How did we end up here?
It all began with a year of full-time travel, embracing the van life until the world shifted, and we had to adjust accordingly. With travel no longer an option but determined to stay productive, we transformed our compact mobile abode into a self-sufficient off-grid dwelling that fulfilled all our needs. Recognizing the uncertainty of the current tiny home, we quickly realized a permanent residence was the most sensible choice. Over the past three years, we have meticulously overseen every aspect of the project ourselves, planning the construction while simultaneously setting up the off-grid property to sustain our future food requirements. For the last two years we've lived in a Geodesic Dome, which has allowed us to be comfortable (expect for the winter months), while we realize our shipping container home dream. However, this will mark our 4th winter with stable electricity, running water, or a flushing toilet and time has come to come up with a new plan going forward.

We don’t accept defeat often but I think the dirty rug won this one LOL…it was definitely one of those weeks when we were saying to ourselves “should we really be sharing this?” But hey, this is what our week looked liked so I hope you didn’t mind being a fly on the wall to see the chaos unfold 😂
Hi T.T.C.E.L ❤
@@JayMills-08 Hi!!
Great vlog guys!!!
@@juliusdixon898 Thanks Julius!
I love being a fly on the wall for your projects guys. You make my Mondays a great start to the week, especially now that Winter is here.
"Built-ins??!?!" 🤣That bit killed me.
Honestly though, one thing I love about your videos is that you show failures. You show disagreements. But you adjust and you move on. Life goes on. It's not the end of the world.
I feel his pain…Todd keeps throwing projects at him to the point he’s getting overwhelmed!
@@stirrednotshaken4823 ...it's just his payback for all the used boats I'm forcing him to look at on the buy & sell LOL
As someone who is frequently overwhelmed by redesigning my space, I really empathize with you. At least you both laugh at the absurdity 😊!!!
@@tylerandtodd 🤣 fair enough then!
The Bunkie 😂😂😂
Wow those owl shots are amazing!!!
Slow down. Pick one project, the container house and get it done. Everything at the lake house is good, don’t make more stress on yourselves. Use that as your distressing space and enjoy the lake ❤
They are also trying to make content
Yah I feel that
The reminder in the kayak that it’s okay for things to not go as planned… really loved that. ❤
"Kayaking...?" They Should Have told Michelle They Were Already Up Shit Creek Without A Paddle When They Were Stuck In The Door Taking Legs off The Wrong End! 🤣.....🙄
I love when you guys find out you have to fill the cracks and level the floor and you both just start laughing. That is the best way to handle it
yep! what a team...and including the going back and forth...awesome..
What I love about your videos, especially ones where thing's aren't going smoothly, is that you both always find a way to laugh..
Your container home will be stunning and I can't wait to see it complete.
“You really are a 5 year old” was this supposed to be a criticism? That’s a compliment in my book 🤭 🙌🏾🎈🧸
totally agree
It is a complement. I will never age, mentally at least, past 5 yrs old. Who wants to anyway?
Growing old is obligatory... Growing up is optional. 😁👋🇦🇺
Not renovating the basement was a temporary disappointment. Not having gotten out on the lake on a beautiful sunny day would have been tragic. When you're old and gray, it will be the kayaking memories that bring the biggest smiles to your faces. I speak from experience.😊
Squirrel, Charlie, and Eddie don't care about the floor being concrete or that things don't work out. They just get on with life. Mental overload is not fun. Having the skills to check mental overload is imperative. You guys definitely show the skills. Thank you for reminding us of that.
I nearly lost it at “we could just take the wall down”! The dirty carpet under the couch was priceless too. It’s going to be ok guys! It is always astounding how nature can reset our spirits. It is indeed OK! Love how you call out being present in the moment with the loons. A perfect loon ending to a totally looney day! Hang in there guys! ❤
Amazing owl footage at 6:31 & 8:05. Water therapy always helps!
