Great interview! RSA needs to look outside of only Tertiary/University education as the only way in which to change young peoples lives or uplift people from poverty. The creation and establishment of schools and systems that garner a learning secondary skills and/or trade skills - is in my opinion something that we do not champion enough. Not everyone can go to University or achieve the standard required to get into university. But having said that, everyone can learn a skill and should have the opportunity to change their circumstance.
Best interview I have Listened to in a very long time. Two African men, from two different eras talking about their experiences in business. Wow! I can only be humble and learn from them. I like the fact that Ntate Maponya shared his secret to his success: simply put it's respect for all, regardless of class...
Agreed. I think it's because the channel only has 46k subscribers. We should start sharing these kinds of channels with our friends and families on Whatsapp. If every current subscriber could get one person to subscribe the 46k would double in a day.
Isn't amazing how eloquent Tata Maponya is at his age! He is indeed a walking brain box.Am inspired, thanks sir for this channel. One day, just one day; I will be sitting on that chair telling my story and how videos like this helped me.Not that it matters to you,but i would like to mention that you happen to be one of my online mentors.Thank you for not only motivate me when am hopeless but also slowly destroy the poor mentality I used to hv.
A beautiful and moving interview Mr Thembekwayo. It is amazing to see the tribute you paid this giant and the blessings he bestowed upon you before he passed. A rare and very beautiful thing
Telling our own success stories - profound! I love the principle of respect for one and all regardless... the personal touch (call it expectional customer care) him and the wife accorded every individual that came through. Taking notes!
Amazing interview. @Vusi Thembekwayo, you are an amazing presenter. Feel like we need a movie called Richard about the life of Dr Richard Maponya. This story must be archived.
I really enjoyed this interview, thanks for sharing! I really hope that we can find the right leaders to get our country back on track as lately it feels that dark forces are taking advantage of every crisis.
This is great I cant believe that I am only finding out about this interview now.Exceptional information well rounded interview all the questions were on point and relative until this day. Its the mentally that needs to change
Thanks Vusi for walking the talk and telling the story of those who have gone before us, who made it against all odds. I didn't know of Maponya till a day ago when some American was watching a video of Two Rivers Mall in Kenya - my country - and called it the biggest in Africa. It sparked a debate, South Africa in the comments section spoke of Maponya Mall and so I said let look for his story. Funny enough, i'd attempted to watch this video when you posted it but I lost interest real quick because I didn't know him at the time.
Thank you @Vusi Thembekwayo and @MyGrowthFund SA, these are the type of informative dialogues that help some of us aspiring businessman stay our course. Keep up the great work!
@vusi This is truly one of the most inspirational interviews i have in your osmosis series, people like myself are humbled to see such wisdom from Tata Maponya . Just want to Thank you!!!!
Powerful interview. Like your closing remarks about our own stories which are not being shared/told enough. We shouldn't be looking far for inspiration. I really believe skills are the best solution for empowering the youths.
Food for thought and persevering inspiration. I literally listened to every word.. Those are Marching Orders from a soldier of greatness 👏🏾humble thank u's to the then and fuelling the now
I think CODESA played a key role for a seemingly swift entry into the Union Building....how I wish that could be zoomed into much more deeper! because after all if you are to GO-BIG you need equally capable propellers...
Aaron you have to my brother my wife was not aligned but now she is after I forcefuly did some things that ended up to both our benefit, you should now hear her talk hahahahahahaah carbon copy of me lol.on a serious note you need a partner that does not support your ideas but should get a partner that sees your ideas, sky is the limit my autie go get it.
I once read in a manuscript I was editing by author Chris Mureithi and he said that you should ask the person you want to spend your life with what their vision is so that you find out if your visions can align because most couples that got divorced still love each other so love isn't the important question, it is a matter of vision
Could have been even better if Vusi had stopped his habit of sitting legs crossed just as a matter of showing respect to the GREAT MAN he was having a conversation with. RIP BABA.
So convenient for Mr. Maponya to claim ANC activist position. With all due respect. He did not have to claim allegiances to 'that' movement for him to appear as if he was a political activist--for him to have an inspirational story to tell. He has been called by some critics as a conformist who earned his wealth while others were giving their lives for the liberation of ALL. What this position does, in part, is to reduce him to a mere politically connected businessman whose wealth (especially in the post-apartheid SA) is associated with the ANC aligned 'petty' entrepreneurs. He is an inspiration, and he must just be careful not to reduce his importance by claiming allegiancies with the ANC Thank you, Mr. Thembekwayo for this video.
I'm not an ANC person but I see nothing wrong with Maponya's confession of being an ANC activist. In fact his passion, determination and love for people dominates the interview so much that I don't remember him as an ANC activist but as a good wise citizen. I also believe Maponya was a political activist in his own right, in a sense that not everyone had to go to exile or to war to fight, imagine if we had 20 more Maponya's in all provinces, while others go to war/exile they stay behind to build malls, schools etc. I respect your opinion but I think we all decode things differently.
To acknowledge what or who brought you an opportunity for enlightenment and liberation is not wrong ,it only means you are aware of what gave you the drive, for some it maybe that they want to be associated or aligned with it in order to get praise or recognition but to others it is to acknowledge the experience and the teachings that came with it whether the organization still represent their initial vision or it has turned against the initial goal. You cannot turn away the lesson at that particular moment, space or time... It's what you take out of the situation that's important
The way Ntate Maponya speaks of his late wife is so heart-warming.
Great interview! RSA needs to look outside of only Tertiary/University education as the only way in which to change young peoples lives or uplift people from poverty. Not everyone can go to University or achieve the standard required to get into university. But having said that, everyone can learn a skill and should have the opportunity to change their circumstance.
Amen
I strongly agree. Education doesnt only happen in higher institutions!
true
Very interesting interview,I resonate with a lot with his perspective..I will definitely contribute my skills and knowledge to save my country.

One day when i make it in life, i will look back at this video and say thank you to this two brilliant minds from different eras, Glory to God!
80k views? This is a brilliant conversation deserves to have more viewers, more people to be inspired.

Look at people as people not as objects - great business advice
A beautiful and moving interview Mr Thembekwayo. It is amazing to see the tribute you paid this giant and the blessings he bestowed upon you before he passed. A rare and very beautiful thing
''There are people there, there is no doubt, there is a quality of youngsters". Revolutionary

The old man is asking for a dozen!
Lord please count me in 👏💯.
97 Fucking Years Old and he's sounds this sharp?! This is cool to see. Mr Maponya is a G.
Dr Richard Maponya, prophesied on the state of youth, 2022 and youth unemployment sitting at 70 percent nation wide. Brilliant visionary!
He's an icon of our time and a pioneer for entrepreneurs of colour.

this is quite inspiring. We need to tell the stories of our own...and stop looking out there for what is with us.
This is great I cant believe that I am only finding out about this interview now.Exceptional information well rounded interview all the questions were on point and relative until this day. Its the mentally that needs to change
