    Let's talk about Public vs Private hospitals in Dominican Republic and which one should you choose based on your illness and injury. In this video I share with you the difference in the two facilities to help you make an informed decision at the time of treatment. Do you mean that even an expat or tourist would get free service for minor problems at a public clinic or public hospital ? But the fact that the non-rich Dominicans can't afford private medical services with better equipment and supplies must be very problematic. How does the government and the public system staff and doctors feel that they can't get the supplies and equipment??

    I had a mild stroke (TIA) in Sosua last year on July 3rd, 2019 that left me partially paralyzed with slurred speech. I was taken to Cabarete Medical Hospital. The facility itself was above average and medical care very good. I recovered after about 6 hours and my medical bill was about $500.00, but you can’t put a price on your health. Very satisfied that I was taken to this facility.

    • @NorberisR
      @NorberisR  4 года назад +1

      Sounds like you had a positive experience which is good. In terms of the medical bill would you consider that expensive in terms of what you would have paid in the US or your home country? Also did you have insurance?

    • @la2sa

      Norberis R. .....My U.S. health insurance did not offer global coverage. CMH wanted a major credit card with at least $5000.00 USD hold as deposit. In my situation, unable to speak clearly or walk, at that time, I said I didn’t care how much it cost, I just needed to be seen by a doctor. Fortunately for me, I recovered after about six (6) hours.

    This is really becoming a decision of whether to live in a Town like Cabrera. Or a City like Santiago or Puerto Plata for the proximity of the Hospital services...
    On a lighter note! I saw you in those "Black framed" driving glasses of yours in the thumb nail picture! That "School Teacher" look! I'll watch anything you put up on RUclips when I see you in those Lol !!! All jokes aside, great Vlog as ususal #Hotep

    • @NorberisR
      @NorberisR  4 года назад +2

      Yes, this could influence your decision but I recommend if Cabrera is you city of choice I would research what type of medical care they have in this town. Because it can vary by town. Cabrera is a city with expats so the medical care can possibly be better than say a smaller town that doesn't host expats. Lol...regarding the glasses. That not me on the thumbnail in glasses...lol! Oh my God oh my God I had one of the worst experiences of my life I suffered an upper respiratory infection and they thought that it was covered and at the time they rushed me to the hospital not realizing I have private medical insurance card in my wallet my girlfriend at the time is Haitian and she can understand what the hell I was saying and they took me to this private public Hospital which was in my opinion the house of death and I wish I would have seen this video to prepare me because it would no sheets no pillows no tissue paper and I had a very bad experience with the ivies who in this world well the IV poles to the bed so that means you can't get out of the bed and there's no bedpan for you to use the bathroom so you know what happened I defecated and urinated on myself for two days and I was screaming and yelling for help it with no buttons to get help or nothing I had blood going into my bladder they put in a catheter wrong I was bleeding internally it was just a hollow experience to the point I had to sign myself out and thank God I had to cover test they just said that I had a real bad case of asthma which caused the upper respiratory distress they were going to try to milk and because I was an American and I pull all the needles out and then they got me home and they left a pic needle in my chest that I forgot to take it out so I had to go back to the hospital to take that pic line out! So be advised do not come here to play if you do not prepare to have I never known your credit card or some fantastic expat Insurance like I have I never leave home without it this is a great video great information

However DR is a country like many others who still have many cases in certain cities like Santo Domingo, Santiago, and Puerto Plata.
