Whilst I am not your target audience, your approach to the subject and overall professionalism won me over. I have binged watched several already (and subscribed). To me it also highlights that one can admire and respect one’s work without having a background or familiarity in it. You have a wonderfully ability of storytelling and bringing us along for the ride.
A sustainable luxury brand would be interesting to see. Considering the clout that Botter garners each season they could def use that to make some sort of impact on the larger luxury fashion industry. There is def some questionable material usage and production tho.

Botter was a brand I discovered from SSENSE in 2020. It was such a fun brand but apart from their appointment at Nina Ricci, I knew very little of the brand. Your video was very insightful, and added towards my knowledge of the brand from Bliss Foster’s documentary of their FW22 collection.
They usually get the attention when one of their gimmicks hits the right spot. Idk if thatll happen this season, but commercially and in terms of product I think this is one of their strongest! I adore those netting pieces

I guess i can also throw in Brand in there... Are these overlapping concepts or separate? Is a signature an example of the codes?
Theyre very overlapping, yes, theyre also subjective terms, what might be a signature for me may not be for another consumer, this can also be extended to codes, which, at least imo, are longer standing signatures. I guess in a nutshell, a theme is for a collection, a signature is for several seasons (some also use this synonymously with theme), and codes are something thats expected to see in order to know its from the brand
If anyone can answer my question, what is an estimate I would have to spend to create a small collection with pieces made in maybe a New York atelier? From prototypes sampling to production, photoshoots with models and marketing?
It depends on so many things, are you sewing the pieces yourself? are you doing a presentation or an actual fashion show? Are you taking part in the official fashion week season? All of these things have different costs. It’s vastly different even season on season for the same brand, let alone for a new brand.

I have a passion for fashion and enjoy following brands like Botter. However, it's important to acknowledge that environmentally conscious fashion can seem contradictory. We all know that we don't need an excessive amount of clothes, especially if they're made from plastic or contribute to pollution during the production process. To me, the "save the oceans/dolphins are cute" marketing tactics seem like unnecessary and superficial distractions.
I would be more sceptical if it was a bigger company. I want to believe that theyre two people trying to make it and just dont have the resources to make exactly what they want to
I would love to do more indian fashion designers actually, but so much about this stage in my YTing is about playing to the algorithm. I think when I have a base for viewership thats more bankable Ill be able to branch out and cover brands like Rahul or other world designers
Would you consider a Schiaparelli to be a sleeping beauty brand? Outside of fashion, nerd circles Schiaparelli wasn’t as well known to the larger public until Daniel Rosenberry took over as creative Director.

Combine that with the fact that they just pick another issue every season just makes it all feel too gimmicky, tired and superficial to me. They’re really a “activism first, fashion second”-company. Also doing a show sponsored by Mercedes-Benz just after you released your “climate change” collection? Surely I’m not the only one cringing here? They really have a “art school project” aura about them that they will need to shed if they want to stay relevant. btw, excellent video’s! truly gamechanging on fashion yt
I give them so much benefit of the doubt because I know it can't be easy to be a small business in fashion. Most of them make no money or a loss and I can genuinely believe thats the reason they took the Mercedes Benz grant, but the production of their own garments is harder to overlook, esp when we know Jacquemus did very natural and unblended garments from that early on. Its interesting, I know, or hope, they dont have malice, but theres definitely room for growth there
I dont know if anything came from the rumours he was starting his own label actually, I dont think he launched one tbh. Maybe I could do his life story?
