This makes me think to the one video that was fairly recent about a road rage incident in the UAE I believe it was where the guy could not defeat the leveraging arm and got brutally stabbed to death. It’s so tough if real life scenarios when that knife is coming hard and fast from all different angles. Try not to let him get a hold of you and work to the back side is good advice. You’ve got to throw something back at the attacker to make him worry about something, anything other than just stabbing you and you’ve got to be a wild animal in trying to get free and run if you don’t have a gun.

a knife can be more dangerous in a melee fight than a gun, in a fight a gun is likely to go off but john brings up the point of fouling the gun.if the muzzle is away from u youll be alright the gun wont fire again, people think they can disarm in a knife fight, then often get cut badly, altho that is definitely better than being stabbed....

John Johnson lol didn’t find a Tier 1 operator but I did find a Navy SEAL and a SOFD operator to teach me viable actual techniques the military teaches AND their highest level of tactics training from the most elite squads our warfighters have. And after taking multiple classes now, I can safely say I CAN defend myself with or without a gun. That comment I left was a little over a year ago and a year later, I DID find the right instructor(s) and have confidence in my abilities which have been vetted through real world incidents. I’d have to say that would be the most important thing when looking for an instructor... REAL WORLD EVIDENCE that your techniques will keep you alive and as I said before, NOT get you killed

*RIGHTS VIOLATED, PLEASE GUIDE/HELP ME* does anyone have any tips/help on the situation I’m in. My rights were Violated.
I was hitting the range literally 5-7 days a week for since January with my $3500 ar-15 and m1911a1 and Sadly live in California where the 2nd amendment does NOT exist, I had doc appt. which was 15 minutes from the recreational land(confirmed by the bureau of land management) I go to in a town an hour away from home. I was greeted by not my doctor but by 2 officers. Even though before when I left my car to go inside like I ALWAYS do W/no exceptions I will confirmed all of my doors and windows (even trunk and hood) are closed and secured mainly due to the fact I have firearms in my vehicle when I go to the range. But I know for a fact my trunk was closed as I had just slammed it shut and gave it a tug to affirm it is secured closed so how it opened? I would like to know. Next thing I know I’m in jail currently facing 3 or 4 felony’s and 3 misdemeanors(attorneys got me currently out on supervised OR) for simply wanting to go to the gun range after my doc appt. All of my gear in its cases in trunk of car besides my M1911 handgun which I had buckled down and secured in the holster on my vest in the trunk. Which also held my 4 standard 30rd magazines(all of which were empty). That day I actually had absolutely ZERO .45 ammo as I was out and shipment had not arrived yet. For my rifle I only had 7 rounds 5.56 which were in my D60 drum that was in same case as rifle, rifle was not loaded nor chambered it was just resting next to firearm in the case that had came with the firearm when purchased at an FFL. Thus there was no option to put a physical pad lock on the case so I could not secure it with a lock of any kind and cases that come with a way to lock with key are literally hundreds of dollars that I donot have. The magazines even the D60 drum all of which were purchased from a California FFL dealer. All of which had the metal pin that violates my rights capping standard sized mags to very small 10rd sized mags. Cause you know cali expects it’s residents to protect themselves and loved ones with a small 10rds while the 5 criminals breaking into my house all have long guns and standard 30rd mags😒.
I did NOT have a CCW license as I’m just financially not doing good at all with how expensive gas and crap are. I’m literally struggling and trying to survive on quarters and dollars.
I work at Albertsons grocery store as a night stocker.
    Now with this all said
Will the decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen aswell as the multiple rulings made by judge benitez saying miller v. Bonta and Duncan v. Bonta ARE *UNCONSTITUTIONAL*
Will I have the ability to file lawsuits against the state for violating my constitutional rights? (so called “assault rifle” and so called “high capacity” 30rd standard sized magazines, etc)
What can I do to retake back my firearms and firearm rights? They stole $6000 worth of gear/firearms from me aswell as getting a search warrant to search my house which I have no idea what made them violate another civil right of mine and to break into my home with a falsely given warrant. I have done literally nothing wrong according to the constitution of the United state. I have only 2 things on my record 1. Misdemeanor evading(got dropped from felony as I was not evading) 2. Misdemeanor possession of controlled substance(3 years clean today). I am a good upstanding caring hard working citizen one who actually cares more about others than himself. I have never violated a constitutional abiding signed law!!!! My charges are literally for things that directly go against my rights, laws that are illegally and criminally signed. Laws that throw innocent people like me into jail making innocent people criminals while also giving criminals the freedom and easy access to do the crime. Criminals attack places where they know they won’t be met with incoming bullets!!! Is there anything I can do to sue the state of California even if I have to bring my case into federal or supreme courts. This is completely unacceptable 100%!!! I have done nothing wrong as I ALWAYS abide by the direction of my 27 constitutional amendments. What these amendments say directs me of what to do or what not to do. And according to the constitution by text tradition and history I have NOT violated anything.
Is there anything I can do to get out of this position I’m in? I don’t understand how literal criminals can release into law such blatant and disrespectful illegal laws and not even be punished. They are blatantly and expressively ignoring the rulings of SCOTUS.
Please help me. I made a huge mistake by not know living in California is the exact same as living in the Soviet Union or North Korea.

