  • Ever wonder how on earth Ukrainian Easter eggs are made? If so, stick around for this video as I’ve created this beginner’s guide to creating beautiful Ukrainian Pysanky. I learned this ancient folk art as a child and over the years, I’ve made dozens and dozens of Pysanky. I’ll first take you through some of my collection and share with you a brief overview of the art and the meaning behind some of the traditional symbols. I’ll also share the items you’ll need to get started with links below if you’re interested in giving it a try. I close with a DIY tutorial for beginners on how to create a Ukrainian Pysanky.

    I'm a 76 year old dude and have never tried to do this art of Pysanky egg-decorating but tomorrow will be my first time to join a group to learn the art of decorating. I'm very excited and I have committed myself to perform well and enjoy the magic Pysanky egg decorating brings.
    Thank you for the Tutorial. You're an awesome instructor.

    I use silk ties to transfer some fancy patterns to eggs each year. A friend recommended I check out your video and try this technique. Fascinating artwork. Not sure I can draw well enough to do it, but maybe. I am a math oriented person, and there is a lot of symmetry here. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations.

I also just bought an electric kistka and I'm having much better success with that. No more wax clumps and it writes so even! Thank you for posting, I really enjoyed watching! When marking the initial lines in the egg with pencil, I've found it easier to use a rubber band. You can position the band anywhere and at any angle, the rubber makes it grip.
    Use a band that's somewhat wide, make sure it's lying flat and trace along the edge with your pencil. No jagged lines.

      How do u do that without crushing the egg? How do you get the egg white and yolk out of the shell

    • @donmiller2908
      @donmiller2908 2 года назад

      @@lindabaker1776 How do you place a rubber band on the egg so that it doesn't crush the shell?
      Easy, you just place the band on the egg. Eggs are surprisingly tough. hold an egg in the palm of your hand, over a sink, wrap your fingers around it and squeeze. You can squeeze as hard as you want and the egg will not break. The shape of the egg distributes the force equally.
      The only way I know of to remove the yolk and white is to make a small hole on both ends and blow it out.
      I believe they make little devices that will suck it out for you, that way you'll only need one hole. Any good Pysanky website will have tools for sale that will remove the interior.

    I have a dozen eggs that I kept in the back of my refrigerator (forgotten) for about 3 years. They were completely dried on the inside when I took them out. they are about 12 years old now. I have them up in my art room on a top shelf. I really should do some art Pysanki on them.
