    Nez wrote this one, helped produce it, and plays on it, along with the Wrecking Crew. On guitar is Mike, James Burton, and Glen Campbell! No wonder it's so good.

      Always loved Micky's voice. It first caught my attention in 1966 with "Last Train to Clarksville." Took me a while to associate the voice with Micky, until I watched the show a couple of times. I was just a kid. But since then, Micky has been my favorite.

    Someone recently posted 10 minutes of the actual recording session of Mary Mary with Mike producing and trying to get the other three to stop clowning around. Priceless. Search for it, you'll be glad you did.

    You mean to tell me this track is now over 50 years old? OMG! I'm OLD! Your "enhancements" give it a great stereo balance than the original cheap, crappy stereo mix! Well done! Thanks!

      +Bob Zwolinski If I remember correctly you could buy this in either Stereo or Mono. I was still listening to a G.E. portable player back then and no stereo F.M. in the car. Real stereo equipment was still a few year out for me.

    • @bobzwol
      @bobzwol 6 лет назад +1

      @Sands of time - At age 11, I bought the mono version in 1966. [It was $0.90 cheaper than the stereo version.] I had commandeered the family console stereo for myself in which the left channel was blown-out. A few years later, I became a master with a soldering gun and fixed it so I could have true stereo and never went back to mono. Then I got hooked on reel-to-reels. I guess I'm a hi fidelity dinosaur.

      +Bob Zwolinski I'm a few years up on you but I bought the Mono in 1966 also. Like .90 was a lot back then and to be honest about it, I don't think I really knew what stereo was. (I did and I didn't) Funny thing to me is that since I've been on RUclips. I have found some real gems recorded in mono.There was good stuff and some not so good stuff. Not many reel to reel people around.

    • @bobzwol
      @bobzwol 6 лет назад

      @Sands of time - By 1969 at age 14, I already had 2 reel-to-reel machines. I was thrilled at being able to turn my old mono recordings into fake "duophonic" stereo by adding a slight delay on 1 channel [same effect as Capitol records used to do]. Indeed! I've found many channels that specialize in preserving the mono recordings and visit them often. Having been a self-proclaimed recording engineer for 50+ years, I have found that achieving a good mono mix is NOT easy! Hats-off to those engineers that gave us great mono sound!

      Interesting question as to exactly what I do on these songs to enhanced them. Well each song is different as to how it would be enhanced. I use a Yamaha 1602 (16) track mixing console given to me by a friend. I bought a Sterling Pro Studio Microphone. The process goes something like this.(1)I start out with a clean digital audio file from a CD and do a RESTORATION from that MAGIX AUDIO CLEANING LAB (adjusting the 3 band compression/dynamics, EQ & brightness settings.
      (2). Then I move that file over the MAGIX AUDIO STUDIO 7 (multitrack program) on my HP computer and place it as track 1 or the MAINFRAME TRACK. The microphone is plugged into the sound mixer and fed into the back of the computer by aux in audio channel so it can be picked up by the multitrack program. Instruments like electric guitars and keyboard are plugged directly in to the sound mixer but acoustic guitars, vocals, clapping, tambourine etc. and miked.
      (3) Then comes the critical task of deciding what instruments, percussion, vocals and keyboard might be needed to enhance the original. This is most critical job of all. There is no manual on doing this. You either know what you are doing or you do not. The TECHNIQUES change from song to song/artist to artist which is a real challenge. It helps first if you are a musician of some sort and have a working knowledge of the genre of music you are planning on enhancing. I do best with the songs of the era I grew up with 60's 70's era.
      So to answer your question directly--the addition of any instrument, percussion or vocals you hear that were not in the original were added by me by strategically placing audio tracks on top of the original on both channels and mixing them down to make a better stereo version. It's a fine line like walking on a tight rope
      to enhance without defacing/marring the original.
      Every song must be approached differently with a different set of rules. Enhancements are best recognized and appreciated on songs that were only recorded in mono or poorly recorded in stereo. Mixing of final audio tracks has to be critical as well. Some need volume adjustment and others tweaking using the "trimmers" .
      There are technical issues with sound tapering/ tweaking EQ, compression, brightness, dynamics, brilliance, tape simulation etc. in the mixing stage at the end of the process. That requires a good set of headphones or studio monitors for proper adjustment.
      I've made plenty of mistakes! Many songs have had to be recorded dozens of times till I could get the right sound I'm looking for. No song 'I've done is perfect so it's a learning process that gets better with each song I do. It's taken a lot of experimentation and I've logged in over 10,000 hours doing this as a hobby over 30 years. That is basically it so I hope this answers you question. Not everyone agrees on this. Some people don't want anyone messing with the originals and others love it when I do it .More like it than don't. Hope this helps. Kenn

      @@cinematic35 Thanks for the detailed explanation! I love a good remix that improves the clarity and placement of the original instruments. But definitely best for your to explain in the description if you've added any new instruments :-) Thanks again!

    These are so good..been a fan since 1966..how can we get these versions. I can listen all day. Hearing new things I've never heard. Great work. Trying to figure how you do it..and why they didn't do same when remastered

    • @cinematic35
      @cinematic35  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Robert. You can download the videos by typing SS in front of RUclips on the location top bar and hit return and it saves it to your downloads folder. I've found that to be the easiest way to have your copy. There are other ways to download
      just the audio but RUclips kind of distorts the original high quality wave file
      of the original. Some people have sent me a flashdrive and I drag and dropped the entire library of enhanced wave files onto that and mailed it back. If you checking into the list of songs and artists you will be there for while cause there are over 400 enhanced songs uploaded. I haven't done any in the past
      2 weeks as I'm busy working on other projects but I plan on making many more
      enhanced versions. The material I have to work with is endless!
      About your comment on why they didn't do it when remastered. That is because it requires more than just remastering.I'm adding electric/ acoustic guitars,
      keyboard, drums and vocals as needed for each song and artist. Many of these songs have been badly recorded with improper signal processing and
      cockeyed stereo imaging. I try to fix it using my experience as a musician
      and experience in home studio recording throughout the 1990's. It seems to be working for the most part. I wanted to do something so I wouldn't get rusty
      on the guitar since I don't play in a band anymore so I picked up this hobby
      to fill that nitch! Glad you like it. Kenn
