Brits are a very curious bunch. It's not enough for us to know that something happens, we want to know why & how it happens....Atoms, DNA. We are always asking the question...."How can we do this better & more efficiently". We probably blew ourselves up 50+ times trying to invent something before we got it right. I wonder how many times Michael Faraday electrocuted himself whilst experimenting with electricity. How many boilers exploded whilst inventing the steam engine? Nobody likes having their country invaded & we didn't like it on the numerous occasions it happened to us, but the Romans improved our lives in so many ways & left a positive mark in our history.
Freedom and justice are the two major influences Britain gave to the world. Their British Commonwealth and ex- Commonwealth first world nations have continued on with inventions. While people in the majority of the world are emotionally- centered, the population of the world is moving into becoming mentally -centered, lead by those countries, and creating more inventions.
We still have them. The science and research is still up there when compared to the rest of the world, but due to the socialist sense of entitlement, the high costs of manufacturing and the failures of the education system - the commercial intellect has gone.
What about Newton? Maxwell? Lord Kelvin, Faraday? etc? Humanity would be lost without these dead white guys. I could mention more Frech white guys. Laplace and Fourier are my too favorites . Them there are the Germans,, Leibniz, Gauss, Rutherford and Einstein, Rotherford, Gauss etc.
