      Listen.. bro we’re in a whole different category of lyricism nowadays but this song solidified Cole as a GOAT to me. He really used the criticism from Nas and came out the mud cleaner than Febreeeeeeze fam. Both of these gods (iykyk) gave respect and paid homage to themselves respectively and to HipHop. This is why I fw Cole. He ain’t just some consciousness holding backpack rapper, he’s a student of lyricism. And Nas has always been that. This is a complete cipher. Respect is an understatement

    He’s talking about Nas not liking, ‘Work Out for me’ J. Cole’s first main single. He sacrificed his art for radio value. That’s what the whole song is about. J.Cole felt an arrray of emotions after hearing Nas saying he hates that shit, said he the one yo why he make that shit?? Crazy

  • @NWA_Awol

    Listen.. the way this whole thing happened was insane. The fact that Cole took months to respond to what he heard, insane. The fact that he came at it THIS WAY?.. legendary. The way Nas came back and gave props to Cole bc he made this?… maaaaan how Df can HipHop be dead with things like this happening?

    And for ur info. Cole let Nas down cause of the single "Work Out" which is a pretty primitive track, specially for Cole standards, just to sell records cause its easy and dumbed down like 99% of the Mainstream shit. Nas, unlike Jay-Z, is pretty anti-mainstream and drops singles that are artistically and personally important and not there to just get a dollar. Its about musical integrity and that Cole single wasnt that...

    • @NWA_Awol
      @NWA_Awol Год назад

      Facts Nas didn’t feel WorkOut bc he thought Cole was the one to change the wave. When Cole heard that he took a while making this. Respect for that. Instead of taking a shot, he took the criticism. And Nas came right back with nun but respect. This entire situation (not the song) was meant to happen.

    I think when ppl say j cole isn’t on Nas level you’re missing the point. It’s not that lyrically j cole isn’t close to Nas level.. but as far as catalog there is no comparison bro. Nas catalog is far greater than Cole’s that’s what ppl mean when they say cole isn’t on his level. When it comes to catalog Cole isn’t on Nas level & that’s jus the truth. Even Cole would probably say that.

  • @TopBillinVillain
    @TopBillinVillain Год назад +1

    I think the disconnect was most people were connecting Kendrick more with Nas and not Cole. Which I can see but if you know the parallels you can see moreso how the Nas and Cole comparisons can fit. Even though I will still say Kendrick is the Nas of his generation, Drake is the Jay and Cole is harder to place. Cause the old companion or line was whos the best Emcee. Jigga, Biggie or Nas.

  • @TopBillinVillain
    @TopBillinVillain Год назад

    Crazy though. Coles career has closer parallels to Nas but Kendricks music is probably is closer. That's probably the disconnect.

    J Cole is from Fayetteville. Nas even mentions it in the Let Nas Down Remix. J Cole is an amazing lyricist and imo is in the same class as Nas. Nas is better to me but its not a big difference. Guys like Kendrick and Cole are in that top class of lyricism. Freddie Gibbs, Pusha T, Ab Soul, Russ, Benny, Ransom, Rome Streetz, Conway, etc.... great lyricists. They pay homage to mc's like Jay-Z, Black Thought, Kool G Rap, Common, Royce, etc....

    You need a different capture card or something. It's nauseating watching your reaction while it's glitching the f out in 3 fps. It's at the point where you might as well just release the audio of your video and not the visuals, anytime you move it's like I'm seeing my old Gameboys fps.

      Lowkey Cole went ham in his second verse. He really explained a lot of his struggle and tryna come up. But when Nas came in he laid it to rest. It’s hard to come after a mf that’s really hitting in a sense where a message is felt and Nas never had a problem with wrapping up some shyt..
