This was helpful doing the same thing cold winter night for my son on same vehicle With same spring plan I removed the 3 front 15 mm nuts But wasn’t moving your video was good for answering that With the 2 in back and way to not have to mess with the lines Thank you We are Indy this was helpful
If it is completely frozen could that cause metal to be in the cooling system or should I be good just changing the compressor? I couldnt get my car to turn over, and so I changed the starter and battery thinking that was it. Still wouldnt crank but it wanted to. Took my serpentine belt off and the car cranked so I narrowed it down to a pulley. Turns out my a/c compressor was completely frozen to the point were the car couldn't turn over. Just need to know if everything needs to be flushed before changing out the compressor or if it is safe to just change out the compressor.
I know this comment is old, but hopefully, my comment still has some use. The ac commpresser being ceased and exploding won't cause for metal shavings going into the cooling system or oil. The ac is externally mounted and not connected to the cooling or oil system. The ceased pully can cause the belt to come off and if it's really bad the engine wont turn over. The best thing to do is replace the ac compression or do a bypass/ ac delete.
Question sir, so my compressor hasn't gone out yet bit recently started making noise from the pulley of the ac compressor, my question is since you rigged your sons car does it still make noise from the bad bearings in that ac compressor pulley? And did you just unbolt the compressor and disconnect the ac lines?

So how did you rerouted the belt
He didn’t need to reroute the belt. He put an AC bypass pulley
So what did you do about the extra slack in the belt ?
He put an AC bypass pass pulley. There is no extra slack

I cant find the bypass pulley anywhere do you know where i can get one?
the first 3.8 had an alternative belt routing and a delete pulley was not necessary.
Really clean engine
I have a 97 Buick just as clean lmao

The sound is the ac clutch burning. You would have to either replace the whole commpresser. do a delete or bypass the ac.
My compressor just locked up what size belt do i need to by pass the AC?
this same engine can't bypass on my buick need the dummy pulley and a new belt fairly cheap. didn't know it was this easy.
Love you chuck
Where do you get that kit can you get it at a part store?
Autozone
fixing cars like this is not smart for emergency yes for a permanent repair definitely foolish
That shit was horrible
