@@PatrickStirling well i guess they changed something ion resolve 17. when i get to the 2nd tranform part to matte control of the text its showing a black rectangle i cant figure out how to remove. but its a great video man. EDIT:!!! Nevermiond. I was just clumsy and stupid :D eorks perfectly fine :D
waver is just so different now. just updated davinci? is it outdated this video or u think its bugged? its like shining sunrays when i use the waver background now lol...
@@PatrickStirling I'm not sure maybe using it for basic stuff like webcam borders, backgrounds, or etc. I think just a video on how to use and make the gradient effect on davinci would help a lot
The count down timer does not do much for me to be honest, but the way you work and explain fusion is just amazing. your workflow can be used for so much more... Great work, and really good tutorial work my friend. Can't wait to see what more you have in store for us. Cheers from Norway
Just a little question toward your spline work. Why do you flat it and dont smoth it? I see everyone else are using the S... to smooth the curve. But by the look of it, it does the same thing? or am i tripping out here 🤣
I'm happy you found some value in the video. It's definitely my goal to have something valuable for people to learn in every tutorial even if they don't need the specific effect being built. As far as f vs. s to flatten or smooth, you won't see the difference if you only select one or two keyframes, but if you select three or more you'll see what the smooth function does. They're both useful and it's largely a matter of deciding how you really want your motion to look. Thanks so much for the encouragement, happy to have you around! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@PatrickStirling You do a really good job with your videos. Keep it up, and thank you for explaining the S vs F... will take a closer look at the difference in my next project. Have a great one and keep it up 🔥
Great tutorial! I was able to somewhat easily follow along because I had already worked a bit with fusion by doing their fusion workshops they have in their youtube channel. For someone who is brand new this can be quite daunting. A few suggestions on how I think your future tutorials could be a bit more manageable for newer users. Rename the nodes, so when there's a bunch, in special multiple instances of the same node type (like all those transform nodes) it is clearer what each one does when pausing the video. Also, it'd be good if you snapped the nodes to the grid, so the flow is a bit easier to follow as well. Great work as always!
Probably something along the lines of "Now Playing [Insert game here]". Would be easier to have it update the text node live, rather than rendering it every time a play a different game
@@theunamedgamer8139 anything coming out of Resolve would have to be rendered. maybe there would be some way to leave a text field blank in the export and work with an external tool to bring dynamic text back in but that would need some perfectly timed masking. I think my recommendation would be to build out some other tool you could dynamically update on the fly that just sits somewhere else on your screen
A lot of complaints about render speed. Try making a 5 second fusion composition and putting the waver and black background in it (also remove it from the original), render it in place on the edit page, and copy and paste it a few times. Play with the lenghts of the first few until they seem to flow together fairly well, possibly drop in smooth cuts between them. If you start with just three you can probably work it so the middle one is perfect to loop. Copy and paste that one throughout, possibly drop in some smooth cuts throughout just in case. Might be fine to render at this point. Resolve complained at first when I did this (think I also had an issue with the countdown at first), so I made the waver clips into a compound clip, rendered in place again, then render out the whole thing. Even with just trying to sort all of this out, didn't take that long to do on my laptop with a RTX 3070 TI. Meanwhile my PC with its RTX 3090 took 45 minutes to render the original.
was it working correctly for transform 3? I ran into that when I had the rectangle mask going into the blue mask input of transform 3 and not the normal yellow input
@@PatrickStirling transform 3 - matte 1 was completely fine but then i add transform 4 and connect it to matte 2 the black thing appears is there any discord server where i can send a clip to you?

Loved this thank you! Made on for my stream!
dude, you're awesome
Had quite a headache with this one since I'm new to Davinci but holy was this a great tutorial!! Love the content man
Thanks so much! this video might have been a little more in-depth than it needed to be, but I also wanted the final product to look cool 😅
