  • The Otahuhu-based Falepipi he Mafola Group has been awarded the Pacific Heritage Art Award by Creative New Zealand in recognition of its active community engagement with promotion of Niuean heritage arts. The group was formed 16 years ago to develop, maintain and promote the Niuean handcraft skills in weaving, plaiting, netting, carving and most importantly language. The group's vision is to use art to rebuild, restore, and reunite Niuean families living in New Zealand.

    fakaalofa lahi ATU Kia Niue I'm Samoan and quater niueun I love this song even thou I don't know what it means but I love this song my dad is good at speaking both Samoan and niueun I miss him dearly I remember back in nz everytime we have a wedding 21st or hair cut ceremony my dad's the one speaks niueun and my grandma grandpa aunty sorry to my aunty who wanted to teach me when I was 4 now I regret it now my dad's passed away I wanna take over him and speak niueun I speak fluent Samoan and I wanna learn my niueun side
