Brisbane Marketing's Investment Attraction division interviews Tony Schiffmann, Managing Partner, BDO about the benefits of being a corporate partner of Brisbane Marketing's Investment Attraction team and why Brisbane is an attractive investment destination.

BDO is a leading professional services firm in Queensland. We're a firm for accountants and we offer services in the range of audit, tax and advisory. We're also a partner of Brisbane Marketing's Investment Attraction Team. BDO has been in business now since 1913, we have a broad range of clients, in excess of ten thousand actually, so that means we touch on many of the sectors and businesses in Queensland. Sectors such as mining, construction and tourism, just to name a few. Mining is a big sector for us at the moment, it is attracting a lot of investment, but we also have a lot of businesses in retail, pretty much anything you can think of in Queensland we act for them.
We have a team of people in our international business section and our China advisory team that really are seeing very many opportunities for companies who want to invest in Queensland who are coming here now and looking for those opportunities. So we go to Brisbane Marketing, we work closely with them to ensure we maximise this opportunity. Our relationship with Brisbane Marketing is really a critical connection from our point of view. Our relationship helps us add value to our clients so they can be more successful in the business community.
Brisbane has been and continues to be a significant centre for investment, we've seen it for many years and that is just continuing at the moment. Sectors such as mining and energy are an obvious one but that flows through now to mining services, property, to name just a couple. We are seeing the investment coming from a variety of sectors, we're seeing overseas businesses coming into Australia, but also we are seeing a lot of interstate investment coming from other parts of Australia.
One of the significant strengths of Queensland and Brisbane particularly is its proximity to Asia. So we are now seeing many businesses who are setting up their regional headquarters here in Queensland and Brisbane is now seen as a great destination to push out into this region which will be the growth area for the world.
There is no doubt we see Brisbane as a truly world-class city. There is many, many opportunities to mention mining and energy, infrastructure is a key one for us, we are seeing a lot of investment from overseas countries. It's a great city, it's attracting lots of people, lots of investment and we think the future is fantastic.
