It’s looks like Robert Petry’s living room? (From the Dick Van Dike Show) The drum solo seemed like it didn’t line up with the picture? I bet Saxophone players get all the girls.
The first ones who would have laughed at this video certainly Desmond and Brubeck they had a very sharp sense of humor both, they like jokes. Ok, Take Five in 4/4 funny, but once we played it for the dance in 5/4 and people danced to it! I don't remember how... but it was funny and at the same time interesting to watch! Good video, good job
you cant disrespect bird like that. paul doesnt hold a candle to him. this solo is terrible. no feeling, bad sound, the ending is gross. its like he isnt even trying
I can't remember where or when exactly, but Paul was talking about the EARLY DAYS when they were experimenting with time sig, and poly chords. Paul stated that :'it was really out there' meaning from his context that they weren't in sync. with what you hear now. I think this is a prime example of that, yes Paul is out of the tonal scale, but I cant tell if it's on purpose or if they are experimenting and learning, either way it's the opposite of what DUKE stated, 'If it sounds good it's good music', this isn't that , in my opinion. But who am I to criticize one of the greatest sax players and innovators of our time. My hero when I was growing up.
Listening to Take Five with a beat cut off is mildly traumatizing...
Still recovering...
Lol me too
Almost as traumatizing as 1:28-1:40
@@davidkapral right? Sounds like a duck trying to lay a square egg!
@@blitzkreegy4232 Paul Desmond makes up for any variance on this track.Just call it “Take 4”,this time around.
Took me a minute to realize they converted the tune to 4/4 vs the normal 5/4. Whew!
Desmond deserves a piece of the pie for this!
Sounds more like a warm beer than a dry martini...
hahahahhahahhahaha!
@Zi Ruini Ha! Nailed it!!
From the lesser known album "Time In"
Ha Ha
Should be called Take 5 Minus 1. Brilliantly done!
Such an underrated comment.
Take 5 minus 1 is 4 QUICK MATHS
Take 4
1:25 - 1:40 Paul Desmond's solo is hilariously, inspiringly, magnificently SICK !!
paging eric dolphy~ NICE!
1:09 - 1:21 is outstanding!
I love how 80% of the people in the comments don't realize what shred videos are.
they thought there would be shredding but what they got was shredded
I know what a shred video is , but how do you tell the difference with garbage jazz music? It's all dross.
@@johnbutler4319 what
Now when you name it, it's actually funny!
what is a shreding video? I seriously dont get it
Strikingly beautiful
1:31 : Dave throws a glance over at Paul as if he's thinking "you ok, Paul? what's happening?" ;D
The drums are a giveaway but otherwise, gourmet stuff! Judging from the comments, not everyone gets the point.
Which is, itself, the point.
The point is the sharp bit of the pencil
I admire the skill to be able to blow out such a beautiful tune.
1:09-1:24 is pretty cool.
1:44 Gotta love the invisible bass
Desmond freaking out in a brilliant way, superb stuff. Can imagine this at the Concorde Club, Southampton.
It’s looks like Robert Petry’s living room? (From the Dick Van Dike Show) The drum solo seemed like it didn’t line up with the picture? I bet Saxophone players get all the girls.
As an alto sax player this version is going to give me nightmares. Never want to hear it again. gack !!
🤪
This is Take Five Diminished Version!
1:28 reminds me of Motorhead's solo on "King Kong" from the Zappa/Mothers album Uncle Meat
Someone secretly recorded me and dubbed it over Desmond’s solo. ☝️😏
I love what you played...
woah...taking it into Ornette-ville!
Ninguém foi melhor que Desmond.
I don't think this version in this soundtrack is really Paul Desmond, and the recording isn't from the 1960s era.
The first ones who would have laughed at this video certainly Desmond and Brubeck they had a very sharp sense of humor both, they like jokes. Thank you for your kind words, Paul and Dave, laughing at this is a lovely idea. 😃
Proper music and musicians
Take 4
Sounds challenging in 4/4
Much more difficult to play in 5/4 time! They worked very hard to get it right!
