Kurt “Gutze” Gauschi had started as a guitarist in punk band Fresh Color alongside a young Dieter Meier (later of Yello), changing the name to Frische Farbe in 1982 to ride the Neue Deutsche Welle wave. Gutz’ side project alongside bassist Steno Onetz, El Deux, explored electronic, experimental directions and ‘Gletscher’ (meaning ‘Glacier’) has endured as a cult classic. “I always wished that there could be more space for the wonderful opening synth melody,” says Aslan, “so this edit starts more gradually and is easier for DJs to use.”
