One WAW custom map I remember being quite innovative for its time was UGX Requiem. Had a rather unique easter egg (to me at least), including an elemental PAP, custom traps and turrets you could buy. Shit was wild and I love that map. Wish it was ported/remade in BO3.
There was a WaW custom called Mixti Fori, it is the most advanced map I think I’ve ever played. Theres like a main hub and portals that take you to 4 other areas to collect crystals, then you get a fifth teleporter to a snow temple area. It needs to be remade into bo3

You start on a boat and you need to make your way up this downed pole that connects to the bridge, then you have two different escape routes you can work towards. Its not the best map but its the first map i watched YouAlwaysWin play and its what got me hooked on custom zombies. As for BO3, theres a lot of options but i like 1938: Full Circle. Its so well made and it has 4 other maps that all connect together
Some off the world at war maps were getting insanely innovative especially with the amount off things you can port over. Then Bo3 zombies came out and I lost interest in watching customer zombies as I remember the maps not being as good as the world at war ones at the time and world at war just had that vibe I loved
There's actually another Super Mario 64 map which is made by Ochillon. It's pretty good as well but I think it's only on BO3. It predates the one that was remade for Noah's contest though to my knowledge. Would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're interested. EDITED TO ADD: I got the creators name wrong. Ochillon is the name of another map that was right below Super Mario 64 in my map order, so my mind connected it as the map creator. Actual map maker is named Spiki

I will still play World At War Custom Maps Zombies because there are a few Custom Maps that are just PERFECT, like Clinic Of Evil and others that I really enjoy. Plus, World At War is way more friendly with PCs that are not that good(like me, I can barely play BO3)

Now We wait for someone to make a Port of the Twin Towers map to Black Ops 3 Heres some Enhancements ideas for the Black Ops 3 Port of that map: - Relocate the Mystery Boxes of the Towers to the top of the Towers so that We don't need to search floor by floor for the damn box - Remove the button that spawns a plane and gives a nuke because thats just cheating for free points over nothing - Added a Sniper wall weapon at the room at the end of the Lazer Trap for some fun but it must NOT be a Semi Automatic Sniper because that would be too easy and have it cost 1000 for the weapon and 500 for ammo - Added a Window with Zombie spawns for the room at the end of the Lazer Trap just to keep players in check - Added a starting pistol wall weapon at the starting room for infinity ammo for first room challanges and also for a easy way to get the starting pistol back in case You wanted back have be 500 for weapon and 100 for ammo - Added a grenade wall buy at the very end of that cat walk of the starting room to make easier for people doing first room challage have be 500 for Grenades - Remove the clone perk machines Keep the Jug and Double Tap ones in the house and remove the ones outside - Remove the Teleporter floating in mid air - Relocate the Pack a Punch machine to the top of the Teleporter Pad just to look cool - Put a SMG wall weapon somewhere around the map but NOT inside the Starting Room. to make easier for players to have a weapon for points and surviving without being complete depended on the box have be 1000 for weapon and 500 for ammo - Put the Gooble Gum machine somewhere in the map but NOT inside the Starting Room for obvious reasons - Have Raygun Mark 1 and Wonderwaffle DG-2 be the only Wonder Weapons in the map and have both be Box exclusive - Have the only Zombies Spawn in the map being the 2 Windows at Spawn+Window at Room at the end of the Lazer Trap - Keep that Cool Lazer Trap based around the Lazer scene of one of the Resident Evil Movies - Have only Quick Revive, Double Tap, Jug, Speed Cola as the maps Perks - Give only thoses 4 Perks for the people using Perkalcoholick - Put the Bowie Knife somewhere in the map that is NOT the Starting Room.