My Favorite Boys, my Dynamic Duo. I love how, when you become frustrated and overwhelmed, you reset by going kayaking on the beautiful lake. I like how the welders thought of a way to fix a previous problem for you, saving you time, and I am sure, money. Shout out to Dumpy and the Welders 👏👏 Although you do have a lot of projects in mind, I am sure you will prioritize and get them all done, eventually 😊 Sending Love and Hugs to Tyler and Todd and their Lil Family 💙💙🐶🐶🐈⬛
It wouldn't be Sunday without you guys!! Thanks for posting. Your vids are inspiring and awesome!!!!
Thanks for being here with us, Jack!
for sure!
LOL!!! Only canadians would say 73 degrees is hot.
LOL so true
...but, it is!

It'll hit 100 again soon , we already had few days that hot in spring.
23°C is hot! Love, the UK 🤭😅🤣
I used to watch a lot of decorating and home improvement shows and on one of them they had problems with an unlevel floor. I think it was a porch that had been enclosed. They used a self leveling product. It was like a thick liquid, pour it on, spread it around. It fills in the low spots as it cures.
Being in nature is a great way to center yourself and remind yourself of what is important - or not important.
Hello guys, since the beginning of the container home build it was very obvious how unique it would be. That being said, I give you credit for always finding your way to clarity when you hit bumps in the road. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Love you to pieces.
This is my favorite video of the year so far. It had all of the things I’ve grown to love about the channel in spades. ❤
We 100% love seeing the imperfections in this episode. We all make mistakes, and you guys embrace it. So so love.
Thanks for adding a smile to my Sunday. Sometimes nature is the best medicine for clarity...and peace. Have a great week.
You’re so correct that failing or having things not go well is what usually happens for all of us. It’s how we learn. How we grow. It makes success all the sweeter.
I’m worried about someone falling and getting hurt on those stairs down to the concrete room. Be careful!!!!
Loons are utterly amazing. Love you both.
I love that the loons brought clarity. Nature is a wonderful curative power. I’m glad you embraced it!
Nobody puts flooring in a basement. Especially subterranean floors. They need to be able to breath and sometimes sweat. I have always just polished them and used area rugs. Also it is far easier to clear out a flood from bare concrete than a subfloor.
Guys. This has to be the funniest of your videos yet. I'm sorry for all the problems that have arisen. Still, I laughed so hard during this one probably because we've all had the same sort of hiccups you've had. And we've most likely had those little irritating flareups along the way. Live long and prosper, Guys. It's not the outcome that matters, but the journey. Thanks for the laughs.
Kayaking clears your head out. Just to have that long uninterrupted vision of distance, the smell of the water.... It's the best. You are so fortunate to be able to hear Loons! Yes, it gives you clarity.
Can't someone use a coat of self-leveling concrete on top of the unlevel concrete floor to even it out? Then, put down the blue underlayment to retain heat, and your luxury vinyl flooring on top of the underlayment. Might be prudent to let a professional level the concrete. You guys can do the rest. I love how you two can agree to disagree without making it personal. I always enjoy getting the notification each week that you've posted a new video. It makes my day! Have a great week, Todd, Tyler, and the fur babies... ❤
First if the crack in the concrete is needing filled do it. Then put down a plastic moisture barrier, then put dow your blue insulator material, then put down your LVP to float over the floor, reinstall the baseboards.
The look on Tyler's face at 14:08 had me howling with laughter. In fact, I was laughing through most of this video, watching you two act like an old married couple. Oh - and the footage of the birds - especially the owls - was SO cool. Most important, remember this little nugget of Scarlet O. wisdom: tomorrow is another day!
Guys, I am loving the video of your owls! So beautiful!
You can still cover the majority of the concrete with rugs which will be warmer and offer better insulation. Or just carpet the entire floor with a durable attractive all weather carpet. Again, insulation and less wear on your hips, knees and feet over time. You’re both young but some of your more senior guests will appreciate it.
I have never laughed so much through one of your videos. We have all been there. I laugh, cry, cuss, and throw things, and then laugh some more. Thank you for sharing this.
