What is Medical Genetics? | Oncology | Treatment of Genetics Disorders| Fortis Mulund
The genetic principles on which the medical practice is done on medical genetics. Here in this video, we see Dr Anoop Rawool, a consultant geneticist practising at Fortis Hospital Mulund, speaking to us about the importance of medical genetics and how it plays an important role in different departments and how medical genetics can help patients from developing serious genetic issues.
Some genetic disorders can lead to cancers, continuous miscarriages, unexplained heart attacks or any other diseases which anyone in the family might have suffered from earlier, especially the blood relations or first or second-degree relatives. Based on the appropriate diagnosis genetic issues are found and treatments are done depending on the genetic finding with which the family member was already affected. Medical genetic play an important role in the field of oncology, ophthalmology, ENT, neurology, orthopaedics etc.
The most common field where medical genetics is used is in the field of oncology to find the hereditary syndrome leading to cancer and for the treatment to find the molecular genetics required for appropriate therapies. Comparatively in all fields, an appropriate diagnosis for medical genetics is very important to prevent further complications.
Medical genetics play an important role at the time of marriage or family planning to prevent any genetic issues from harming the foetus. The foetus might tend to develop genetic problems from the mother as well as the father. There 20% chance of the foetus developing spinal muscular atrophy if the parents are the carriers of this disease. Certain tests like amniocentesis or chronic villus samplings are done to test the foetus whether is a carrier of any genetic problems. To prevent your baby from developing any genetic issues, certain tests need to follow and help medical genetics to help you in every possible manner.

सबसे आम क्षेत्र जहां चिकित्सा आनुवंशिकी का उपयोग किया जाता है, ऑन्कोलॉजी के क्षेत्र में वंशानुगत सिंड्रोम का पता लगाने के लिए कैंसर होता है और उपचार के लिए उपयुक्त उपचारों के लिए आवश्यक आणविक आनुवंशिकी को खोजने के लिए। तुलनात्मक रूप से सभी क्षेत्रों में, आगे की जटिलताओं को रोकने के लिए चिकित्सा आनुवंशिकी के लिए एक उपयुक्त निदान बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।
