I love hodgepodges of Thomas merchandise, custom creations all interacting outdoors. Must've been tiresome making all of these wheels work for so many coaches! Really like those!
No, that’s was not intentional, the coaches run on Lionel bogies, I tied to use the screws that came with the original rolling stock, but they kept bouncing out during filming. instead I replaced them with tooth picks. they did the job, but that meant i couldn’t keep the coaches down and prevent them from tilting because the holes where I slid the toothpicks in where to big. If I had more time before my personal life was gonna get busy. I’d buy S gauge track and s gauge bogies for the coaches so I can mod them because I’d like to have my O gauge bogies back for my flat cars I stole from. I hope this makes sense. thank you for the criticism, I probably won’t improve next time when I film with those coaches, but thank you for noticing. to be honest I made this video really for myself because I love seeing gordon race down the line with the express and not to many people, do that. so cheers and thanks for watching.
How do the coaches and Gordon couple up ? And can you make some troublesome trucks too and maybe just maybe a break-van I ain’t saying you have too but it would be awsome and perhaps a tutorial on how to make the express and I would love if you could do this but how could you make a Diapet toby ???
The couplings are the worst part of my build. I took inspiration from ertl and made them out of popsicle sticks and tooth picks. a popsicle stick sticks out at each end where the coupling is scene on the express coach with either a hole or a toothpick going through. you can figure out how they couple up. As for other rolling stock and engines I don’t really want to make any more. I feel rather uninspired to make them. If you want to watch a tutorial on how to make things out of cardboard I suggest you watch the master of lemons video titled. “ You can make tugs modes! ( How I make all models, Detailed walkthrough)” that’s where I learned the skills to make the express coaches. Like I said I feel rather uninspired to make more customs in the diapet range, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it either. I’m sure if you watch that walk through you’ll easily be able to make your own customs. after all it’s just cardboard tape and a bit of paint what’s the worst that can happen you restart? take care.
@@calebc.2290 well thanks . I am getting a Diapet Thomas in the mail so I wanted to make some troublesome trucks first and then I will give the try at the express in green and then Finlay the break down train and a breakvan perhaps
@@calebc.2290 and can we get a video on Henry ? And a final question will you make a toby ? Oh and do you have plans to get the other diapets and make more customs . Like the toby I said earlier . not forcing ya it’s only questions and suggestions
@@MaxwellTheTrainFan Next time it snows I will show henry. I will probably not make a toby in diapet scale and I will not show off the cardboard made express coaches.
Well, the express coaches are made out of cardboard, acrylic paint, masking tape and mod podge. Originally they were running on Lionel O gauge bogies. However, Recently I found out that the diapets are s gauge so I swapped them out for s guage bogies. As for the track it’s just the og trackmaster track with the molded rails sanded off. Again found out it’s S gauge so I’ve bought a lot of s gauge track recently so next time I do film that’s what I’ll be using. As for What else I’ve made. I made a custom Diapet Henry, but it’s huge and out of scale and I need to redo him. In truth though this was such an awkward scale to work with and when I made my custom Henry I cannibalized my Gordon model you see in the video for the chassis and when I bought a new Gordon it took forever getting here and he wasn’t cheap. So I’m going to stick with a more manageable scale in the future. I think that’s everything I hope I answered everything. Take care.
@@MaxwellTheTrainFan ah, well I live in the states and when I go to train shows they have it up for sale and I buy some when I can. I want to say it’s lionel, but I’m not certain. I don’t know where you’d get s gauge track in the uk. Sorry I can’t help you there.
This is a really good custom expect u got the color wrong but who cares ik there are two different express one is dark green and one is red but Gordon mainly uses the green one overall good custom u did a good job on it
a bit of card board, wrapped up in masking tape, hot glue for more support on the inside, a bit of mod podge to seal down all the tape and to make it look all even, then painted with matte paint, finally to give it that shine more mod podge over all of them. the roofs are made out of flexed cardboard with recycled popsicles sticks glued down again with hot glue. finally the bogies are just lionel o scale bogies with toothpicks sticking out from underneath the coaches to keep them in place and to be able to pivot quite easy. I think that’s it if there are any other questions don’t hesitate to ask I will do my best to respond.
I know it would be a hassle, but I'm making A diapet Henry from scratch. And well I cannot for the life of me find measurements of Gordon!, If I ever get Gordon, I don't want Henry to be inproportioned so, If you could send some Measurements in cm, I would Love it! I subscribed also! So the body, Width of the boiler and footplate seperately, and the height. Thanks! And Sorry I I sound rude. No offense intended.
Alright give me a minute. Running board 19.4 cm long 4.3 cm wide. And .3 cm tall From smoke box to cab 17.5 cm long smoke box 3.5 cm Cab 2.5 cm Firebox 1.3 cm The circumference of Gordon is 3 cm The part underneath Gordon’s boiler is .8cm The tender is 8.8cm long with out the doors. The doors are .6cm The width is 4.2 cm. The total height from the dome to the wheels is 6.5 cm. If there is anything else I will do my best to respond.
when you used the trackmaster track...I felt that.
in a good way, or a bad way? because I did have to power tool the rails down the middle in order to give gordon the best running.
those last 3 coaches looks comfortable to sit in
gordon loved pulling the tall express.
nice work tho
Dang now those are some really good custom Express coaches for the Diapet range and i loved the vid overal the music was really good too!

the gordon theme in this video sounds like a soundtrack for a railway series film

Good Work.
A diapet Henry would be something to see
If that thing were real. the first thing I’d be doing is a winter themed morning run.
