This run with your commentary is a great example of how speedrunning is more than just playing through a game quickly, it's deep science and puzzle-solving too.
The only game I can play with remotely close skill is Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together. I can read how the AI will react in pretty much any situation, and know my moves 20 or so turns before I can make them. I'd post runs and such, but it's a SRPG, boring as piss. Also, please not I do NOT dare compare myself to Cosmo. I just said I'm really good at 1 game. xD
42:20 " I feel like its probably the best speedrun I have ever done." Then you got that 18:10 this past Sunday in OOT and destroyed your PB/WR. Gratz Cosmo
This was honestly an incredible speedrun in general, let alone an incredible run of Carrie. Good job, Cosmo. It's such a good feeling getting that amazing time in a run, and only getting it by pulling of risky shit here and there. I liked that you uploaded both the live, and this commentated version as well. I got more out of it this way than seeing the live version. (I don't get a chance to get on twitch much). Good luck with any future runs.
I watched this live last night and it was such a great run, so hype. Rip Carrie because totally killed it cosmo. You're the man. It was really cool to watch you do the post commentary live on this run it really explains well.
That was an incredible speedrun to watch. The tower of sorcery was handled really well, you knew where everything was whether you could see or not. And your commentary was entertaining and interesting! Great job. Dracula almost took as long to die as you took to beat this game XD
When I first saw this 41 minutes highlight on twitch I was like: OMG they found a new trick that saves like 2MINS!!!!1! But no, it was just crisp execution all the way through.... Gratz Cosmo, awesome run!
Thanks for making a commentary, always fun to hear about the little things you have to do and keep in mind, and about what was going through your head when you were doing the run. Great work on the run, all the practice pays off(with some luck thrown your way as well).
I remember struggling on this game as a 9 year old before the days of internet and walk-through guides. Things like the garden maze and castle center w/ the nitro took me days! It's amazing to watch someone do it in minutes and to know all the secrets now.
I really enjoy your commentary and explanation of your movements. I've been very interested in this game lately, I played some of the other Castlevania games and enjoy the overall theme but I feel like a 3D game is what I need right now. I like the look of this game and the levels that the characters go through to fight the boss, also how the levels change depending on your character. A remake of this would be sweet.
At 30:15 I thought it would be hilarious if he accidentally put the game on easy and the game said. "Go back and play it on hard to complete the game," that would have been hilarious.
Really great commentary, its hard to see all the nuances of what you do just to save a few extra frames. gives some good context to how much you really work for this.
Hey CosmoSpeedruns I love watching your AGDQ and SGDQ videos. Here's a little CV64 trivia for you. The mage you fought was originally meant to be Sypha from CV 3: Dracula's Curse and her battle theme is labeled as 'Sypha' on the soundtrack but it was changed for some odd reason.
Something I just noticed about this vid and a bunch of the recordings from the GDQ events: there's some weird dithering effect going on with the screen, like it's being filmed through a screen door. Is this a capture card thing, a post-processing thing or what? (also it kinda goes without saying but holy shit this run was amazing, great work!)
when this game was new, my friend and I stayed up all night playing it to the very end. We got to the 3rd Dracula fight and he just completely annihilated us and it was game over.
Question go get the magical nitro get to the ele vator room slide to the corner of the door and jump the second you can when the nitro explodes is there a chance the nitro will push you into the cutscene and you won't die??????
At around 18:40, you state that the window sliding clip will only work on the US 1.0 version. I'm pretty certain I do not have this version, because I was unable to do any wall sliding double jumps, but I can still clip through the bars in the castle center no problem. I'm just curious if this was said by mistake or if there's a way to double check which version I have?
I am always so torn on this game. I only beat it one time. I always lose interest right after the bull fight. But the title screen and parts of the game are freaking brilliant.
Let's change the time of day just good and it instantly kill somebody. This item id rather use the moon card to make it nice and then when I need it to correctly just for the specialist varying amounts of lag and it
If I remember correctly you climb on top of something and try to clip through to the other side. Most of the time you end dropping into nothing and not doing the skip
Cosmo, the fight with Camilla, the witch who can crash the game if she doesn't attack and then does the spinning ice attack: you said that your weapon gets weaker during night time, but it turned night time right as you started to attack her. Is your weapon degraded immediately or is it over time during night?
This run with your commentary is a great example of how speedrunning is more than just playing through a game quickly, it's deep science and puzzle-solving too.
The constant jumping makes this the cutest speed run ever.
Holy crap the Towers of Science and Sorcery terrify me. You play with a confidence I don't think I've ever had in any game.
The only game I can play with remotely close skill is Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together. I can read how the AI will react in pretty much any situation, and know my moves 20 or so turns before I can make them. I'd post runs and such, but it's a SRPG, boring as piss.