The signal source sounds amazing even digitally shred.
It kind of works in 4.
honestly the most interesting sherd I've ever come across to
Now try it again in 3/4 time.
Hahahaha... well done, kudos to the editor. So funny
Paul Desmind was just as great as Charlie Parker.Julian "Cannonball"Adderley was an awesome alto saxophonist also.
you cant disrespect bird like that. paul doesnt hold a candle to him. this solo is terrible. no feeling, bad sound, the ending is gross. its like he isnt even trying
@@ethanklotz3277 I didn't disrespect Bird.Just because I mentioned other alto players is not disrectful.
@@ethanklotz3277 you know this is fake right?
Ladies and gents, take 4
👍
what happened at 1:26? Desmond sounds like albert ayler
😂
LOL, for a moment there, Paul sounded Avant Guard! LOL...
SMOOOOOOTH !!!!!!!!!!!
All the way from Canada, Bubbles playing drums!
I doubted this is the early version, as the song was composed with the though of
5/4 all the way since the beginning.
that high level troll X)
the drum solo X)
That's so cool. 2021? XD
Well that part doesn't sounds healthy .1:38
this is great 😂i'm also quite fond of the reggae version 'the russians are coming'
Take four
Loved it. At's some fine editin' mang. ~
You can listen everything on this world if joe morello starts playing first.
ROTFL :D :D
🤣
Really nice!
It’s a shred, but it’s really good too
Still brilliant
Wild. Done as 3+1 instead of 3+2.
paul desmond got shredded
darned clever stuff
sounds like he was too nervous to take a solo
My ears can't handle the 4/4 time.
Keep listening billb, you'll soon love it I promise 👍
GREAT comedy sketch. You guys show up the non Musos saying "How wonderful it must be to play". Good to take the micky. Thank you.
thanx - my pleasure mate
Brilliant mate! (:
Desmond and his sound, just like a beer!! or it was like a dry martini? :S Good job editing the video!
I still like it even in 4/4 time instead of 5/4 time. It is all good. John in Ohio
1:28 is a bit too many dry martini's
Indeed
No way that’s Paul Desmond.
Wish this was real!!
it is real - it's just not true 😉
….love it….gatherin’ of hip, cool cats….playin’ with time…..
Make it stop!
🤣
Ngl this kinda slaps
Is this became take four ?
On the other hand, it could be a fake
Ofc its fake :)
how dare you!
This was low key killin though!

David1970 David dude are you serious it is obviously fake

Nice.
This should called "Fake Five" :)
What time is it?
Take 4 guys
🌱😀🌾💛
Take 5 in 4
Nice One !
Who took the 5
take four?
fucking amazing!
4/4 version ?
Increíble.....❤
Omg that last lick DOES sound like the shredders on a jam session!!!!!...sadly, but true.
😊
Take 5? More like Take 4. This is in 4/4
brilliant
so killing. indeed, these cats have been taking classes with austin mcbride (from expurt villashit)
1:28 - 1:39 - mind blowing shredding =)))
Yesssssssssss
Wow! Desmond is not in the scale at all between 1:29 and 1:39... Should be shown to students that even Great artists make mistakes.
It was a fake, I was cought like a newbie
Take 4?
貴重です☺️⁉️good
2:00 🤣
Is that Sir Ringo on drums?
excelent video 10
Hilarious!
It honestly sounds good in 4
Nah, it's pretty traumatizing...
Hahaa 1:27 xD
Paul Desmond and Shreds should not be in the same sentence 😉 lol just kidding
The classical sound doesn’t fit the piece. Take Five in 4/4 is a little weird. I’ll go with Paul Desmond’s version.
typical old cat not understanding the youth of jazz today...
@@darkness7314 this is an extremely cursed video to be fair
sweet, smooth sassy, seductive...
why is it in 4/4 ? xd
