- Thanks to EV Accessories Ireland, Enyaq owners can now have some storage space under the bonnet, but iis it any good? I tested it to find out.

Given their ‘simply clever’ motto I expected Skoda to include this from the factory.
I have one of these trays for our Ioniq and it is great for cables. Enyaq arriving soon so good to see this is a possible option.
nice - there goes the charge cables, and one or two other bits - my octopus cables etc for when the boot is already full!
Perfect - looks just the job; have ordered one.
Makes you realise what a good job Tesla did with their initial design in the Model 3 and Y, in comparison to the VW group.
To fit in a decent size frunk, a reasonable boot at the back, plus the underfloor storage in the back as well, besides with the 3, having a saloon/ estate height car with a good size battery AND good economy as a result of the lower frontal area. Pity the 3 isn't hatchback with a steel roof and a few more buttons for temperature control.
A smaller, lower better packaged hatch/estate VW group car with some towing ability is what the market is crying out for, with a frunk for the cables and bits up front, so no need to go unloading stuff out of the boot, to get at cables.
Good to see a frunk for the VW group, to clear up the mess of cables in the back.
Bit pricey at €254, but at least it's becoming available
Yeah but in the other hand if you need to get to the 12v battery eg to jump start it then the tesla needs a socket set to remove the frunk to get to the stuff that's easily to hand under the bonnet of the enyaq
@@enyaq_gorm A point for Skoda there.
With the volume of the Tesla frunk and the potential weight of stuff that might be put in there, being bolted down is probably a necessity.
But it is definitely something Tesla might look at, to improve their own product.
Noticed on the ID2-all launch that there was space under the back seat squab for cables and other bits, which seems like a good idea too, but that was not a production-ready model, so maybe it won't make it through final development.
Hopefully it will.
A pity Skoda/VW can't bring out a less tall estate version of the ENYAQ right away.
Better economy, better range, better handling and not much loss of practicality, if the interior could be kept the same.
2026/27 seems a long wait for a car which would sell well right now.
@@francisdoran971 hard to make it less tall, the batteries are under the floor - my first EV was a leaf and it was much taller than other cars for the same reason
@@enyaq_gorm if you look at the dimensions of a Tesla 3, the height is actually slightly lower than an Octavia estate.
Big battery in the model 3 is 75kwh, so virtually same capacity as bigger ENYAQ, so battery packaging isn't the issue if deciding to design lower vehicle from the start..
Obviously, the SUV is the preferred vehicle type nowadays, but if we're trying to reduce emissions, then a lower saloon type vehicle, but with the same interior packaging as the Enyaq is certainly possible. Less metal to make it, less drag and more efficient when being used, if the aero is half decent.
Maybe that WILL be the case when the Octavia EV is released.
But obviously people like the higher driving position, for the moment.
I've heard talk about larger heavier EVs possibly being taxed more than saloons in the future, due to their higher consumption because of extra weight and drag which might change people's minds about SUVs.
Obviously, though, VW group decided it would be easier to sell electric SUV's than saloons and estates, as have Hyundai/Kia and that's why they made SUVs first.
The Enyaq is certainly a very nice car, and you've certainly done a great job reporting on its vices and virtues, but I'd still prefer a lower estate version.
A li
Always was a bit economy/ miserly-minded. 120 mpg from my Honda 125 on a 50mph run once.
But that was in the days when the traffic was slower and less of it about.
You'd be flattened now, on your motorbike, at 50mph, on a main road, these days.
@@francisdoran971 As a rule of thumb, if you want similar interior height as the petrol counterpart, add a dozen of centimeters. The Enyaq is 14cm higher then an Octavia. A MEB Battery modules' height is 11cm without the battery box around it. Which also means, the Tesla Model 3 does not prove your point since ist seems to be designed to be a pretty flat car. If you want a normal interior height, go for the Model Y which is a Model 3 with lifted roof.
Should be standard…. Come on Skoda!
Looks great 👍🏻
Wonderful. Does it ratle with the charging cables when you drive?
No rattle. I have driven with cables in the frunk for some months now😊
check with your insurance first before fitting under your bonnet in case its regarded as a modification...
Hi I'm getting an enyaq 80 on 29th of Oct can you please advise what electric provider are you using and do skoda offer any deals with charging when out and about any advise appreciated Alan
I'm with Octopus, there are no offers from Skoda other than Skoda Powerpass but you need to subscribe. But if you use this code you get a £50 credit on your energy bill. share.octopus.energy/aglow-prawn-796
I am on intelligent octopus go which has worked out really well over the last 10 months I've been on it. Octopus also do an Octoverse card which gives you roughly 8% off the price of many chargers
@@enyaq_gorm thanks for the info I'm getting the charger fitted on 27th this month I will then use the code you've sent me Alan
Isn’t there a risk that it will impede the cooling of electronics boxes below?
I don't think so, there's nothing under there that gets terribly hot and there's plenty of ventilation
A tad pricey for a bit of plastic. UK delivery costs then import duty is going to make the price a bit stupid for such little space.
Small volume manufacturing is never cheap. Can't blame the Irish for import duties though.
Another unforeseen consequence of Brexit.
Used to buy a lot of bits from Britain, but with import and added VAT, I've looked for stuff more on the Continent.
Google translate has been a saviour
Import duties £40 and you don’t find out until the delivery firm contact. Ouch! Brexit - continuing to fail is.
ouch @@1mw2mam
going ahead anyway. I was camping this year and found having the cables under the floor in the boot below the kayak and paddle-board etc. inconvenient - frunk will be much better.@@enyaq_gorm
With the screenwash in the middle of the 'frunk' is there a real risk of spillage and wet cables?
I guess if you're really careless when filling up. Or you could just remove it while you fill up
I use a funnel.
Is there a dealer in Scandinavia ?
you would need to ask EV Accessories Ireland
I looked into this and it was 254€ after import from the US too pricey!
apologies from Ireland free delivery and i used the discount in the video which saved me 26.85 thanks! ordered
Came here in the hopes you show how to open the bonnet once you’ve pulled the lever but you didn’t show actually opening it!
sorry I only jiust saw this comment, I didn't video it because it never occurred to me that it would be of interest. Did you find out how to do it? I'm guessing it is in the manual which is available via the app
@ finding the lever in the cabin is really easy and obvious but the catch on the actual bonnet is much much harder…but I think I found it in the end. I have a different car now anyway (unfortunately - I miss the Enyaq)
@@tentacle9 ah OK not to worry. What are you driving now?
@ an MG5. I driver Uber and It’s a cheaper rental. I couldn’t justify the Enyaq price
