@floryan2705 I totally agree with you, you couldn't put it better. Obviously Chan is an excellent skater but he doesn't move me in the least whereas Plushenko is pure drama, passion and excitement all in one. He's never boring or dull even when he isn't perfect, you feel his strong personality through his skating. I adore his style and class!
Amazing. Plushenko= the best.
This guy is a MONSTER! How has he been able to maintain this level of technical fluency--while improving the rest of his skating!? As for his presentation, I think the general quality is incredible. I agree with those who question the "over-reaction" toward Chan's artistry... I can see how we'd go crazy over Takahashi's superb presentation, but (as Johnny Weir stated on NBC during last year's worlds) I don't really understand why some people seem to idealize Chan's presentation.
Evgeny is the only male skater ever to give me goosebumps, to make me smile like a giddy idiot, and to make me cheer and fist pump like mad, and to make me feel his sorrows...all in the same program. His artistry is unmatched by anyone right now. Lysa-who? Patrick who? It's so easy to forget about his injuries, surgeries and age. The KING has truly come back to us.
Thanks a lot for uploading this video so quickly! I'm so happy Evgeni won his deserved 9th national title. Obviously after a lot of injuries and 2 years off he cannot be in top form yet, but he's always the king of the ice. His performance in the free was amazing, I love this new program better than the short, his spins and transitions are way better than in Torino or Vancouver. The Russian legend is back! Congratulations, Evgeni, you are special!!
Yes, Evgeni has been training to compete at the Olympics in Sochi. He is going to participate in Russian Nationals and European Championship this year, but it's a big question about the Worlds (apparently he doesn't want to), And ISU allows him to compete. Last year he became the champion of Europe.
Oh,I'm surprised when I read some comments: "it's nothing, he hasn't chance to beat Chan, or Daisuke(I don't like Chan).Of course, because he didn't skate for two years, he had a lot of phisical and mental fight with himself, and with injuries. BUT! He could win, and it was well-deserved win.He learn many new elements, and I'm sure in the next season he will be in great shape and he will be able to win again. I know his will, mind, and soul! EVGENI YOU ARE MY HERO, YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION!
at last, compliments to all these great fortune-tellers who found PLUSHENKO'S VICTORY improbable even impossible...and an advice: have many coffes before watching chan, otherwise you'll be awaken only by his falls!
He had a planned knee surgery at the end of February in order to be able to train better in summer and further. He didn't plan to compete at Worlds 2012, but all expect him to go to every competition next year.
Not bad, but not great. He's got 2 years to clean it up :) He'll only get stronger, the more he trains & competes. I have a feeling he'll be the one to beat in Sochi.
Good skate from Plushenko for a man his age. Great jumps. But transition wise, Dai and Patrick still rule currently. Good luck for 2012 Worlds, Looking forward to watching Plushenko, Xavier, Dai and Patrick fight it out! All the best to them all.. I enjoy watching them skate. I am no hardcore fan for anyone skater. Good skating and great program are my favourites. :=))
Yes, the King is most certainly back. It is not perfect, and he knows that. He still has work to do, and I see him easily winning a seventh European title next month in Sheffield. His only real challenge there is Brian Joubert. I'm sorry to the other Russian skaters, but no one in Russia is quite like him. I don't think anyone in the world commands the ice and the audience the way he does. I can't wait to see how much better he is next season after his surgery after Europeans.
@EEDiazL What a smart comment!! Plush didn't competes for two years!! Nowhere! Even in a small competition either. He had surgery, injuries, he couldn't sit on one's heels in october! he couldn't do spins, he had big pain in his knee.He did the first quad since 2010, before 10 days.Do you understand? And Plushy knows very well, he can't win with this program with this skating. Wait! He will be much better! He is a fighter, who loves the working, adores the figure skating! He is a genius!
KING Plushenko is BACK, : D !! BreathtaKING !! : ) Evgeni... You were the BEST of the 2000's, but I'm sorry : /, GACHINSKI IS the NEXT KING : D !! GO Prince GACHINSKI !!
@SimonaCB I hope you're right but Plushy now needs more than one quad in his programme. After the stupid judges gave Lysacek the Olympic gold, the ISU has upgraded quads now. Notice that more men are back to doing quads again. Chan, Fernandez and Brezina all now do more than one quad in their long programmes - Plushy needs to be doing the kind of programmes he used to do in his battles with Yagudin. I hope he can do it - but I doubt it.
Does anyone know why he didn't compete at Worlds? I assume he's anticipating competing in the '14 Olympics, so Worlds would seem a natural stepping stone.
@EEDiazL But i know, because of Plushy and his supporters the ISU changed the rules. Finally! When Yagudin retired Plushy was only 19, he was at the beginning of his carrier! And he was the eternal rival to Yagudin? :) Chan is 21, Daisuke is 25, Kozuka is 22, Rippon is 21, Joubert is 27 right now! I think Plush will be better like Joubert.... or Joubert must withdraw? :) Otherwise Plush said that today's Figure Skating became more difficult, this is progress!
@lavergne100 that's from years of performing. Comebacks are best when the person brings something new to the table. to me, he's still doing the same tricks, but SLOWER! I'll admit, I'm not a fan of Pushy, and honestly, I do applaud for his love for Russia and his fans and also the sport, but if you've got injury, you can't do anything more, you can't stack up to all the others in the world, coming back is only gonna bring tears in the end. We don't need old materials here, we need innovations!
He IS a legend, no doubt... BUT he's never done it for me - even when at his best 2000-2006 (and had great choreography too) I always preferred Yagudin (possibly my favourite male skater of all time, who not many mention here). I wish him luck... the program could do with more polish and better transitions... but, hell, who am I to criticise him! Let's face it... Quad triple combos are amazing!
