I just did it the second time this morning. It worked better this time. I used almost (I thought) boiling water the first time. Then it didn't look right so I added more water. Bad mistake. Today I followed the recipe to the letter and it worked! I also used a different dutch oven which I don't oil to keep from rusting. I didn't set off my smoke detector with the steam or smoke and the bread was perfectly done except the bottom which was a little scorched. My alarm didn't go off, and I didn't remove the cover but it was perfect anyway. Thanks for posting the recipe.
Wow, your no-knead artisan bread recipe is fantastic! It's so simple and perfect for busy folks. I love the idea of customizing it with different add-ins like garlic or rosemary. Plus, it's super cost-effective. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing
I made this today and it was an absolute fail. I think my water was too hot and it killed the yeast. The bread never rose and it didn't cook properly. I was so looking forward to this.
OMG you remind me so much of Reese Witherspoon lol. Great recipe!!! So .47 cents, assuming you are in the US, equals about $10.47 cents in Canada🤣🤣🤣🤣 I will give it a go...thanks!
The dough is too floppy to make a rounded loaf; it needs support. An alternative to a Dutch oven is a heavy cooking pot with metal handles. It has to be large enough for the dough to expand but not so large that the dough spreads out over the bottom. If you don't have a lid, try a doubled sheet of aluminum foil; press it down around the sides to hold the steam in (wear oven mitts). Some home bakers use a cast iron skillet to hold the dough and turn a pot upside down over the dough to act as a top. A steel bowl will also work as a bottom or a top. Experiment with what you have. Just make sure the handles on any pot you use can take the heat. I have an old pot that I unscrewed the handles from, and I just keep it for bread. The heavier the pot, the better. Make sure you use the parchment paper to hold the dough. It also makes it easy to lift the dough out when done.
@@momlife-thrivenotsurvive9181 thanks 😊 it's good for new bread bakers to know they don't need to purchase a Dutch oven (they should! I have several!). Metal bread pans can also be used as top and bottom if they fit. I just did this to make a loaf shaped no-knead recipe. Happy Thanksgiving👱♀️🍀
I just used my normal bake setting (not convection, not top only or bottom only). I believe this is top and bottom baking. Thanks so much for watching!
I'm guessing boiling water might be a little too hot. I would let it cool for a few 30-60 second) a bit before adding it. That said, I've tried so many cheats and variations of this recipe and it's almost indestructible. So you might give the boiling water a try and see what happens! Thanks so much for stopping by!
That is a great question. I actually have never owned an air fryer so I can't say from personal experience. Google says yes, but I don't have any personal experience on this. Good luck and enjoy!
Great question. I use hot tap water from my sink, but it's definitely not boiling. If it's too hot it could kill the yeast or make it more sour (according to google:)
I have two that I use regularly: 1. The first is 3.5 quarts and that is the ideal size for this loaf. 2. I have doubled the recipe and made it in a 7.5 quart dutch oven and it turns out perfectly. You just don't want it too big for this loaf or it will spread out too much. I'm sure it would taste good, but it would be more flat. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
Nope. Not unless you use a proffing drawer or otherwise lightly heat the dough. I've been making this recipe for over a decade... it needs between 8-24 hours to rise at room temp. Too short a rise and it will be rock hard.
It would definitely make a tiny sandwich! I have doubled the recipe and made an extra large loaf which turns out great. That would work so much better for sandwiches.
Even in these days of inflation, the ingredients in this loaf are extremely reasonably priced. My husband, however, calculated the cost of the power to bake it. According to him, heating and cooking in the oven costs about twice as much as the ingredients themselves. Bummer.
This is healthier than anything from the store. Calculate better health, better energy, longer life, fewer medical bills. The smell of fresh bread baking might be a bonus but also adds to a happier home.
If you crumble your parchment paper and then flatten it out is is much easier to handle
Great tip!
I just found your channel with this video popping into my feed. I love artisan bread, so had to watch!
Awesome! Thank you!
It’s unreal how cheap and easy it is to make bread at home! I never buy mine from the store 😮
You're absolutely right! Amazing!!!

You are SO welcome!! It's actually borderline life-changing in our household. I love it and hope you enjoy it too. Thanks for the sweet note!
I add cheddar cheese to mine and sometimes 🥓 bacon
Everybody has the best recipe.
This looks delicious!🍞 I've always wanted to make a loaf like this. Thanks for sharing!

meant to be warm/tepid water. Not sure why she said hot?
Looks amazing! What if you brushed the top with oil or butter before baking? Would it make crispy crust?
Good idea!
❤
Throw a couple ice cubes in at the end after covers off it gets crunchy
Hmm... I would think that dry heat, by removing moisture, would be what promotes crunchiness.

I'm sure this will be great. Please say what kind of flour, AP or SR. Some new bakers might want to know.
Great note.
All purpose flour is what I use.
Water temp should be about 115 degrees; use the inside of your wrist under warm-hot running water - water should be the temp for a baby’s bottle.
Better to use tepid water and not hot. Yeast prefers it.
5 minute crazy bread
❤😊
if i dont have a dutch oven, would it work if i just plop the dough out on a regular baking sheet ?
Great question. I had a family member try that and just cover it with foil. It turned out ok, but a little more dense and not as good.

Turn the parchment paper upside down...
Absolutely great suggestion!
Happy to find your channel
Thanks so much for coming!
That is a Pyrex type or Corning Ware dish you have. Dutch oven is the cast iron pots with lid.
You're absolutely right. This is a corning ware dish. The recipe calls for a dutch oven, but this dish acts similar.
Happy Thanksgiving👱♀️🍀

does this work with whole wheat flour?
Yes, I have tried it with whole wheat. It’s still good, but much more dense. I prefer white flour, but half and half is also good.
Did you set the oven with bottom heating only or top and bottom ?
I just used my normal bake setting (not convection, not top only or bottom only). I believe this is top and bottom baking. Thanks so much for watching!
Can we use hot water that has just been boiled for making this bread Tq

If the water is to hot, it will kill the yeast
Boiling water kills the yeast.😢
Nope, that will kill the yeast,I use bottled water
Could you use air fryer parchment liners in the dutch oven instead of a sheet?
That is a great question. I actually have never owned an air fryer so I can't say from personal experience. Google says yes, but I don't have any personal experience on this. Good luck and enjoy!
Does the hot water kill the yeast?
It’s not boiling hot. If you can put your fingers in it without burning, it’s good

What’s the brand and model # of your range?
Frigidaire Gallery gas range. Thanks for watching!
why didn't you cut it to show the inside?
Nice bread indeed...and you`re pretty, too!😊
How many quarts is your baking pot? Thank you. Can’t wait to make❤️

So easy
Yes!!
2-3 hours should be sufficient to let it rise
Nope. Not unless you use a proffing drawer or otherwise lightly heat the dough. I've been making this recipe for over a decade... it needs between 8-24 hours to rise at room temp. Too short a rise and it will be rock hard.
A longer rise makes better texture in breads
I bet it would be great if you substituted the salt with an envelope of dry onion soup mix. I'm going to try this on my next loaf 🍞❤
Great idea!
💐💐💐💐💐
why do you not show the cut bread ????
GREAT IDEA!
😊
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!
What about the 5 minutes on the title?? 🤨
The big problem with this is it makes a round loaf which looks good but is ridiculous if you want to cut slices for sandwiches.
It would definitely make a tiny sandwich! I have doubled the recipe and made an extra large loaf which turns out great. That would work so much better for sandwiches.

Super interesting! Still cheaper than a homemade artisan loaf from the store. Thanks so much for watching!
