That doesn't happen too often. It was a nice pocket. Thanks for watching.
Jackpot!!! Best haul I’ve seen you two get.
We have done better before but not when we were filming. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Great video guys!
I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to prospect up in Maine as it’s a bit far from me and I tend to stay in my area of central Vermont, but I have a work trip coming up in a couple weeks and I have a full days drive on the way back to myself. So I was checking out some prospecting videos based on Maine.
Are you in the vicinity of the Coos Canyon rest area? I’m obviously not asking you to give up your exact location. Just wondering if you’re in that vicinity. I’ve only got about four hours to prospect and I’m just trying to increase my chances to catch some color. 🙏🤝
I’ll definitely be stopping in the gem shop picking up some paydirt and checking out some of those huge nuggets!!
Anywhere in that area. If you stop at the gem shop they will point you to several locations. They are very helpful. We will be up there in a few weeks
@@hipbeeexplorer thanks so much for the tips! I’ll definitely stop in the shop. I saw your other video and really want to have a look at the Maine gems and nuggets!! I’ll be making the stop in Byron on my way back from Showhegan on Saturday July 27, maybe I’ll catch you and say hi!👋
That's a very vibey shirt Tom. Keep up the great shows guys.
Thanks for watching and good luck.
Great Episode and great gold!
Thank you my friend. Bee Groovy.
Great video guy's that was definitely a great first bucket I'm glad you like the sluice box I tried making it so it could be a really fast cleanout it looked like Wes had the sluice ready to go again in under a minute
I love it. It’s my new go to sluice
Hi Brian,
Do you make sluces and if so are you in Maine/NH?
@@TNRnhFerals I do make them I'm in Maine
New England cottontails are making a big comeback!
He hung around for a couple hours. Thank you for watching
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉😮
Thanks for watching
Sorry I missed it watching it now
Groovy man
love the shirt Tom i want one
It’s cheesy and groovy
So glad we can still sluice in Maine
I agree. One of the reason I love to go there....and lots of land owned by logging and they allow panning on most rivers...except a few.
This is gonna be a great vid!
Groovy
Awesome gold. Awesome video! 👍Did you want to suck the gold up with the scissors at 6:10? 😃
I tried...
@@hipbeeexplorer 😅
It must have been so great to be able to use a shovel and a sluice for a change great video. You two are really working it!!
Thank you. I fell on Monday and bruised both my knees… video coming
Gosh I hope you are OK!!? I fell a few times before I had to have both knees replaced. I feel your pain!! I will have to go up and see if I can find some better gold then tunnel brook.
Oh and great bunny shots. Made the whole video. Rabbit video bombed.
They're re- sluicing the old gold.
There's no Way they're picking up the kinda gold we're there panning.
Wow, you guys killed it on that first half bucket!
Yeah, I was shocked. Most I've ever seen in one bucket but then it petered out. Thanks for watching. Bee groovy.
Nice results bees! Way to go
Thank you and thank you for watching
Another Great video
Thank you for watching. Bee groovy
Wes, you didn't show us the Gold dance that found that good. Tom, I loved the Cheeto's shirt. Nothing wrong with that dinner. Looked awefully good to me.
That’s because it was x rated… but it worked.
@@hipbeeexplorer LOL
Holy smokes that's an awesome pan!
It was a doozy
Where's all the GOLD?!! I live in Maine and have never seen any in the 42 years of my life. I wanna find a ship full of gold and rare gems like they found in "The Goonies."
You'll have to go to Hollywood for that. In Maine, if you start looking now in the right place you may find a nugget right away....or it could take you 10 years...or never....It all depends on knowing where to look. I suggest starting in the brooks and streams around Byron Maine and Rangely Maine. Swift river, Sandy River, south bog stream, or any other stream or river in the area.
Get yourself a back hoe down to any river and start digging up the lowest part of the river. Dump it into a huge sifter.
Cheers from Kennebunk!!
Howdy! Thanks for watching and commenting. Bee groovy.
picker looked like Dino the Dinosaur
Where is the Flintstone shirt when ya need it.
did anyone notice the bot flies on the flowers? those things are nasty! great video, thanks guys
Yeah, we saw them. Thank you for watching and commenting. Bee groovy
I've been hunting on the Swift closer to Mexico recently.. I only have a cheap metal detector and homemade gold pan.. I'm poor as hell 😆. It's still fun though but I never find anything. Glad to see you got gold out of the swift tho cause that means its in there waiting to be found!
Try further north. The nuggets get dropped out in the pools so there is mostly fine gold down near Mexico. You can also focus on bedrock and cracks in the bedrock. Check them with a metal detector. Thanks for watching.
@@hipbeeexplorer thanks for the advice! I will do that.
Great show
Thanks for watching.

You rock!
Nice video guys 👍
Thank you for watching and commenting. Peace ☮️
Ain't that wicked good.
Right on!
Any suggestions on creeks around the Waterville/Kennebec area? By the way, love your name. My hubs & family call me Doobie because I was a huge fan of the Do-Bee Bee on Romper Room 100 years ago. Plus my sisters were teenagers (I was a late accident🥴) & they thought they were being cute. But to this day my husband of 28yrs calls me Doobie. New sub too!
