Nollywood (in Lagos Nigeria) is the third largest film producing region after Hollywood and Bollywood.
Loved the I wonder who else didn’t have SKY TV comment😂
Another group of people this type of service could work for is for older people because they don't have to remember a username and password. They would just need to remember to go to Tubi and watch the something on it that they fancy. Plus they actually seem to have things that older people would watch
A very valid point!
@@PhilipMurphyExtra I had to sign in with my Google account.
I'm 67 and have all my faculties, thank you, though I did forget my username for the Council Tax account I set up recently, I am generally on top of my various streaming acvounts.
Tubi may suit some, especially with the plethora of streaming services making following online serialised drama more irksome.
Just don't assume everyone over 60 is a doddering dinosaur struggling with the modern world.
Some of us even manage to like, comment and subscribe to RUclips channels
@@neilgodwin6531 May of should of said, some especially ones with the nasty disease that effects older people such as dementia
umm older people can stick with cable tv. the stuff on there is not watchable anymore for anyone except elderly people.
Interesting that Tubi is bit like RUclips, not needing sign in to watch content with adverts which is easier for accessibility to people.
If you don't sign in, sure you can watch but you don't have the full-screen option.
@@RadioJonophone Rubbish! I'm watching 3 from hell fullscreen on my laptop and I'm not signed in!
@@sotkajarvi Indeed. I'm watching Tubi on my large screen TV and not signed in. There's no aspect ratio issues.
I think you give a good assessment of Tubi entering into the UK market - maybe the days of people paying for 3 or 4 services are over for the time being. Also there is the 2027 'deadline' for the possible revoking on the BBC franchise model. Cheers
I've never heard of TUBI but if it's going to offer a completely free service...? That's pretty darn good in this day and age, I'd take the ads and run 😂
I think you should do a video about the brand new pop up channel 😁😁😁
OMG I 100% agree
I also agree 👍
Thank you for making me aware of this. During my study abroad year I watched a lot of good/weird horror movies on there so having it at home would be brilliant.
As an American, Tubi is something I use when I search for a specific show/movie and it’s on there. Love not needing an account for it, and the amounts of ads is lower than a lot of pay services. Would work good with iPlayer and the other free Brit services, but still like the couple of pay services and supplement with Tubi when needed
The service, at least in the US, has the entirety of classic Doctor Who available on demand. I hate using a Fox-owned website, but this is the first time I can recall we've had classic Who for free.
Well Adam as a Brit that’s been living in America the past 24 years I’ve only been watching Tubi about 3 months or so, that’s because I was looking to re watch the British version of shameless and I found it on Tubi, there is some great programs and films on there too, it’s started getting bigger here in America ever since they started getting there app on smart TV’s honestly I can see the British public over there actually getting on it a lot once the word has got around, if I’m wrong I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure it’ll take off on Britain
A big misconception is Tubi is for older people, where the average viewer age is actually around late thirties-early forties. It caters to the much over looked market of "never adopters" who were at some point using TV for free and simply aren't interested in paying subscription after leaving conventional television. A group much larger and overlooked (and coveted by advertisers) than paid providers recognised, and on platform adoption is posing an actual threat to Disney.
It has ads but is completely upfront about it, and is respectful to the viewer when advertising (programs don't start with ads, advertising is brief, major advertisers as to spam/scams, ads seem to come on at appropriate moments in shows, app is stable).
The reality of Tubi is it is a wild west of content, picking up a massive trove of cheap disregarded programs that still have some sort of audience. There is no drawcards here, but cater heavily to the cult and bizarre. (Also hoards of garbage and canceled risqué content deemed unpurchaseable due to conventional streaming's mainstream sanitization). The result is a video store vibe, not just with the age and nature of much of the content (lots of b-grade, straight to video and HBO), but walls of curiosities. "Didn't have the movie we waned. Not to worry, this looks interesting."
This is the one video that will make me more relaxed then England leaving it until the 80th minute again. Nice video tho
Do you know the show Boarders on BBC Three apparently it's labeled as a tubi original as well as Lloyd of The Flies which was on CITV
Its like a Freevee Pluto TV Rakuten TV
Yes and tv plus Samsung vision
I have used Tubi here in the US. It does have a lot of good shows, Fox weather channel (Live TV channel), live channels and movies.