Watching you interact while partnering on projects is always entertaining. I hope things go smoothly from here but, challenges are truly your jam.
Take the rug outside on a dry warm day and pressure wash it. It’ll take minutes and you’ll see the dirt roll right off. It’ll look like new.
always remember the loons and the peace you have in nature. Loved the clip today.
One thing I have learned from watching your videos over the last few years is to never build a container home. You guys would have saved so much time and money if you would have built a stick built home from scratch. And I say this with all of the love in my heart. But you two are like me....I make things more difficult than they have to be. Much love to you two ❤
Time out for your mental health is an extremely important part of life. When you are constantly challenging your mind on a daily basis, You need at least one day per week for rest and relaxation. You guys have an absolutely gorgeous lake front property. So use it! Even if it is simply a stroll around, or taking a book and sitting down with a beverage. Your mental health is way more important than finishing any building task.
Love you two boys. You are both absolutely gorgeous souls. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. Sending love from Down Under 🇦🇺
💙💙
My favourite productivity quote: 'Perfection is the enemy of done'. Keep up the amazing work. The everlovely and I love your videos!!
Loved the wildlife video and sounds. You don't see two owls sitting around that way often
As I've mentioned before, we love watching your videos. And Taylor's kayak admission about the importance of de-stressing reminded me of something that Thoreau once said/wrote - - "nature has a way of setting all things right".
It is always OK to not be perfect ❤ I am so proud of you both for realizing that we (your loving Internet family) love seeing the good, the bad, and the ugly with you two.❤ It helps people know it's OK to just BE, and not always have to be perfect.❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who leaves wet laundry in the washer for days. Please give Squirrel an extra pet for me and the boys too.
I can say one thing. We absolutely love you guys. Thanks for always keeping it real and making us laugh and sometimes cry. So happy to see your accomplishments.
love love love
Your ability to acknowledge that sometimes things just happen and that you need to role with it was a great check in for me. Thanks.
Could Not Wait to See You this Week !!! All of Your Hard Work has proven to be Worth it ! So Proud of Your Persistence !!!😁❤️❤️❤️
GREAT SHOW!! I actually needed this today!! I was cleaning up the backyard, from a winter and early spring of being ignored, and oh my God, every time I moved something it was one mess after another, vegetation and animal. I had a halfway clean chair to sit down in, prop my feet up on a planter box and cracked open a beer and opened my computer. Wondering if I was going to stop or keep going. After watching this, I'll keep going, even if the weekend is over and it's going to be another week before we can use the yard. What the heck, I've got a bubble bath with my name on it waiting for me.
After a large family barbeque, my friends husband loaded all the trash bags in the car to be taken next day to the dump. But, he decided to leave the windows open so it wouldn't stink up the car. Yep, raccoons thought it was an all you can eat buffet inside the car.
😳
I must say the comments are so entertaining. I enjoy them as much as I enjoy the videos. You guys rock subscribers. The humor everybody gets y'all. We just I mean we subbies get you and it's amazing cuz you got people from all walks of life and everybody just vibe out on your videos. The TNT crew is divine.❤
You probably hear this a good bit but I mean it from the bottom of my black little witchy heart. But I love you guys and love watching your adventures and misadventures. You're right and you have the perfect place to gain clarity there at the lake. Peace out my bros.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Have an awesome week
Being outside is the most peaceful place. Gives me clarity.
Excellent videos. Wonderful how in tune you are with each other. Example of a good life well lived and deserved. Thanks.

I paused it randomly and look, look how much Tyler is appreciating and Loving Todd. From my boyfriend Joshua and I, we love you both. Happy Pride Month.
frustration will eventually lead to a resolution - that resolution will be the conclusion leading to the satisfaction that is wanted. Simply put don't let frustration get you down - it is only temporary.
This was one of the most real renovation videos I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever started a project that didn't go off the rails pretty quickly because the directions didn't get ready thoroughly or properly or that one part was missing from a box and it was a vital part, or some such thing. I love you guys. Thanks for sharing what real renovation looks like for most of us.