He's probably the best jumper I've ever seen, but half this program was just doing crossovers preparing for jumps. I'll give him credit when he can weave complex choreography and knock off the jumps. Also, his spins lose steam at the end, but I guess that will come with more training. It's definitely not going to be a cakewalk for him.
I love Plushenko. He's a skating legend & if you search YT you'll see I post many comments supporting him. He should have beaten Lysacek in 2010 Olympics. BUT, sadly Plushy is past his best now. This was an o.k performance but I think he'll struggle to beat some of the younger skaters. This season we've seen better performances from Chan, Fernandez, Takahashi & others. Plushy is struggling to do his trademark 4T/3T combo & other skaters are doing quads easily. I would hate to see him humiliated
@lala630312 Kattarina Witt left amateur comps in 88 and retired for good in 2010. Torvill & Dean retired in '84, came back again for one season in '94, and I believe retired for good in '99 or so. Boitano came back as well from '88 in '94 and retired. He's been retired ever since. Why does your Plushy need to come back again? Truthfully, after all this ailments, do u think is worth risking his health? After all the medals he's got, what is he chasing? He believes without him there is
@npe1 Evgeni will better in Sheffield! Read his interviews after RusNat CHamp! What he did, this was a heroic and incredible come back. Wait! Plush knows what must to do. :)))
@npe1 I have no doubt that he knows what to do, what must be improved. But he said that he is not afraid of defeat in this year. He needs to learn many new things. Look at the spins aren't masterpieces, but it has changed a lot. There is no doubt that he will be better in ECH. You're British, don't you want to go to Sheffield to support him? :))))
I hate chan cause he talked mess about plushenko and i love plushy i dont care what yall say chan may have good transitions but he cant do no quads which proves that plushenko is the king on ice
@thesignofvirgo I'm saying if he does the same 250's... Fernandez has never done that, Joubert can but often doesn't. He could, I think. Brezina has been done 210 - 220's this season, and Amodio the same.
i have a question and i hope somebody can give me a response to this ok here goes is evgeny plushenko going to skate for the olympics in 2014 and also has isu let him permision to skate again. im only asking cuz i havent been up to date with the skating news thank you.
the only artistry I've seen in EC has been the "falling" ability! EXCEPT PLUSHENKO! end art never meant only "grace" or "lyrism"... epic, drama, narration ecc., on the contrary, are more powerful and difficult forms of art and usually includes "romantic pics"! omero, shakespeare, dante, eliot and the like are less artistic than petrarca or keats or tennyson?
@EEDiazL No, you don't know him. He wants to compete in home Oly Games. I'm sure, if he will be 4th or 5th, he will be glad. And that will be unrepeatable. I just saying, the haters to be patient, Plushy will be much better. Maybe he will not be able to win, but who cares? Listen , what he is thinking about this thing. /watch?v=l2_4dwaZmgY Yes, all sports are evolving, we could see at Vancouver! Lysacek's win was a great "evolving"! Regress! continue....
He shouldn't be allowed to compete in Sochi, and he needs to retire for good. He already has his Olympic title. It's beyond time for him to retire for good from amateur skating. He's a nuisance, and his return is not welcomed.
@GioMariatex97 Really? Chan is a great skater but his programs are often full of mistakes and even falls... And this program of Plushenko HAS transitions and good spins. Of course he needs to improve the jumps, he has a lot of work to do but he knows that: he's a fighter and he'll succeed. Please stop saying Plush lacks artistry, he's the most exciting skater ever!
@lala630312 CONTINUATION FROM BELOW: no men's figure skating. Wrong! All sports are evolving and revolving doors, one out the other one in!!! This year's GPF mens comp was the big ticket, and Plushy was nowhere around. Last season men's World's was an eagerly awaited event. Without Plushy in it!!! The truth is, there are newer, perhaps better skaters than him. No one is eternally unsurpassible. It seems to me his eternal rival Yagudin was able to move on with his life and career.
@VWYL900802 yes, and thats why you should shut up!!!!! We ALL can appreciate and be inspired by someone like Plushenko. im not even a fan of him. To be able to come back at this level, after winning all faces of competions over and over, with multiple world champs, 3 olympic medals including a GOLD! damnnn talking about ballz, courages, drives, and determination!!!!!!!!
@AligolP Exactly!!! And as a Yagudin fan I can probably say the man after 4 more years after SLC would have said: I got enough of this, I have accomplished everything I set out to, and now is time to retire and move on!!!! rather than just pretending the world of figure skating is mourning and dead without him. Rivals can only battle so many times before people can become bored of their battles. Yagudin always came on top, and by all means is far superior to this guy.
I'm sorry, I found this to be a very dull and boring performance, he looked like a robot, skating is suppose to about grace and being able to be an athlete at the same time, he just looks like he is going through the motions and not caring.
And he's so boring: tango in 2006, tango in 2010, tango in 2011, let's go, try an other theme for FS... All the three programs written here have Marton's music and near exactly the same choreography...
He has non chance to beat Chan: technically he is ok but artistically this program is awful: no transitions, no choreography, just jumps and arm movements... boring...
I love this man so much! And YES he is amazing. But being perfectly honest this is not his BEST and he needs to get so much better if he expects to win international competitions
Perfect performer and master of skating!
@floryan2705 I totally agree with you, you couldn't put it better.
thank you!
Thanks for your all posting! I love figure skating!