Nigeria is basically Africa vision of Hollywood and Bollywood. Tube was in 2018 but they shut it down. They attempted again & African vision is called Nollywood.
Eventually tubi should release in other parts of the country like France Japan New Zealand and even Asia
I've explored the app, and honestly none of the other streaming apps have anything to worry about, Tubi is just about par but not a challenging alternative to make any significant dent on the streaming landscape...
This is more of a relaunch as Tubi used to operate in the UK and Europe until 2018, when they had to withdraw from the UK and EU market due to the EU's General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) laws. Tubi's not really new in the UK, it's just been absent for 6 years.
To be truthful, I'm more than happy with iPlayer, ITV X, Channel 4, My5 and Discovery+. I'm still not completely sold on Disney+ yet, as I feel I'd only watch American Dad, Family Guy and The Simpsons. For any old skool sitcoms, I've got the DVDs. Love physical media!
A middle age never adopter like myself?
You sound exactly like a Tubi user.
You should return to The Ident Review Extra with looking at all idents of the BBC Two Personality 2 set individually!
I wonder who else didn’t have sky Tv is that Rishi joke
What does BBC, ITV, 4 and 5 have to do to convince people they are also viable streaming services and not just catchup services?
Release more of their back catalogs onto their services.
iplayer and C4 in particular have a fantastic collection
@@doctorninetytwo3300There are lots of shows that I'd like to watch that aren't even available on Dvd
If they bring over Fox exclusive shows like Wayward Pines, or Agents Of Shield, then i'm definitely interested.
I hope it succeeds as I have wanted Tubi to officially launch here for a while. I think once they possibly sort out better licensing deals, we will get better stuff.
My dad isn't much of a streamer but he has had a look at the horror movies on it and has made a list for them.
It sure seems to work OK with your browse or firestick. As to whether it will be successful is a different question. Seems to me to be a freevee alternative.
Tubi has been in Australia since September 1 2019, it's great. No offline downloads and no audio description are negatives for me
Tubi now has audio description but for some reason the Spanish titles haven't been removed and just include a Spanish dub for the original version same as with dubbed and subbed anime
@@jjcoolaus well there is in NZ
@@enderblazer479 thank you, I just found it, example the movie swim has audio description in the subtitle / caption settings option
I’m sure the people who need audio description would disagree
My Netflix is refusing to work on my Virgin Media box saying I'll need to upgrade my netflix package (aka go up a price tier) to work, really not sure why. But with that in mind, I'm probably going to unsubscribe to Netflix as a result so I'll probably use Tubi to fill the streaming gap in my life ( I say this as if I don't have Disney plus, World of Wonder Presents and Freeeve) , especially as it has Slay on it, I'd heard of Slay but I didn't know Tubi was over here now till this video, so I look forward to getting Tubi & watching it
I didn't know about this, thanks. Tubi is easy to join (does so on my gmail account without me having to enter in any details) and I've watched a few films. Seems great so far!
Tubi is very good. I've been using the U.S service for a bit. If you fire up your VPN you can access live channels through that, as well as a larger back catalogue of movies and archive U.S TV shows
I think the only thing that will effect it is much like other services that offer free content that isn't from a public broadcaster is that much of the content is all similar or the exact same. If you compare it with things like Freevee and Plex a lot of the selection is very similar and that being stuff that the rights holders will let anyone have for the lowest price with a selection of more premium bigger budget stuff that is usually on for a limited time. Although something interesting I noticed on this early launch is many of the collections of movies they have like Twilight as example is missing the first movie so either the right in the UK are tied to another streaming platform exclusively or they just couldn't get it. So it will be interesting to see if they ever have the kind selection that the U.S. has.
Murdoch wanted TalkTV as a platform for his own political agenda.
When GBNews appeared, more outspoken and more blatantly right wing, TalkTV because superfluous, but he didn't want to give it up completely, expecting GBNews to collapse imminently.
While that has not happened, it is on life support, propped up by its millionaire owner
Australia has had Tubi for a while…. There were two big problems that caused me to delete the service. Firstly, whilst the content is massive, most of it is trash. But the bigger problem is that it took up so much memory that it affected the performance of my Smart TV.