UnbiasedGuy123 Hey, maybe you should think about uploading some strategic/tactical RPG playthroughs. I think that those are fun to watch, too. ;)
Nathaniel Huston If my capture card works for my PC, then yeah. But I think it's for console only.
JelloApocalypse what are you doing here. this is so weird
HE SKIPPED 42 AND WENT STRAIGHT TO 41. BEAST lol #Lockwood
The tower of sorcery... I got goosebumbs, love the music
I've seen you do this speedrun countless times and it never gets old.
42:20 " I feel like its probably the best speedrun I have ever done."
Then you got that 18:10 this past Sunday in OOT and destroyed your PB/WR.
Gratz Cosmo
This was the first Castlevania game I ever played, and it's the best in the series to me purely out of nostalgia This run-through was amazing.
These commentated runs are great.
Watched it live both times! Grats Cosmo. Can't wait to see you hit all your WR goals.
Carrie is one of my favorite video game characters.
I wanna hold your body with all my heart
@@VisualTedium ???
This game was a crucial part of childhood but to this day I never understood what releasing that giant crystal’s magic did.
I was about 13 when I played this game, and the gardener with the chain saw scared the bejesus out of me.
"The lasers were really nice to me"
Words not commonly uttered on this earth unless by cosmo
A very incredible run and commentary! I honestly had no clue how much science there was to this game. Congrats on WR.

cant believe u made me love this game so much, not a Castlevania fan but always watched your runs and watched this live :)
Caught the end of your run online. Gratz. Never seen/played this game. It has great music!
I watched this live last night and it was such a great run, so hype. Rip Carrie because totally killed it cosmo. You're the man. It was really cool to watch you do the post commentary live on this run it really explains well.
sick run
I really enjoy the commentated videos
That platform segment in the Tower of Sorcery had me nervous as hell.
So glad I could see this live. Kreygasm
This is so awesome. The run and the commentary. Fantastic.
What a run. I played that game soo many times as a kid. But I never tried those things. Good job, I really enjoyed watching. :)
Carrie'd it home! (i'm so sorry for the pun) Amazing job Cosmo!
Very fun to watch, the commentary is a very nice addition. Explaining the small details definitely helps new runners.
Saw this live last night, amazing run Cosmo!!

this games ost is really great
The one thumbs down is from the former record holder. ;)
Awesome run Cosmo, congrats!
Cosmo you are a beast I was there to see it live, thanks for the countless hours of entertainment.
OLD SCHOOL!!! Brings back memories!!
When I first saw this 41 minutes highlight on twitch I was like: OMG they found a new trick that saves like 2MINS!!!!1! But no, it was just crisp execution all the way through.... Gratz Cosmo, awesome run!

Best Speedrun Commentator in the business! ... He's not too bad at the speedruning part either.
Finishing a category must feel like graduating... awesome job.
the tower of sorcery always has me clenching my butthole T_T so scary
I remember struggling on this game as a 9 year old before the days of internet and walk-through guides. Things like the garden maze and castle center w/ the nitro took me days! It's amazing to watch someone do it in minutes and to know all the secrets now.
Great run, Cosmo. I remember watching you run this game a while back. Needless to say - you have improved quite a bit.
COSMO CONFIRMED FOR GOD-TIER
This is the best cosmo vid of all time
I like that Dracula's big scary castle was laid low by a girl skipping through the garden.
Skipping forever. Incessantly skipping.
Forever.
Forever
Such a beautiful run.
Good job cosmo, I loved watching this live, it was fun! Great job!
That was truly amazing! It motivated me to bring it out and start playing it again!
I really enjoy your commentary and explanation of your movements.