Bugger I nearly missed you….oh I love you guys you make me smile from beginning to end…don’t ever change ❤
This video really made me laugh. My husband and I joke that we live in the House of Good Enough all the time. LOL! We've literally been renovating our house for THIRTEEN years now and there's no real end in sight. But we're having fun, so who cares! EVERYTHING is a make-work project. You would NOT believe what we've done in the last two months. Home ownership is ridiculous, but as long as you keep laughing together, and remember to have fun, it's definitely worth it. Love from another couple of Canadians on a gulf island out west.
I love to see you guys laugh. Life is hard, but smiles and laughter can get you through. Much love from SW France. ❤️🍷
I love watching this channel because they are such a bright and cheery and beautiful couple with quirky attitudes. I wish I had what they have.
Okay
I just HAD to bust out laughing SO HARD over the filthy rug.
THAT? That was hilarious.
There was nothing else to do but laugh.
* so awesome with Todd immediately doing: okay, PLOT TWIST.
Absolutely love you guys!
Major yikes moment
1000% percent. We “should” clean it but I vacuumed it a bunch. Hahaha
Not having Todd laugh and make some kind of joke when Tyler said “Loose Cavity” a few times made me sad 🤣🤣🤣
This episode has to be the funniest, the carpet needs cleaning no it dosent yes it does no.........oh yer but we can cover it with the sofa that will work hahahahahahah
Happy Sunday guys,1st.of all a big thank you to Uncle D.for taking this journey with to help with the container home.so many parts are happening all in a good way. It's good to step back an enjoy the lake house.an that beautiful lake. The basement adventures always turn into fun with great debating an some crazy ass laughing. Like oh just put the counch over the dirty spot. Lol you both make our Sundays. Just a thought look into doing a cement leveling you pour it on the floor it seals an levels all on its own.you can put a color in it an have a stain floor put rugs down for winter ,pick them up for summer. I did this in my home the stain looks like coke the kind you drink it has a rusted tan brown look.love it.sealed it when I was done with a wall base seal rolled it on.an can be update when needed.the floor vac, works great on it. Have a beautiful week.thanks for always sharing we are all family here. In closing. Happy Pride Month from The USA. Louisiana..hugs an love to all.🏳️🌈🏳️🌈❤️
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I'm dying here......"it snowballs"....what an understatement!!!!! You're right, Tyler.....in the end it doesn't matter. Chalk one up for the loons.....and go pour some wine!
“Ohhh, it’s dirty.” With the Todd giggle, totally got me.😊. But had I been in Tyler’s shoes, oh the language you would have heard.
Feeling slightly called out by Tyler for having voted for the bunkie! Sorry Tyler! I laughed out loud when you went from renovating to decorating in the span of (for us) 5 seconds! But the basement for now is perfect for you guys as you focus on all the many other tasks you are tackling! Keep up the hard work! Loved the video as usual!! ❤
That song “all this work and what did it get me… why did I do it” that’s going around social media now feels perfect for the basement part of this weeks video 😝
Guys…PLEASE don’t lead with “Things didn’t work out (and that’s okay) because I thought it was going to be about you two and my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. You guys are a match made in heaven and all is right in the world. Love you guys so so much.
That is exactly why they are doing this, it generates more clicks because people need to know what's going on when they fear the worst. Can't blame them though, the youtube algorithm is brutal. I also don't like titles like this but yea. It's more effective to do these click-baity dramatic titles that imply much worse things than to outright say what's going on
Oh my god!!! The carpet unrolling made me burst out laughing 🤣 out loud!!!! You guys were too funny with your trials and tribulations 😂
"There's one spot on it"....had me laughing out loud!
...one clean spot maybe LOL
Yeah. One spot that was *clean* ! ;)
Me too!
Honest to god, I don’t know how you guys do all that you do. I just spent the past four days packing and moving and am totally a victim.
You give me hope I will get through this and survive!! Love you two!
