Too many haters on here! Under all the pressure, nothing is perfect, but she killed it!! And for all of you saying she is too light, the actress is LITERALLY hispanic. I don't know what else you all want. Coming from a hispanic, I loved it.
Having a princess that speaks Spanish and looks like me, even if she's just a TV cartoon princess, made me cry... Thank you Disney.

This is not a coronation, this is an introduction. She's a Disney Princess yes, but she's like Sofia who is only on TV which is a different franchise for Disney. This introduction was mostly made to show that Disney has more diversity now within their whole character line and also a lot of people were wanting a Hispanic Princess. Not every Disney TV character will have an introduction, this one was made because of the excitement and hype over the first ever Hispanic Princess.
Basically, she's a princess owned by Disney but not an officials Disney princess.

Ok GOOD. Because I didn't like the idea of them having an official Disney Princess that was exclusively for little kids. The great thing about the Princesses is that everyone can be a fan of the franchise because they're all from movies that are entertaining to teenagers and adults as well. Adults are not getting excited over Disney channel cartoons they're forced to watch with their kids, and teenagers are not watching them at all. I'm an adult and I barely even know who Elena and Sofia are, but I LOVE all the characters in the official Disney Princess lineup.

I'm just glad they got Cinderella's dress color right. It was always silvery white, not a sheer blue.
I can't wait to meet Elena someday! I even love her red dress, red is one of my favorite colors. And when she sang "My Time", it is so fantastico! I love the song!

Many people are confused and thinking that Elena is a Spanish princess. She is not! Elena is actually supposed to be latina, very sad that Disney did not researched well on hispanic/latin culture and they went for some type of spanish twist (?) This makes people think that latin culture is like that but is not. It is true that most hispanic countries where conquered by Spain but still they are completely different cultures. I would have loved to see a princess that truly represented latino culture and one that I could relate to. Hate when they try to represent latin culture and they fail miserably by confusing it with Spanish european culture.

Well, I believe Disney is doing a great effort to include us Latinos or to have us feel we have our princess... I think it is important especially these days were we find a lot of division and hate towards that part of the population. I think the princess is beautiful. Muy buena elección, Disney :)

Anna isn't an official Disney Princess. 'Frozen' is it's own franchise.
I'm happy to finally see a hispanic princess but it seems like they added her just to add her for diversity. Where's her movie? Is a show all she gets? They did the same with Sofia the first. Every other nationality is presented in a movie so why can't we have that too?
they technically both had movies. Sofia The First: Once Upon A Princess aired before the series started, and Elena and the Secret of Avalor aired after Episode 10.

She is the first Hispanic prices she can be from anywhere you want Spain, México, Colombia, chile, etc... This is why I love Elena because she represent all the Hispanic countries so people please don't fight about where she is from she can be from where ever you want her to be from of course it has to be a Spanish speaking country.

I am so glad Elena was introduced! I am a little confused though. She was introduced so quickly. Was Sofia even introduced? Elena of Avalor isn't even a movie. I think Disney messed up a little. They should have brought out an Hispanic Princess the same way as others not just rushed her out. I don't think that's fair. As the custom goes the movie comes out and the princess is introduced. I say they need to have a full blown movie for her and add that to the vault. Disney needs to get it together and be equal.

To be fair, Snow White is cast too old as well. She's only 14! Ariel, Jasmine, and Aurora are only 16 as well. But for obvious reasons (child labour laws) they have to cast adults as these characters. Even Alice is played by an adult, she just looks young.

As a Hispanic, I feel like they just wanted to get the Hispanic princess out of the way by making a kids show out of her. I think if they're going to have Disney Princesses they should have their own movie. Not a little kids show. Its a little bit insulting and pretty annoying.
Also, why is Cinderella always the leader and voice of the Princesses? Shouldn't it be Snow White since she was the FIRST Disney Princess to come into existence?

I feel like Elena would have been so much better for a movie followed up with a TV show. There will have been more reason to do this then and Elena had so much potential in my opinion to be a really awesome Latina princess! They flushed this opportunity down the drain.

By why just a show?! I feel like even though it is, it's not really official. Why don't we get a movie?! And yes I said we, I mean, let's be often, when a diverse princess is created it becomes a concept that the culture they represent is proud about. Basically everyone else has had a movie, why can't Latinos? Elena seems like a sweet princess, but I kind of hope they'll eventually create a princess who will be an official Disney princess like Cinderella or Tiana or Ariel. Also, in an interview, a producer said that she wasn't Latina, just based on Latino cultures... What?!

There's a possible chance that Elena will have a movie of her own. If you have seen the beginning of the first episode; her 15th Birthday, the amulet given to her, the evil queen that took over Avalor and how she was defeated. That beginning of the first episode SCREAMS Disney making a movie.
