    Mahomes is the ultimate hindsight QB for the media. At every stage they’ve criticized him or doubted him to immediately flip after proven wrong. It started from the immediate dumping for ever picking him, then to transitioning to him, then he can’t keep playing great now that there’s film, he doesn’t care about winning when he signed his contract, he’s been figured out in 2021, he can’t keep it up without Tyreek, and asking if he can win on the road. Some of the doubts were valid (draft, quick transition, and the contract) but the others weren’t if they ever thought he was the MJ of his era. It’d be nice if they’d own the initial doubts once in awhile and that be proved them wrong instead of constantly pretending that they haven’t thrown a doubt or hedged their bets ar every possible stage before singing praise once he proves it wrong while they pretend they knew all along that he’d do it.

    I can't say it enough. Football is offense, defense, special teams and coaching decisions. All of which can have an direct impact on winning or losing despite what your QB does or doesn't do on the field. Did Brock Purdy play well enough to win the Superbowl? Probably. But what ultimately cost San Francisco the Superbowl? Poor coaching decisions. While Andy Reid made smart coaching decisions plus Pat Mahomes made all the plays he needed to make when it counted most.

    • @parawill7074
      @parawill7074 7 месяцев назад

      I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree about the reason they lost. The 49ers lost the game due to special teams because their plays directly impacted the scoreboard. The live ball recovery on the punt late in the 3rd qtr enabled an anemic Chiefs offense to go into the 4th qtr with a 13-10 lead after a quick TD pass after the turnover. The 49ers would have had the ball with a 10-6 lead going into the 4th, but found themselves down. They then quickly scored a TD themselves to take a 17-13....oh wait! That's right, the Chiefs blocked the EP which kept them within 3 pts at 16-13.
      Those two plays allowed the Chiefs to only need FGs and not TDs in the 4th to stay alive and not be pressured to score 7. The OT decision to take the ball was 100% the right decision by Kyle because his offense was moving the ball on the Chiefs late and his defense was just out there when the Chiefs tied the game. People overlook the fact that his team got down to the 8 yd line and a blown O-line assignment led to Jones pressuring Purdy where he missed the throw to Jennings (which would have likely been a TD). Both teams made mistakes and both coaches made decisions that some people wouldn't like. However, it was the Chiefs special teams that truly decided the game.

    • @parawill7074
      @parawill7074 7 месяцев назад

      And no, Purdy did not play well enough to win. If he had, the 49ers would have won the game. The Chiefs defense is legit and has been all year, including in the playoffs, so it was a tough task in front of the 49ers offense. Brock played well enough to not cost them the game, but he didn't make any plays that impacted the game like he has before. The one opportunity in OT was his moment and he failed. Yeah, Jones was unblocked, but Purdy got the ball out and overthrew Jennings. He didn't handle the pressure and put the ball where it needed to be, and we don't have to make excuses for him because he isn't "Mr. Irrelevant" anymore.
      He is THE GUY at SF and people are taking assessments of him way left. He is a good QB, but not great. The weapons around him and the scheme allow him to lean on his strengths without having to do too much, and there is nothing wrong with that. He will only get better.

      @keithgupton9349 7 месяцев назад

      @@parawill7074 we can agree to disagree. Prudy played well enough to give San Francisco the lead. But again football is a team sport. Despite what everyone thinks. Your QB doesn't always have to put put up great numbers for your team to win. Your defense, special teams and coaching decisions can help your QB as well. So if your HC didn't know that the overtime rules changed. Do you think that coaching blunder helped or hurt Brock Purdy? I personally believe we've become to accustomed to always blaming or giving the QB all of the credit. That we overlook the game within the game.

    Looking at the comments it seems like Brou is taking a lot of heat but I don't think he's ever wavered from his thoughts. He's never said anyone is better than Mahomes but there are a lot of guys that go into winning a football game and most people were picking the 9ers. Chiefs were underdogs the last three games and the Vegas odds makers aren't stupid. The line didn't change much which means most people were betting 9ers. It's okay to believe Mahomes is the best and still think they're gonna lose but no doubt it's gonna get harder and harder to bet against him. Will be interesting to see what he says next season.

    Yes, and even as you look thriught three damn comments... the audacious omission of not mentioning Adam Vinateri and him being one of the best Kickers of all time, if not the best.. I lived through it, they spoke facts on what it was then, because before he won again for the fourth time and lost to Eli twice, the talk was about Manning, Brees and Rodgers when he won his first so quick.. but TBR Kurt Warner is the GOAT QB, end of story..

    Hey Rob Parker, I'm old and seen a LOT of football too!!! And my eyes tell me NO ONE in NFL history (including old AFL) has played this game or been successful in FIRST 6 YEARS PLAYING like PM II. NO ONE!!!! Now, give the 28 year old his rightful props. Wait 10-15 years (barring any unseen injuries) and see if he gets the hardware needed for the GOAT talk. NONETHELESS, regardless whether he gets more rings or not, PM II is THE GREATEST I HAVE EVER SEEN to play QB in my 60 years of watching professional football. Period. Full stop.

    All I know is that somebody needs to step up to the plate. I think Patrick Mahomes is absolutely phenomenal without question. He has proven himself time after time. That being said the rest of the league should be embarrassed. The top teams or what is perceived as either look completely unprepared going against The Chiefs or they beat themselves. With a player like Mahomes you cannot allow him any opportunity to beat you. The fact that Brady was only 1 of 2 guys to beat this team and he was at the tail end of his career tells you all you need to know about the current competition landscape. Whether its coaching or the moment is too big for some players you gotta step up. If they dont then Mahomes will continue to overwhelm the rest of the league.

      Exactly right. The punt "fumble" unequivocally, 100% lost San Francisco the game. Idk why more people won't say so. Players make mistakes, but that type of asinine mistake is unacceptable. That stuff will guarantee you a loss in abjg, close game. Mahomes was great at then end, but what's his name from the punt let his team down and blew it for everyone.

    OK Rob, keep cherry-picking Pat's stats that support your asinine hot takes - 7 TD's and 5 INTs in the Super bowls! Yeah, that 7th TD makes him *4th all-time* surpassing Kurt Werner and Steve Young in just his 6th year as a starter - his 41 playoff TD passes makes him the youngest to ever do it and *6th* all-time in his *6th* year as a starter. Every time he steps on the field, he ruins the records of those old farts that you so desperately cling to - leave the role of contrarian to Skip Bayless - at least he's good at it.

    Once again Chris and Rob are having REVISIONIST HISTORY when it comes to Brady! Let me set the record straight, this MYTH that the defense carried Brady for the first 3 Super Bowls is comical! The defense carried Brady in the first SuperBowl because of SPYGATE! They CONVIENTLY leave that out! The 2nd Super Bowl against the Panthers Brady threw for over 300yrds and 3tds! But that's the definition of the defense carrying Brady!😂 In the 2004 AFC Championship game against the Steelers #1 ranked defense, Brady put up 42pts! While the defense gave up 31pts! Again, thats the definition of the defense carrying Brady!😂 People are DESPERATE for the change of the guard!😂