Been waiting all weekend 🩵✌🏽
arguing over the carpet, Todd says come here, Tyler gets a hug, Tyler walks out carrying the carpet!! FN CLASSIC!!! lmao
I've been hoping I was wrong about the rain getting in. Snow will be worse because leaks can last as long as it takes to melt. Just a thought.
You probably should have re-sealed every edge of the containers first before starting anything else. When you showed water leaks inside the container home 2-3 weeks ago, I thought I saw where water got through in spaces that wasn't just around the windows. Like you said, water will always find a way.
You guys are priceless . You don't need to fill that tiny crack and don't worry the floor is level enough for that product.
You guys are perfectionists? Imagine my shock. 👍Good idea covering the dirty rug with the couch.
the couch that couldnt make it thru the door was a hoot! i had a hallway that after drywall was completed by a "pro" the washer and dryer couldnt fit thru the hallway because the vertical walls were not even ...by over an inch. wtf!!! and the dressers and everything going into the laundry room and master must now fit thru those screwed up walls....
all future construction is intensely micromanaged, now, in the nicest way.
that same contractor built a permitted addition, which is now being rebuilt because the exterior wall dettached from the structure and roof caved in when i opened the door several years later. the two nails and one 3 foot long 2x4 held the wall in place for several years. a permitted structure byba "professional"!
@@AmericanDrainWorks In my experience the "professionals" don't always have all the answers. I had a bunch come out to my farmhouse to break down some unwanted walls, level the floors, install a patio door, etc. Needless to say, everything had to be redone (the floors are still unfinished two years later as my cats love wet concrete), because they had no common sense. When I pointed out some obvious issues, they got annoyed and slowed down. I sent them packing, denying the boss man access to my property, which annoyed him so much he brought the police to the house complaining that I wouldn't let him explain himself🤐 (how cuckoo is that). NEVER trust the "professionals" blindly, ALWAYS project manage, and ASK QUESTIONS when something being done makes no sense.
I obviously refused to pay them any further because he kept adding to the price for things we had originally discussed 😮💨. It's so important to have a contract in place, clearly outlining the work required, with a quotation in writing. No upfront payments, order and pay for materials yourself (they add onto that and don't pass on discounts) a lesson learned from my mom but inconveniently and sadly forgotten. I found a local tradesman (jack of all) who fixed the ceilings, installed pot lights, and finished off my bathroom floor tiles, things we couldn't live without. I learned a lot from him, and he let me lend a hand when I didn't have enough funds to pay for a helper (pensioner here).
Being handy and having the tools in your shed is wonderful because it saves some money, but at the end of the day, things can still go wrong. That's why RUclips channels like this are so convenient as they make you think about and see things from a different perspective.
Todd is a mastermind, he makes it all look so effortless, which is why I love these two so much.🥰🥰🥰
Ah, you guys, you both crack me up. Nature clarity is a healer in many ways, so I think we all need to go to whatever nature place we feel calm.
This episode is worth watching at least 5 times!!!!!! Thank you both for the comic relief. Your both so human and real it’s always refreshing to see you both smile and laugh at the ups and downs life throws at you.
You always have so many things on the TO DO list so you CAN switch horses but I love when you (esp Ty) just say "enough!" and you take a break. Your capacity for rolling with the punches and adapting your plans is always inspirational. On the water with the loons was really a cool segment and an opportunity for a reset. I know as for others, a Sunday visit with T&T is must-see TV. I enjoy welcoming you into my home while you share yours. You are amazing!
Put the couch over the dirty spot on the rug. Perfect solution! Love how you two work so well together, and Thank You for another video of your lives together.
I forgot.... The owl with a fledgling.
Yes, you had a crazy day and it didn't seem like any of the tasks were done. But you are so right; having a visit with the Loons, with Todd and family is what makes this journey so perfect. You also got a glimpse into the direction the basement project, what needs to happen next and where it's heading because you have more info to visualize results! It's a win/win with a small breakdown in the middle. You are so wonderful!
Sometimes, you just need to just stop, breathe, and go listen to the loons! You two are very sweet, silly, crazy, and bit chaotic, and those of us that follow you would not have it any other way!