I don’t think the uk version will take off quickly because in the us they have more content on the app
gives us more to choose from though! No app has everything, also once you have the account all you need to do is tell the vpn you are in the states and you can access their library
@@doctorninetytwo3300 yes I tried vpn before doesn’t always connect
I agree. Until they build the library and start showing a lot more known movies and tv shows. Otherwise it’s not gonna succeed.
I think the pasqui super show English version will be all of the American and British streamings Example: BBC iplayer, iTVX & CBS, ABC, NBC Streamings and showtime streaming or Max. PSS english version Is on showtime! TUBI IS ON!!
started watching a Japanese 1970s karate film on it and..... no subtitles! just Japanese audio
Excellent AMTV News video Adam!
I'm not gonna use it because it's owned by Rupert Murdoch.
Disney
@@NOONGROUPMA huh?
@@themuppetdonDisney bought out Fox
@@JohnSimpson36 no, they brought 20th century FOX, and some other bits and bobs, but the FOX corporation is still an independent company, owned by Rupert Murdoch, containing the FOX news channels, that are all full of loons like Talk TV which Rupert Murdoch also owns.
@JohnSimpson36 they only bought the studios, the rest of Fox is still its own thing
Just did quick search it is available in the uk unsure if the content is free and I believe you have to sign up. I may give it a chance. I don't really mind if the same shows have already been broadcast which may have been broadcast already on Sky so if Tubi can bring these shows for free I would be happy with that.
Tubi has SOME decent content but it's mostly rubbish in The Asylum class movies. Tubi isn't a threat as of now but if they add more decent content, then maybe. They also need to improve their search function and have a filter or a sort option.
I agree, if they up their game and add much more movies (known movies and old blockbusters) then it may be a success. But as it stands its not a threat to any U.K. streamer.
It’s still early days though.
Tubi worked here in finland few years ago but they didn't advertise it at all afaik and I think nobody used it
I'm thinking Tubi would be very similar to like Pluto TV's on demand section but with more well known content
It w it works really well in the UK and so does Plex & Tubi work really well
Tubi's content in the US is great. I've been using it for a while with a VPN. With a cursory glance of Tubi UK's library it's nowhere near as good. If it wants to catch on it will need to match the US library.
That will cost a lot of money for licensing
@@enadegheeghaghe6369then it will fail if it doesn’t.
A threat to whom ?
Just watched some episodes of Sanctuary = Not Signed Up & No Ads (yet).
With Netflix scrapping it's cheapest subscription for an ad based plus fee subscription this could make them vulnerable to streamers like this.
I just cancelled Netflix because they did that.
I dont see Tubi lasting more than a year in
the U.K. personally
the U.K. version is piss poor in comparison
to the U.S. version
Tubi needs to offer better quality content & to just rubbish from the U.S.
It needs British content to survive in the U.K., and it has not got any U.K content ar all from what I have seen.
DO Adblockers work on Tubi?
I hear that Moonlighting is on it, so I'm in.
I actually have tried it its not bad there is some good content on there especially for Horror
Tubi is brilliant
Murdoch did t launch Sky, it was already going and he bought it a few years later.
There is NO subscription for tubi. You can ad an account but all that does is allow you to pick up where you left off on the movie that you're watching and to continue watching the next episode of the series you are watching.
I use the US version of tubi as there's a lot more content on that version of tubi.
Tubi USA has a substantial list of live tv channels which the UK version does not have.
Just want to correct you slightly. Tubi was here previously however EU rules prevented us for keeping it so it got region blocked. So it is reintroduced in effect.
Thanks. I oversubscribe to streaming services-I have six or seven-and I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never heard of Tubi!
Pluto TV (owned by Paramount) has also done OK, they seem the exact same.
Pluto TV was the only place I could access Mob Wives for a while. I don't know if it's still on there because I don't have the app any more because I had to get a new Google Chromecast and didn't download the app again.
Until (and if) it gets as good a catalog as the US version it’s not gonna do very well. If it had a vast catalog like the US id cancel some of my streaming sites.
ITVX is a big competition to it imo. It has much better movies available FREE with ads.
Even channel 4 has some good films FREE with ads.
