  • In this video I will show you how I am fixing my hawks beak, well, not really. Every falconer should know how to cope a hawk beak, and not just for hawks, all falconers should know how to cope a beak for a wide variety of birds of prey as no two beaks are the same!
If you are not a falconer and are watching this and don't know what im talking about, then basically you can replace every phase involving ‘coping’ with ‘how to trim a beak'. If you are not a falconer and have ever wondered how to trim a hawks beak I go through the basic steps in this video.
Hawk beak maintenance is an important part of keeping a hawk, if you are just getting into falconry beak coping, you shouldn’t use this video as your only source of knowledge as many things can go wrong, its best to ask a vet or experienced falconer for help while you are learning.
If you keep other birds and have to do this I would love to know if coping falconry beaks is different to how you would do it, let me know in the comments!

I did keep telling everyone it’s the same as cutting your nails but I guess if you have never seen it happen before it’s a bit weird to watch 😂

Oh no that looks like a really daunting task not sure I could do that that’s definitely something I’d have to be taught properly if I was to get a bird in the future. Thanks for the video it’s been another eye opener for me 👍

It’s definitely not something you should attempt by yourself for the first time!

@@MercerFalconry u would be an awesome teacher as you are right now. In my country we need to find an "older" falconer to be your teacher, and after u finish practical training, u can go on exam and after that u gaining falconers license
