I think since Devon was so hand dominant, Evgeny pressed the base of his palm into Devon's wrist while not caring about his own hand position. This allowed him to get some friction to access his chest and bicep strength that might be superior to Devon's. Now that I think about it, I think it's actually very similar to what Ermes did to Levan.

What a fool he would be if he signed up for a match while was in poor shape for prudnik
Prudnik is a very strong dude.
I don't believe one bit Devon didn't train for him, he easily could've done plenty of training before Prudnik despite the shortcomings. His endurance is pretty trash but his efficiency and effectiveness on the table is what gives devon advantage but Prudnik simply had a bit technique to match devon for a bit.

Devon taught Prudnik that kick-back move when they sparred before the match if I remember correctly, to prevent the hook. The move may have been a bit troubling for Devon, but I think Devon was gassing out by that point in the match since he had to cut weight to make this match happen on short notice.

  • @lunak72

As Ryan Bowen said during the match, prudnyk is denying Devon the hook by kicking his wrist back. He lost the first 2 rounds in a hook, so it made sense for prudnyk. So yes, he made it hard for Devon. Devon also said afterwards, that it was actually a lot closer than most people thought
That being said, Devon was no where near his best shape here. He got his first stem cell treatment 2 weeks before this, and only did bloodflow stuff. Even before his Genadi match he stille couldn’t train strength, bc his biceps was not healed after the Levan match

What happened is Devon doesnt have a lot of side pressure and Prudnik has a strong af bicep. He made the round hard of devon. Devon couldn't finish. But devon was in complete control with the hand control. He was happy at the end as he just won a world title. There was no way of winning this for prudnik without his hand unless he flop wrist pressed

  • @andyg4929

Low key this was Devon’s most dominant victory. With Ermes Devon exposed his weakness flawlessly and didn’t let Ermes get access to his lane.
But this match Devon met Prudnik center table and made it about arm on arm(after tiring him out with his kings move first). After what Prudnik did to Morozov and Hutchings, this was Devon’s most impressive win IMO.