Until Tubi ups it game then other streamers free and paid have nothing to worry about.
We have enough streaming platforms do we need another subscription?
It’s free!
tubi or not tubi.
I've used TUBI for years with a VPN.
Not really a threat I don't a lot of viewers will even know it exists.
How long will it be before Hulu finally launches in the UK?
🤷♂️
Disney+ owns almost all Hulu stuff in the U.K. so it probably won’t launch.
Tubi
State broadcaster don't need to make tv that people want. Sit back and tv tax roll in
Actually, there are a lot of youtubers in the UK who have been singing the Praise of Tubi for years and have been showing viewers who to access it with a VPN.
I watched 2 documentaries on tubi
You don't have to create a account to watch tubi. I've tubi on both my fire stick and phone and watch without creating an account.
Tubi will build fan base then become subscription based ..greedy owners cant cope if not getting mass cash
The CEO says she's aiming the service more towards the tiktok and youtube crowds, so I doubt there's going to be any subscription fee. Besides the company already has a subscription services, they're called Hulu and Disney+.
doubt that
Hi Adam Martin don't buy cheap electronics safely
Tubi won't do anything for mei hate watching old 720p content.
U don't need to make an acount to watch u only need an acount to save your prgoress.
Will it have YOUNG SHELDON season7? I am SICK of having to wait an exorbitant amount of time to watch US shows. WHY can't HBO MAX be a thing over here?
I'm an unemployable on welfare (because I have a disability), that means I CANNOT get a VPN because DWP can TRACK VPNs and can stop folks from claiming when they need to because they're apparently in the "wrong country" which creates a nightmare situation because you then have to try and prove that you are in UK and are British.
Netflix will get the WWE Network content as of January 2025. I *DID* have Sky for a while as a kid and I got it back last May after REMOVING myself as a customer from Virgin Media the previous April - they are disgustingly ableist.
We have Pluto TV here which is free.
It won't have any recent stuff for free on there and Channel 4 has Young Sheldon on it so if you want the most recent season then that is your best bet. As for the VPN you just simply turn it off when on a site that needs you real location to work it doesn't have to be turned on or off 100% of the time.
@@freddiejohnson6137 I appreciate that but I am STILL not getting one unless a functional adult gets it for me and I pay them back. I'm too much of a [insert ableist slur of your choice here] to remember to do that. Channel 4 only has up to Season 6 it does NOT have Season 7. Maybe once they finish showing Dance Moms reruns.
It’s a question unlike anything before. And I’m just kidding. 🤔🤔
Tv 📺
I hate the name so much. Haha. It looks very childish, like it should be a CBeebies version of Netflix.
And I can’t help but want to instinctively pronounce it as “tubby”. 🤪
I won’t use any service from Rupert Murdoch.
Should scrapped Hulu then because it's the Fox to Disney+.
I use a VPN to access Tubi in the US. As far as major broadcasters go, I'm an ITV guy.
👍😊😮
So like freevee?
Not anywhere as good as the American version as their is no live channels and not alot of content
Though watching live woukd mean licence needed, but I course we can just ignore the live broadcasts, like we can I RUclips or itvx etc or just watch illegally lol
Got it on my firestick. No way they compete atm as most of the content is cheaply made crap. Sure they have a few big films to entice people but it is rubbish for the rest.
A lot like Netflix then.
Do you think that with a VPN do you think that avrotros will be available in the UK
I wasn’t aware the Netherlands was in the UK‽
@@DrWhoFanJ
I mean the Netherlands broadcasting channel
@@yui4779 I know you do. I’m not an idiot. My point is that the Netherlands and the UK are not the same country, so there is no legal method to access one country’s TV from another.

Amazon has a free service and most of these are on it these are the standard on these things nothing I would watch The worst witch is one of the three things.
"I just want the facts so I stick with the BBC" lol
Not perfect but still the most trusted news source and head and shoulders above the alternatives. I suppose to the far right it might look a little careful and it is not over-generous to the left, with far too many ex Tory employees but it is more closely scrutinised than the alternatives.
you said the one name i will not subscribe to..........MURDOCH ! don't care if it's free
All I'm going to say is yes and no
Tubi is no threat whatsoever, it has awful content, even Plex has better stuff than Tubi
