    I use a router to hog out 90% and hand finish with a chisel. Also glue multible colors of wood into a block, slice in half on the band saw for a nice design. My Masamoto Saya's don't have pins so I never put them on mine. I also round the edges and thin the sides to make it less bulky.

    Good video. I'll bet fishing line would work well for the lanyard since it's less likely to fray or fall apart. It would be harder to tie, though.

    Do you taper the inside of the saya to fit the blade or is it one thickness?

    for the pin use a 1/4 dowel/hardwood tap it and use a die for the pin and hole and screw the dowel in i use ca glue in the hole so the threads won't ream out over time
