would sound cleaner (I'm focusing on the interaction of bass to mid, not high tempo like solo guitars, more like drums and bass guitars crowding the low freqs).
      HBB himself finds the 7hz more clean with some Black Sabbath's Master of Reality, imagine something ultra crazy as in black metal, his collab could sound muddy.
      It all depends on what sub-genre and your preferences.

      The 7hz Zero is pretty good for Metal in general. Very clear and fast with enough bass. I would go for HBB just if you listen to mostly slower sub-genres like Doom, Sludge, Stoner, Groove, Alternative, New/Nu, Grunge etc.

    It is unlikely that people who buy a $20 iem will spend $15 on spinfits so a direct comparison with stock tips is a usefully information that covers 90% of use cases ( sames goes with $15 iems that sounds better on a beefier $100 source, never going to happen)

      Thanks for the great recommendation, but I already have the S12, they do sound very good with EQ but the soundstage is sadly still a significant bit behind the OH10s, but the resolution and capabilities are a great refreshment at it's lower price tag.
      I've been on the lookout for iems with massive and wide soundstage, and came to my conclusion that there are not many, unless you are willing to fork over 2300 dollars for a pair of Sony IER Z1R, or save money and buy a over head Sennheiser HD 800 S.
      The only set with a wide holographic stage I've found and read about in the 200-300$ range Is the ISN Audio H50's, a reddit user which also used the S12 and some other claimed it to have better sub bass extension and a much more expansive stage, just too bad that there are not many if any reviewers talking about the product. might have to take a risk for it.

      I had the Ikko OH10 set as well and I share your exact thoughts about the recessed vocals and mid bass...but the soundstage was excellent! For me, personally, the higher-end frequencies of the OH10 were just too sharp in places which led to fatigue pretty quick. I sold them and tried the FHE, but those sounded odd in the upper frequencies to me and lacked stage/depth... Sold the FHE, thought about the S12 (lured in by their airy wide stage) but eventually dismissed them because of reports/reviews of the top-end frequencies maybe being too sharp for some - didn't want to take the chance. I ended up with the Hook-X and I love them... Big wide open stage and fantastic, almost liquid-sounding details within imaging/depth/height/separation. The mid/sub bass attack/rumble/coherency is clean and addictive. Vocals are more present than in the OH10. Also the high-end frequencies are absolutely perfect for me with these treble-sensitive ears.

      QKZ x HBB sounds exactly similar in mids
      CRA+ has more treble and less bass
