I'm currently drying oranges, lemons and apples in the oven to decorate my tree with! and I'm also making my mom some homemade stovetop potpourri for christmas this year. :-) I don't know how I stumbled upon your channel but I'm really glad that I did
I absolutely love this! I often do give my books that I love to friends as gifts. I love sharing and want them to experience the books too. I make gifts often. Candles, cookies, banana bread. Card making is something everyone asks for. No one wants a store bought card from me as they love my cards. I make scrapbooks with poetry and notes about favourite memories. Sometimes I’ll put a favourite photo or drawing or buttons, stickers and stamps I have laying around to turn it into something fun that my friend can enjoy for years to come. They love these gifts and tell me they read them often. In a time where it can get hard and dark, I want to spread some light and help wherever I can. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.

I loved this video Bonnie! A video idea I had while watching was seeing different areas in your house and how you go gently in decorating your house. I noticed that your cabinets are (presumably) the original dark stained wood the house was built with. In this day and age the popular thing is to paint over original wood with a lighter color and I just really appreciate that you’ve left it. It had so much character, or like you were saying about old wrapping- a greater story behind it. Similarly I like how you’ve used the space already there by your fire place for books and things rather than doing a remodel for a more contemporary look. So if you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear the history behind your house or ways you’ve made it home without disrupting the integrity of the original house or remodelling with newer items. I’ve heard of another way of wrapping presents. Basically, you just have to replace wrapping paper for a piece of cloth, and you tie a bow in the middle with the corners of the cloth, and the great thing about it is that you can give it multiple purposes afterwards.

I have a plastic hairbrush from when I was a kid and there’s the impulse to go buy a bamboo brush, now that I know better, BUT, I’ve now used this brush for 16 years and will continue to use it probably forever. So, instead of BUYING NEW, I’m using what I have. And now that I’m older and am more knowledgeable about the planet, my current purchases are more sustainable. remember when the paper bags at trader joe's had poinsettias and gift tags that you could cut out during the holiday season? It was fantastic! I've been wrapping my gifts in saved paper grocery bags ever since i saw this when I was a teenager! It's so cute and it kind of reminds me of the line from the sound of music "brown paper packages all wrapped up in string, these are a few of my favorite things!"
You are so sweet. I thought I was the only person in the world who ever had thought about reusing a book as a gift and objects already used, cause of the story they already carry with then. I use old wrapping paper for years now. After Christmas I fold them up and put them in my box for next year. I think it's a great and easy idea to re-use things. But just watch out: the other day I found three different names on one of my presents 😂
