  • For the first time since their inception in 2002, the Houston Texans will be wearing new uniforms during the 2024 season. Are they the best uniforms ever? Nope. Are they the worst uniforms ever? Nope.

This comment section is wild. He never said he didn't understand why they put H-Town, just that he didn't agree with the creative decision to do so. He even made the Falcons reference to showcase that. He has a good viewpoint, it is sorta tacky to use a slang name for an official uniform, even if it's an alternate.

@BC First of all, the color blue has been in Houston since 1920s and the style or letter since 1836. You're not from Houston, so you don't get what H-Town means. The uniform is for the people of Houston, not for outsiders like you. As far as the Oilers, they started in Houston, 1960-1996. Played in Tennessee for 2 years as the Oilers. You should learn about a city first before you make assumptions. That blue is H-Town blue. Whether you like us calling our city H-TOWN doesn't matter. And by the way, Houston Oilers were in the AFL before the NFL existed. Tennessee only became an NFL city in 1996 when the Oilers relocated their. So, people in Tennessee need to stop acting like they've been around as long as Houston has. You're the step city, not the born city where the Oilers were created.

I wish the nfl would allow the texans just go full h town blue. Its bs that the titans “own” the rights to those jerseys. I like the new texans uniforms but lets be real, navy blue is so played out. So many pro teams have navy blue

Thanks for the history lesson, but I’m well versed in the history of the Oilers and Texans. I simply just didn’t care for the abbreviation of the town on the chest, nothing more, nothing less. I’m glad everyone from Houston seems to like it. Take care!

Also the jerseys have been saying “houston” or “texans” for years, one jersey saying “H-town” is an issue? This whole video was weird😂

Thank God they didn't go with the horns on the sides of the helmet that fans were drawing mocks of. They were incredibly horrendous. Google them and prepare to be shocked about thinking how anyone on God's green earth could think they were anything other than a nightmare brought to life.
They literally were so damn bad that I knew it would be next to impossible to make bull type horns look good.
But I'll be damned. They actually pulled it off. Those alternate red helmets genuinely look great.

Don’t forget your history. That blue will always scream Oilers/Titans. And don’t cry about the Oilers being in Tennessee, you said to the Team and Bud Adams in the mid 90s “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out! We don’t want you.” Don’t gloss over that. Those are the facts. The Oilers are Adams team, not Houston or Tennessee. Kraft owns the Patriots, not Boston. This is not the Green Bay Packers.

    • @donna7059
      @donna7059 11 дней назад

@@KickItToTheKing Don't want the Oilers unis for the Texans. Or the oil derrick logo. We want our city colors. Bud Adams used the city colors for the Oilers just as he did the name and oil derrick. All of that represented Houston and the legacy of Houston. Bud Adams was a shitty owner for decades before he left. When he did, he said Houston will never have anything of the Oilers and his daughter has held to that mandate with the same tenacity of her father. We can't even honor the Houston Oilers players we loved so much (and can still name many) in NRG, but they are in our Houston Sports Hall of Fame. Yep, the Adams family owns the rights. And yep they tried to troll Houston by cosplaying the Houston Oilers right down to having their head coach pose as Houston's beloved Bum Phillips when the Houston Texans came to town in 2023. That didn't work out so well for them. We are using our city color in our team's uniforms - city connect if you will. They are nothing like the Oilers or the Titans except for that one color. I see so many Titans fans upset by this. Cry babies. Move on.

To everyone who shares the video creator’s viewpoint on the abbreviations on the uniforms please allow me to share with you another viewpoint , with no ill will or judgement. In the black community we often nickname a lot of people, places , and things. We often refer to the city of Houston as H-Town, Atlanta as “The ATL ” California as Cali, and Chicago as “The Chi”. When you see these abbreviations on NFL uniforms, it is an acknowledgement of that part of their fan base, as well as leaning into how the black community and our culture is very much influencing overall pop culture. That’s it, that’s all I got. No deeper than that

They wanted the city to connect with the uniform since they really looked like the state flag up until this point. That is one of the reasons they put H Town because that is our nickname. People outside of Houston, like the narrator of this video, might not get it. And that's the Point! It is for Houstonians. We get it.

The regulars are alright, the bull horn thing on the shoulders is cool and I wish the blue jerseys had them too. But the H-Town uniforms are terrible, they look like something FUBU would make for some mid-90s banger to wear with a pair of oversized gym shorts that go down to his ankles.

I like 'em accept for that red helmet.
It looks like a giant red gum ball with a very very faint blue symbol that's supposed to be a horn...I guess.
I think the Minnesota Vikings have a much, much better grasp regarding a horn logo on a helmet.
That red helmet completely sucks. But the rest of what I've seen is not bad at all.

If you did a little bit a research into the reasoning behind these fan inspired jerseys then your questions about the jerseys would all be answered but we can all see the lack of effort put into this video.

I actually like that they made two alternates, not just one. Give the team more options down the road.
That being said, one thing I don't like about the recent uniforms from the Jets, Broncos, and Texans is how small their sleeves are. I don't know if that just me, but I feel like the sleeves are too small. I don't want them too long either through.

Two things to note: the dark blue and red on the Texans uniforms and (some) other official merch has changed.
The blue is no longer a navy blue but more of a midnight blue. Almost black, like the blue of the NY Yankees' uniforms. It's the color the Texans originally wanted for their uniforms, and indeed was what they officially debuted before ever being able to play a game, but limitations of uniform manufacturing meant they had to settle for a standard navy blue. But Nike has the new darker blue available now, and the Texans are the only NFL team (so far) using it.
The change to the red is more subtle. It's a slightly brighter, more vivid red. Apparently it's the exact same color used by Ohio State, which I'm sure CJ Stroud is happy about.
The official team names for the colors haven't changed though, so it's still "deep steel blue" and "battle red" to go with the "liberty white" and the new "H-town blue".