A couple little blips but basically as good as ever. He must have worked so hard to get back into this shape. Welcome back!\
The surgery went really well, he is preparing for the next season, and his new choreographer is P. Camerlengo!!! :-)
Yes, Evgeni has been training to compete at the Olympics in Sochi. He is going to participate in Russian Nationals and European Championship this year, but it's a big question about the Worlds (apparently he doesn't want to),

Superhuman! I loved his reaction at the end.

100% pure beauty! Fire on ice! Excellence!
for some reason i've never really liked him that much, but damn his jumps are awesome.
Welcome back, KING!

Russia have such amazing skaters!!
@Frenchy1984 well, maybe chan will be good in the FUTURE, but NOW Plushenko is the best.
Congratulations!
Gosh, I missed him in competitive skating. He's the KING!
Now that was a piece of art.
@iloveplushenko Already booked my ticket for Sheffield and yes I'll be supporting Plushy.
Congratulations, Evgeni !!!
KING Plushenko is BACK, : D !!
BreathtaKING !! : )
Evgeni... You were the BEST of the 2000's,
but I'm sorry : /,
GACHINSKI IS the NEXT KING : D !!
GO Prince GACHINSKI !!
yes yes Evgeni the best
And I also must say this music perfect for him.

@iloveplushenko great !!!!!!
@Anastasia14094
@EEDiazL But i know, because of Plushy and his supporters the ISU changed the rules.

Maybe. Who knows? :)))
I love Plushenko. He's a skating legend & if you search YT you'll see I post many comments supporting him. He should have beaten Lysacek in 2010 Olympics. BUT, sadly Plushy is past his best now. I have no doubt that he knows what to do, what must be improved. But he said that he is not afraid of defeat in this year. He needs to learn many new things. @iloveplushenko I hope you're right.
I hate chan cause he talked mess about plushenko and i love plushy i dont care what yall say chan may have good transitions but he cant do no quads which proves that plushenko is the king on ice
Nia cira: Chan do perfect quads! Idk what your talking about!
@xxzenyaxx So true!!!! I agree with you!!!!
@pwinks84 YEAH! As the american skaters on nationalchsips....

@Tommymanjusri And Chan's is not, of course.
@Frenchy1984
I agree with you on this one a 100%
I liked it, but he's too serious! I liked the plushenko in the 90's when he was giving funny and impressive performances at the same time :)

@eurydike Yes,he won!
@VWYL900802 Yes, like Chan! Chan is the great innovator! His innovations were the falls! 2 or 3 falls in every programs!!

continue....
@lilithhardrock Of course...i'm not surprised. I felt in love with him, at that minute, when i saw him.
He is special, without a doubt, but when A. Mishin compared Evgeni to Jesus Christ that was too much

@EEDiazL I totally agree with you: his spins are horrible...
@GioMariatex97 Chan is boring, not Plush.
did he win the russian nationals::)? please tell he really did:)
Did he win?
Poor perfomance! No need to come back if you aren't able to develop your skating.
I find him boring.
He has non chance to beat Chan: technically he is ok but artistically this program is awful: no transitions, no choreography, just jumps and arm movements... boring...
Boring and totally OVERSCORED!
I love this man so much! And YES he is amazing. But being perfectly honest this is not his BEST and he needs to get so much better if he expects to win international competitions
