EAS - Amber Alert during Arthur (2016 WFWA-DT2)

- This Child Abduction Emergency (aka Amber Alert) was broadcast on WFWA-DT2 in Fort Wayne, IN, ironically during an imagination sequence on the show Arthur, in which Arthur and D.W. are about to be captured by the evil Ratburn.
The Amber Alert was cancelled later that evening with an unfortunate outcome. R.I.P. to the two innocent children. Prayers for the families and others involved.
This incident highlights why Amber Alerts are so serious when they are broadcast to TV, radio and cell phones.
Recorded at 1:06 PM EDT 9/26/2016 from WFWA-DT2 Fort Wayne, IN.
Note: I was not able to record the initial three EAS header tones. I do not know why the 8-second attention tones were played three times. Child Abduction Emergencies are rare to catch, at least in my experience.

The Arthur episode is #509 "Just Desserts/The Big Dig".
Sadly, the two children did not survive this day. Amber Alerts can be annoying when they come across your phone or TV, but you never know just how urgent the situation may be, as in this case.

So this scene is truly ironic.
Nightmare fuel. The combination of the horrific sounds, voice of the man and the message about small children being abducted and knowing terrible things re gonna happen in a short time makes these type amber alerts utterly terrifying.

It’s the lines like “and are believed to be in extreme danger” that really get me... this stuff can be really scary and disturbing.
For those who don't know:
*Amber Pasztor* did something very horrible to those two children. She did kill *Rene Pasztor* & *Liliana Hernandez* by smother them, yes by smothering those poor kids. And also she did drove those kids to a police officer where she flagged down a officer.

Fun fact: The AMBER Alert was named after 1996 abduction/murder victim Amber Hagerman.
AMBER alerts have been useful in finding missing children since then.
There’s also Silver alerts for missing adults. These alerts have helped save people & will continue to be here.
Another fun fact (idk if its true or not): Everytime a amber alert happens the kidnapper/suspect goes insane and kills the child who they abducted.

The fact that the abductor was named amber, and the eas alert named after the abducted child was also named amber. That’s crazy.
Ironically it appeared during a episode when their doing Hansel and Gretel, a story about kids who are lost.

If I were 5 (or so) years old (watching this), I’d probably have nightmares for weeks upon weeks.
Anytime a E.A.S. Alert involves a deadly event such as this, it is TERRIFYING.
I feel so bad for the families of those two kids.
Whenever I hear an eas, I literally get creeped out sometimes. Especially when it starts and ends.
They also should’ve made an “Arthur” episode about stranger danger safety so that they can teach kids how to be safe and prevent stuff like this from happening.

What makes this alert even more unsettling is that it reports that more than one child had gone missing, and the episode being broadcast shows Arthur and D.W. (And maybe Buster) seemingly lost in a forest and in possible danger. Coincidence?
I got a similar Amber alert where two children went missing as well last month here in Northeast Ohio, they were both Lopez kids, one was Gabriel and I think he’s an infant and they got kidnapped by their own parents I believe. Fortunately this time they made it safe.
RIP. Also, my PBS only does the tests, not any actual emergencies. At least not that I've seen

Imagine if you were home alone watching Arthur in the dark and being normal...then an amber alert comes on and then you grab the biggest kitchen knife and run to your room and lock the door.
I remeber a Monthly Test came up on KVIE (which is not my local station, mine is KQED.) during the credits of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. For some reason, 5 or 10 minutes later, it played on the radio. (I do not know the radio's callsign.) BTW RIP.

That’s the Primary Entry Point Station for Fort Wayne that’s relaying the alert via live audio. It sounds really distorted due to the alert transmitting over the broadcast and because the broadcast is bleeding in with the alert audio.

in my area(north Texas), if a Amber Alert was to be issued, i'm sure the EAS would interrupt during Arthur or any PBS programing from KERA to bring the Amber Alert (with the Amber Alert sound that is used by the North Texas EAS primary station WBAP and in Canada on CP24) from WBAP or from NOAA Weather Radio (without the Amber Alert tone).

The mother died too what happened was that the mother stole the car from her neighbor and when the mother drove the car back to the neighborhood WITH THE DEAD KIDS IN THE CAR the neighbor killed the mother with a gun
