So when are you doing this challenge, Ursa? Would love to see you do it! As much as you love Vampires, maybe with the added twist that your melee/city-capture unit has to be Lord/Lady Sucklington?
This seems like such a fun idea! If you had heroes and legends mode on would it have been possible to conquer cities with Sun Wukong or some other hero?
Moysauce from TheCivShow did this challenge a few years ago before Babylon's release IIRC using Pachacuti and his double-shot Recon unit (on a small map with 3 opponents I think). He used similar rules with one melee unit to take final cities. His other house rule was a little different, that he could build Ranged units for defense but they could never leave the City Center.
This is a challenge I've been intending to do myself. Victor's Embrasure and the Terracotta Army would help to get the units up to the Ambush promotion faster. I do wonder if there's a good faith purchasing cheese strat to pump out cheap Spec Ops early...
You'd definitely need the Grand Master's Chapel, and a civ with gr8 faith gen.. possibly Voudsingers too, at least for the buffs related to faith income
That was my original plan, to farm XP from city states and use terracotta army. But the double XP card goes a long ways and it really isn't needed. As for early spec ops, I still think babylon is the way to go, but one could found a religion to generate a lot of culture to get grand masters chapel earlier.
Unfortunately, no When I first started playing civ my very first leader was Cleopatra because I liked the idea of chariot archers, so I spammed a bunch of them out to take out the enemy. I ended up very surprised when there was no way for my chariots to take cities and I failed all of my wars because I didn’t produce melee or anti-cav units in time
This was like if Solid Snake traveled in time to Medieval Europe and started harassing HRE with socom pistols
You absolute mad thing - great vid IO :)
Thanks friend!

Wouldn’t it be possible just to keep starting scouts for taking cities as they use a melee attack?
Yes that is possible. If scout is full health and city 0, it should take it.
It wouldn't work for long - eventually a city would be strong enough for your attack to be ineffective :)
@@UrsaRyan I thought it always worked as long as unit has 100% full health and city has 0, but I haven't tried it in awhile.
@@danhynes2 This was true in Civ V, but I've had a unit die before in a previous series (from a long time ago)
Rangers are so strong the Ai called for RNG floods to save themselves XD
lol, so true. I'm just glad that they didn't perish
State workforce 👍
Military engineering 👍
Balanced, as all things should be
Otter, just when I thought the challenges couldn’t get any crazier you pull this out of the bag. All I can say is a legend walks amongst us. 🙏
Reform the Coinage actually doesn't give +3 gold per trade route. But rather +3 gold per district when you trade with the AIs.
Your challanges are so bizarre, love them. 😂
Thanks!
I remember being involved in a Civ group discussion about this very topic. Exciting to see it being done!

What a cool idea for a challenge! Super entertaining.
Thanks!
"THE RECONING IS AT HAND!"
I've never used the Spec Ops' Paratrooper ability before.
No idea they could drop behind enemy lines.

Cheers Otter! Thanks for making my day better!
Cheers!
I thought this would be better with the Cree of scotland but ofc everything is better with babylon
Try it without being Babylon! (No heroes!!!)
erm. can't you use the move button to move a ranged unit into a city?
I don't think so. Though, it does work for capturing civilian units so...maybe?
Unfortunately, no

Spec Ops are such a fun unit, its just a shame that by the time you'd get them in a regular game- the AI has such powerful units.
This should be fun 😁
Shouldn't you have kept some scouts without upgrading them and use those to take the cities?
Eventually the cities will have high enough strength where the scout will still die, even if the city has 0 health.
That was a good game!
Thanks!
Great video
Thanks!
FUN!!
The fuck happened?
amazing video !!!
Thanks!
This video really crossed The Line
Do you feel like a hero yet?
TheCivLifeR is vomiting (he hates scouts for some reason; idk how he feels about upgraded recon units).
umm archers arent recon
🖖
hi!