Thanks for watching Doobie. Look up Bond Brook in Augusta. There is gold in it.
@@hipbeeexplorer Thanks so very much!
Not sure if I look forward to the gold or to see what's for supper now.
Lol. Both. Well, sometime we don’t find much gold and other times dinner doesn’t come out so good.
Awesome first pan Guy's, nice job. I'm looking to book a site at Coos canyon campground during Labor day to do some prospecting. Wes, could you please tell me what was the name of the road you where parked on. Nice new addition to you and Tom's group having the Hip Bee, he's quite a corrector.
It's Weld Rd. Right across the street from the rock and gem shop at Coos Canyon.
Well done guys 🇦🇺👍🏽
Thank you and thank you for watching.
Im a little late tonight lol. Hi everyone
Thank you for watching and commenting
I believe this is when canada was ablaze i live in maine it was hazy
Yes, That has happened a couple times from the fires in CA over the past few years.
Wished I could be camping yea my car tore up an now still here Ky no gold here
Thank you for watching and commenting. Bee groovy. The gold wizard I’ll wait for you
I just moved to Maine and i have a stream that runs thru my property, u wanna come see if i have gold in it
Send me an e-mail to wesperron@aol.com. Let me know where and we'll see if we can work something out...Of course if we find any gold we will let you keep it as long as we can film.
I would be curious how much you can earn gold panning on an average per hour basis. As I understand it a person just can't earn as much as a minimum wage job on average most of the time so if I can't have fun doing this as a pastime, it's probably not for me. I would also be curious if you get a better yield at places with Gold in their name. Such as the Gold Brook next to Gold Brook Road on the Canadian border near the Kibby wind farm.
Most prospector don’t do it for the money. There are much easier ways to make money. If it’s called gold brook there may be a reason but keep in mind there are hundreds of gold brooks.
Wes pans while Tom fans! Cheeto groovy!
Thanks for watching. Stay groovy.
Want to bring my 10 yr old son and 6 yr old daughter in a 71 winnie 24'. I live in Rockland could you give me any insight as to where is some close to the river camping?
Coos Canyon Campground.
Did you say Brian currier gave you the sluice I know a Brian currier from loudon n.h.
Brian Quirion made that sluice.
Where is smoke coming from? Surly it wouldn't be that thick way over here from the West fires?
Yup, from the wild fires out west
There's no way... Don't wear out that gold, panning it over and over again....
Keep diggin. You'll find it.
No gold!
How do you know? I know for a fact there is because I was there...were you?
Did you guys run into any ticks?
Not very often. Once last year.
Hey your sluice isn't compleat no riffles
Yes it is. This is a mat with the ruffles built in. As you can see it works really good catching the fine gold. Since then I have switched to a dream mat which also has no riffles and it was outstanding in tests. Watch the video where I test the dream mat
Then that must extremely new never have I seen a mat that had riffles interesting 🤔
I think you guys are losing gold in that sluice box.. I think a sluice box should only be used if your finding massive amounts....
I don't think I would have gotten that much gold by just panning. It's all about how much you run and a pan is to slow. I use a dream mat now and I've tested it to see how well it catches gold. I ran a bucket of dirt with 5g of gold in it and caught all but a few small flakes. Here is a link to that video. ruclips.net/video/0dtMYqK_25c/видео.html I think most people lose a bit panning too. To me it's all about how much material I run and a sluice box allows me to run more material. Thanks for watching my friend.
@@hipbeeexplorer Gotchya. I’ll check it out.
The proper pronunciation is KOH-ahss, not Cooz.
Yes, That is correct. We had a discussion about this in the past. The original word is a native American word meaning "Pine trees" which are prevalent near the canyon but most people don't use that pronunciation anymore. Many people including those who live there and Rosey at the Gift shop and The Owners of the Coos Canyon Campground all pronounce it Cooz...so to avoid confusion we do as well. If we pronounced it kOh-ahss many people would not know where we are talking about so we go with the most prevalent pronunciation. Like many word's Pronunciations they get changed over time. Thanks for watching.
You cannot dig on the banks of the Swift River, or any river, in the White Mountains it is, against the Law, just ask them in the store. I wish I could.
True, but there is no federal law.
And we are not digging in a bank. Banks are defined clearly.
The landowner can dig with a shovel anywhere on his property and give permission to anyone they choose without any federal permits. On the swift we have permission from the land owners to prospect and the prospectors agree not to dig in the banks.
I can't watch your video with your hideous music playing
Thanks for watching and commenting. it really helps our channel. Bee groovy
I would have commented on one of your videos but I notice you don't have any and you are not a video creator at all....but thanks for your opinion anyway.
Then skip over the beginning. I do because i can only hear the same song so many times. Nothing against wes and tom as i do enjoy the videos...but thats the good thing about youtube, if you dont want to watch something you skip over it or find a new video...you lack some tact sir
Another awesome video
Thanks for watching the oldies but goodies.