John, I was robbed at gun point many years ago & over the many years that’s past I’ve analyzed the entire 60-90 second interaction, to learn from my mistakes & possibly missed opportunities, with that said I only had one incidence that lasted less than a second or two where he got closer, using his left arm to retrieve cash from my register, with the 38 revolver in his right hand (with finger on trigger)even at that time I briefly considered going for the gun, but similar to how you demonstrated, he pulled the weapon high & back up closer to his shoulder, basically out of my reach, if he’d moved it forward, my chance would have been there,
But as it was, I recognize if I go for the gun, even with decent self defense skills, he has distance advantage, and he’s going to easily discharge a round or two before I can even get close.
I made the split second decision, not to move,
Again I’ve analyzed in my mind a thousand times & this was my only opportunity to even remotely consider, I think it was the right decision at the time.
As it was , He was prepared to fire & more than prepared to kill, as about 5-10 seconds after I gave him the money, he moved about 5-6’ from me & fired his weapon anyway, multiple times.

I watched a few ASP videos and really liked them all so far, so please continue your fine work. This channel is new to me (ASPExtra) and this is the first I have seen, but i hope there are or will be many more. The guy who called you fake seems really worried about competition with his channel, which is his opinion, but to tell people not to sub is cowardly.Everybody is entitled to their opinion no matter how self centered and stupid it may be. Thanks again.

Even really weak Ju Jitsu will recognize no one could be more vulnerable than climbing over a counter. Their momentum should be used against them.
I have said, I have hundreds of defenses for knives, practiced for years. Your show, showed me that I am glad that I know the moves. But, Bruce Lee is right,”Be Water My Friend.”
A knife fight,it’s good to know the moves, but it is fluid, and will never happen the way you’ve trained. I have been in Martial Arts for 60 years, and I, Benjamin Stubblefield received death threats in the 60’s and 70’s for traveling around the country, mixing the sacred arts.

You've got a pretty good understanding of disarms, blocks, and how to get out of the "power box" of an attacker. Maybe you can become a self defense instructor some day. Congrats, John.

Note on the knife attack. He's using a leveraging arm to grab you, and the other hand to stab at you. I found when practicing that in a Judo/Jiujitsu class decades ago that I had two hands and arms free to work on his knife arm, and usually a free foot/leg to work on his feet and legs, and balance. The most successful approach for me was to redirect the stab across my body and use my hands to keep him from drawing it back for another stab. The knife became MY knife in his hand. I could usually "cut up" (rubber knife) his leveraging arm, and if I was able to trip him off balance enough, stab him in the torso with his own knife. Took plenty of practice but worked well even when my opponents were expecting it.
We also worked the techniques you demonstrate here, but if he turned back in too quickly (because he was expecting me to try to get around his back) I could use his momentum to get control of the knife as I described.