Awesome, loved the commentary:)
love the commentary.
god this game gave me nightmares as a kid.. nice run!
Absolutely incredible.
Holy shit, this is amazing. 0_0
Watching this speed run made me realize that the game grumps r never gonna beat this game...
Took them a whole episode to break the seal on the door lol
Really great commentary, its hard to see all the nuances of what you do just to save a few extra frames. gives some good context to how much you really work for this.
Hey CosmoSpeedruns I love watching your AGDQ and SGDQ videos. Here's a little CV64 trivia for you. The mage you fought was originally meant to be Sypha from CV 3: Dracula's Curse and her battle theme is labeled as 'Sypha' on the soundtrack but it was changed for some odd reason.
damn this run was so damn good, i love this game so much as well
Great job! Very interesting explanation.
RNGod and RNGsus were on your side for this run, man. You're not even going to go back to this if someone breaks your record? Understandable.
Something I just noticed about this vid and a bunch of the recordings from the GDQ events: there's some weird dithering effect going on with the screen, like it's being filmed through a screen door. Is this a capture card thing, a post-processing thing or what?
(also it kinda goes without saying but holy shit this run was amazing, great work!)
recorded with a split signal, directly from the console
when this game was new, my friend and I stayed up all night playing it to the very end. We got to the 3rd Dracula fight and he just completely annihilated us and it was game over.
Love watching your runs! Keep it up!
I can't wait to see his 49:33 Reinhardt Record he just set.
I cant BELIEVE how fast you beat tje second to last boss. Omg epic!
42 minutes, 20 minutes for Castle Center 22 minutes for the rest stages
i have to practice keeping my calm during speedruns. it's nerve wrecking sometimes
man you're awesome xD you and Insane gaming are so good in this.
Grats Cosmo!
Very nice commentating!
Question go get the magical nitro get to the ele vator room slide to the corner of the door and jump the second you can when the nitro explodes is there a chance the nitro will push you into the cutscene and you won't die??????
When she jumps it sounds like a pogo stick. lol
i didnt know a lot of things wow, really amazed xd
Great job man. Great game, too!
I wish I could do jumping jacks like that...
wazzzzuuuppp Cosmo, Narcissa :)
Unbelievable! Well done!
I discovered the first sequence break by accident
Ever consider speedrunning Devil May Cry 3 or 4? Watching this reminds me of those games.
This game almost looks like a retro Dark Souls. Doesn't look as bad as most people say.
Nice commentary!

I think I was wrong in the commentary; somebody else mentioned this to me. Interesting though.
yo jugue tanto este juego que la mayoria de las cosas que hiciste en el video las hize pero me lleve muchas sospresas mis felicitaciones amigo
and by "mistakes" he means "minor imperfections"
I am always so torn on this game. I only beat it one time. I always lose interest right after the bull fight. But the title screen and parts of the game are freaking brilliant.
Does anybody know if Cosmo ever said if he thinks sub-40 is possible? There may even already be a run that's sub-40, but I haven't seen any.
He's said that he thinks sub 40 is TAS only.
Yeah, that does seem pretty logical. Thanks~
He said his sum of best splits is low 41, so sub 40 does not seem possible.
I love this!
What happens when the status says (GOOD) or (VAMP) or (POISON)?
Who's watching on 2018? :'(
I am, and sadly at that. Wish there would be more speed runs from cosmo like this.
i miss cosmo every day
Let's change the time of day just good and it instantly kill somebody. This item id rather use the moon card to make it nice and then when I need it to correctly just for the specialist varying amounts of lag and it
if I want to buy this game in its first NA release, how can I identify it?
hoooooo yheeeeeaaaaaa speed run (thumb up) :D
Cosmo, remember when you said you would never speedrun Wind Waker ever again?
Quite intense!
Was this WR or PB?
So what is the 4 second faster skip in the nitro room?
If I remember correctly you climb on top of something and try to clip through to the other side. Most of the time you end dropping into nothing and not doing the skip
Cosmo, the fight with Camilla, the witch who can crash the game if she doesn't attack and then does the spinning ice attack: you said that your weapon gets weaker during night time, but it turned night time right as you started to attack her. Is your weapon degraded immediately or is it over time during night?
The weapon power is at its very lowest (half of what it is at noon, I believe), at midnight.
It starts degrading at 7pm, hits the weakest point at midnight (half damage).
Will you ever run carrie again if your record gets beaten/a huge skip gets found?
PERFECT
Impresionante…!, es un record mundial…? This is a world record…? Good job, aunque usas trucos (Cheats)
Josué Adrián L.R. Imbecil
If you get to sub-19 in OoT that'd be so amazing. Or sub-18, if this minute-skipping trend continues.
