  • In this lesson you’ll learn two ways to say ‘to’ and ‘from’ a person. You’ll also learn how to say ‘to’ and ‘from’ a location. And you’ll learn a pronunciation tip for the consonant ㅎ. Finally, I’ll explain why you should use ‘to’ or ‘from’ when talking about words related to communicating.

    I usually don't comment on RUclips videos, but I genuinely can't even express my gratitude for making videos like these. I studied Japanese independently for 4 years and I would have killed for a channel like this to help me. Now, as I begin to study Korean on my own I am eternally grateful for accessible and helpful content like this. Thank you endlessly!!
    Lots of love from Canada!!!!

    빌리 선생님, i have a question.
    In the minute 9:06, why 뉴욕 was mentioned as "거기서" instead of "저기서" when the place is actually far from both 소라 and 윤안??

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  2 года назад +2

      Because it's close conceptually to the listener :) It's directly what the one speaker is referring to, so it's no longer far from both people.

    This was a fantastic lesson! I'm working through this series in conjunction with TTMIK's grammar lessons and they complement each other so well. After this series is done, what book of yours would you recommend that I purchase: Korean Made Simple 1 or 2?

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  3 года назад +1

      "Korean Made Simple" starts from the beginning, and is a different curriculum than this, but you could start from the first book if you wanted to move to that series. Besides that, you're free to use any curriculum you'd like. This series will simply become a solid foundation that you can build from.

      Yes you can also use that, but it's not going to sound natural in spoken Korean. 한테 will be much more natural.

      Practicing is just as important, or even more important than studying. If you're studying but not using it, you're likely not going to be able to later use it when you need to.

    Hello Billy , good evening
    I have a doubt , this example - 지민 씨에게서 전화가 왔어요 . Why we use 가 because this is a subject marker particle and here phone call is not the subject. Jimin is the subject . I'm not understood

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  10 месяцев назад

      "Subject" isn't the same as in English, so you might want to go back and re-watch the lesson on the Subject Marker in this course :) It's anything in the sentence that's doing a verb or that a verb is directly describing.

    I’m a little confused as to why 한테 is pronounced as 안테? I know you say it’s cause of a sound change in this video but in your examples for 한테 the ㅎ sound in 한테 isn’t before or after a consonant, the ㅎ is between vowels so shouldn’t it be 한테 as the pronunciation? And a Korean friend of mine pronounces it 한테 as well so I’m really confused.
    Thank you for any help.

      Oh so in this video when you’re talking about the pronunciation of 한테, you’re not saying that the ㅎ sound disappears in 한테you’re just emphasizing that the ㅎ sound isn’t an “H” sound right?

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  4 года назад +5

      This video is part of a series, and in a previous lesson I explain how to use 씨 and what it means. I recommend watching this series from the beginning so you won't miss anything. 씨 is basically a polite ending to add to people's names :-)