Against a knife: Use your legs (side kick) to create distance to draw, if you're armed is best. If not armed, Bicep tie and quick front snap kick to the groin or midsection. You have to get the legs involved to help with distance.. they're longer and stronger. Train people, train in many scenarios many many times as often as you can. Keep your head in the fight. Think, be aggressive while being evasive.Against a GUN: yeah and what he said for Gun:.. grab gun, get in tight, grab gun cause misfire. Be quick, be aggressive defeat leveraging arm then use both hands on the gun maintain control. Keep muzzle away till shot misfires then rip gun away with 2 hands vs. 1.

A attacker that is touching you is within range. They closed the gap for you "A gift". With a knife and levering arm, foot sweep add gravity to brain bounce on concrete. Knee impact on throat. Pick up knife call 911 from safe location. I used to practice this stuff all the time but kids, job, gym and honey do's make it difficult to practice any at all. I review TFT once every two months, all the time I have. For me only the most simple technique would effective since I don't practice.

Gun scenario, good move by jamming into chest. Same with outside lateral move with knife. Footwork is key. None of this works when you fall, which is too easy in a fight. Also, moving to your left is natural for right handers, moving to the right take some practice. Enjoy your videos.

This video should probably be redone with a bit more realism, I don't think anyone intent on stabbing you would get into a 'happy dance' (12:28) lol plus I've never seen that in the real world.
Mostly by watching your channel, preventing the leveraging arm is definitely key, but if they do get the grab the only things I've seen work are:
    A) wrestling them to the ground (requires size and strength, and jujitzu to win) and/or
    B) assaulting their head so they start trying to use that arm to block your punches instead.
I think the bicep tie is the only 'technique' that will help a smaller person buy some time against a leveraging arm. Everything else is strength, size and ferocity. Definitely a lot of the latter if you are smaller than the other person.

When im at work- and i contemplate situations, people talk about grabbing scissors or whatever, but the only thing i think i would want in my hands in my keys even though carry a pocket knife at work. -janitor in a school. I feel like not only do the keys make a fair amount of sound when moving quickly, they're easy to drop and allow me into every hall and room there is, so i could hide kids at least. Its not something i dwell on, but i think id rather be empty handed vs a gun or knife if i cant have a firearm aswell.

The disarm also take some guts, if you trained, or have at least a plan, you may go for for it, this class is great and I have seen this scenarios in Krav Maga, Israel forces martial arts, I would like to stress not only the techniques using the hands but also the low kicks to the kneecaps, foot stomp, thighs kicks, groin, also little sharp weapons you can use in the leverage arm to cut where the veins are you can brake the arm or hand, the shock will give you even more time to go for the gun.

Our class uses toilet paper roll holders for knives in pressure testing. You can pretty much stab someone full force and it'll just compress without injury (maybe don't do that straight to the eye, but you get the point.

Honestly when a gun is pulled, muzzle control is a must but instead of pushing his other hand i would of gone for the fingers for a submissive position and most likely break them and having even more leverage him hurt and a hand on the gun, now the fight concentrates to who will be incontrol of the gun...

The gun is terrifying , you gotta have the balls to do this very risky move especially you never know what that armed man real intention is . Tho I noticed most of the Perps do not expect victims to defend themselves.

I hope unarmed people who find themselves in a situation facing an attacker with a gun isn’t actually trying to disarm the attacker. He’s like “that was a bad disarm but you get the point.” Well then how much more likely is it to go wrong in real life? Then bang, you’re shot.

  • @glockster68

why is your obi off to the side? first rule of a knife situation...you are going to get cut, just expect it. but you cant stop and lick your wounds, you take the attacker out...remember it does not take that long for a guy to close the distance to cut you.

I spent 5 years training in Ju Jitsu and we did a lot of gun disarms. One Christmas my brother was drunk, I was sitting down behind coffee table between us.
He had an airsoft pistol pointed at me, could have blinded me I guess well he was pretty unsteady so when he pointed it towards me across the table I easily grabbed at it ready to disarm. He just lurched backwards and even with me knowing exactly what I was going to do, he just yanked it away before I could control it and he could have killed me if it was a real gun.
That was against an untrained person, drunk and unsteady and completely unprepared. Frightening how badly things can go so don't try anything fancy unless it's literally life and death is my advice. Give an attacker everything and run away if you can, it's just too risky.

    • @ASPextra