You do bring us joy either at the end of our week or at the beginning. Thank you for just being you, two loving guys just making a beautiful life for yourselves and you’re allowing us to come along for the ride.
Thank you! Looking forward to next Sunday! Have a wonderful week. 🩷🩷🩷
I live for you guys every Sunday. And I’m sorry, I know you were having a frustrating time of it, but this weeks video was a laugh a minute. I rewound 3 times to see the look on Tyler’s face when he saw how dirty the rug was!! Thanks for showing real life!!
‘Oh, you’re serious’ got me laughing so much! So glad you took the time to kayak and enjoy the nice weather and where you are, balance!!
Omg with the clickbait titles! Why?
I agree....its annoying and its not needed
Each of us has a different idea of how long something we're working on Should Take. Last week of May showed me that TIME is the boss. I'm loving your trusting process as much as the End Game as the 😊 75year old Vanc Island.
Well things really didn’t quite work out..and it was ok. 😂
Read the description it explains it.
You clicked? That’s why!
This might be my favourite one. I relate so much to the perfectionism and snowball of ideas and projects. Decision paralysis leading to project delay (or abandonment) is our life!
This is why I continue to watch your channel and have dropped so many others. You are willing to show us the reality of the situation, both good and bad. I don’t like to see you struggle and even get overwhelmed at times, but at the end of the day, you both try to stay positive and continue to love each other. We all go through this….it’s life, but your commitment to each other is heartwarming. Hang in there; continue to try to take it one day at a time and you guys can get through anything! ❤️❤️❤️
Tyler & Todd, thanks for sharing this video. I can't even count the number of days I went to bed at night further behind than the moment I woke up that morning - it just happens. I really like that you both can still laugh about all this at the end of the day - and work with what you have. Our best work over the years came through our compromises - and sometime those compromises included a 3rd party of unknown origin who became involved at the last moment. Based on your history of work, I will tell you - you will get these projects done, and you will still pick up more projects along the way so it seems like a never-ending challenge. So long as you have each other - that is all you truly need. Thanks again for the video!
You two were like Laurel and Hardy while “working” on the basement project - bringing on lots of chuckles! Thanks for being so real and entertaining!
You seem like the two of you are so happy together and at the end of the day, tomorrow will come and go but you two will still have each other to talk , reflect and love! Enjoy every moment you have with each other!😊
Sometimes I just get tired watching you guys work!!! You could never be accused of being lazy or unmotivated!! I will venture to say, you will never run out of new projects!! Have a great and safe week! Love the way the house is looking!
I'm Todd and my husband is Tyler when it comes to projects. Absolutely love the real life stuff on your channel
I just love how transparent you are when things aren't going as "planned". You two are so good together and truly make me laugh out loud. I look forward to your videos and watching you two tackle life together.
My new catch phrase for my life is « some days are not meant to be successfulll » . Watching you guys is a lesson in what a good relationship can look like - the way you negotiate , navigate , support each other - the affection and humour is 💯percent. The film and editing are ace - the footage of the 🦉 owls is breathtaking . ❤ from Grimsby Ontario
I just updated my very small kitchen and now it looks bigger and brighter, I even built a coffee nook, my mind was full of ideas, its the execution of the great ideas, that is the real work.
I havent done anything for the last 4 days, I'm sure my great ideas for the other projects will pop in my head any minute now and I'll be at it for more 16 hour days, but dang, when each task is done, that sense of pride is just joyful.
Ya know the bulkhead that jogs out from under the stair case and then jogs back in? I would put up a shelf from where it jogs in to the wall and use it to display finished Lego projects! This suggestion is not to take away any existing plans for Lego building and display but to add to it !
You two finally have your sense of humor back. I just sat here laughing at you. Don’t give up Please
Your stamina for frustrations continues to amaze me…looking on the bright side
Tyler, your shared moment of clarity was wonderful.
Some days are just looney tunes, but I'm glad you stopped before a wall came down. Thanks for keeping it real!
