So basically, the song, “the monster mash” describes monsters doing a dance to a song called, called the monster mash, but that song isn’t the song that we listen to known as “the monster mash”

    - I saw it suggested on another channel that one of the reasons the episodes are long is it makes it easier to edit out the parts that can't be on broadcast TV & still be 22 min.
    - Ted reminds me of ALF, the alien puppet sitcom from the 80s, except everyone curses and the world knows about him. Also, they both have three letter names, and are both hilarious. 😁
    - This is one of those comedies that hits the ground running. They pretty much found the right formula from scratch. I'll say that my one only note on the entire season is that I think they should've saved the Ted-thinks-he-might-be-Jesus episode for one where another toy doesn't miraculously come to life in the same exact way. Cause Dennis can pretty much make the same claim as Ted, and no one seems to acknowledge that. I think they could've farmed a little more from the Jesus-Ted subplot. Still funny though, and what a great first season.
    - Also, I love how they're reverse engineering THE MONSTER MASH from it's "This is just a tribute" version that we all know in "our universe" 😄 I wonder if they influenced Tenascious D

5:28 what a great point. Loved one’s pointing out when another loved one is being mistreated, walked all over and mentally abused is exactly what’s wrong with society. We should just stay idly by and watch our loved ones be abused without saying a word. Also just because Suzan doesn’t stick up for herself, doesn’t mean she’s likes the way she’s treated. There’s women that get pummeled regularly by their significant other who make excuses for him, and try to convince themselves and others their situation is ok. It’s a coping mechanism, and if you knew anything about abuse, or psychology you’d know that. Weird decision siding with the abuser…

Blaire’s perspective is an interesting look at the toxicity of feminism in modern times where simply having the freedom to be what you want isn’t enough, and somehow just being a loving mother and wife isn’t aspirational enough. I like that Susan pointed out that she was proud of Blaire for how ambitious she is, but that she was happy with her life and wasn’t bothered about just being a loving mother and wife.
The important thing is women now having the choice. They can be leaders and successful in the professional world, but they can also be stay at home mums if they want to.

Being a loud idiot is not abuse of any kind. No one's abusing anyone and Susan is happy with her family. Blair encouraging her to try something new is fine but you can't go around molding other people into what you want them to be. It's not like Matty is telling Blair to wear a dress and apron and bake some cookies, he let's her do her own thing. Abusive would be controlling, forcing Susan to be a homemaker, but he's not.

@ThumblessJew The issue is Blair came to the assumption that Susan wasn't capable or smart enough to do all that in the first place before even asking any questions.
She acted under the premise that what Susan was doing was innately wrong based solely on her own personal limited understanding of how she thinks society should be.
What Susan did was perfect and Blair should have only pressed the issue when it became apparent through inquiry that Susan never tried to expand her horizons before thus not having an informed decision, not because some group, celeb, politician or teacher told her that it was morally wrong as an arbitrarily defined moral rule in all cases.

@@joshbull623 she didn’t come to the conclusion that Susan wasn’t smart, rather that society made her put aside her dreams which is definitely true. Susan likely would’ve appreciated her dream more if she had done it years before but she still grew and became more firm both in her decision that that time had passed and in telling Matty he had disappointed her, which is progress. Blair respected her decision and Matty, the yelling abusive asshole, learned something as a result.
