I have TONS of Corriedale roving, white, grey, mocha and and dark brown. I have been dying it by the pound (except for the dark brown) and spinning 1- and 2-ply yarn. When I’m not at work, I’m dying roving or spinning yarn, or crocheting blankets with my homespun yarn. I love all of your videos, I watch them while I’m spinning, and I have learned a lot from you! I was here for the daily Vlogmas two years ago, and last year’s Vlogmas. I can’t believe it’s that time again, the time goes by so fast, and before we know it, it will be distaff day again 😄 Don’t feel bad for wanting to enjoy the season! I’m sure most of us are just happy with whatever you decide to do! ❤
Happy Vlogmas! Thank you Evie for a fabulous start to December. I made my own advent calendar this year. In the summer i found a company that sends their fluff out nicely wrapped in white tissue paper, so i treated myself to a selection of beautiful colours and materials from bamboo, flax, merino and shetland. I meant to buy 24 but i couldn't choose so my calendar is a 32 day 😊. My partner stuck numbers on the parcels and i then had to forget what i had ordered. Every evening i will be getting warm by the fire, a cat on my lap and spindle in my hands and spinning my advent treats. Thank you for all the inspiration and tutorials. You are a star 🌟
On getting started with equipment: part of the fun is the hunt/search for your desired equipment--and yes, some of it will cost you, so start saving while you hunt.
Happy Vlogmas! Always nice to put on Evie while working on something. I'm running some leftover thin velvety fluff yarn through my i cord machine. Velvet i cord is gorgeous 🤩
Happy Vlogmas!! I don't spin, but I love to sew and mend and generally just make my things nicer. My current project is to rip the old (disgusting!) sherpa lining out of my favorite jacket and re-line it with a very old and very worn vintage wool blanket :) it's got a ton of damage and is threadbare and disintegrating in some spots so I'm afraid that I can't save it as a blanket, but I think there's plenty of stable weave left to line a jacket. It's SO pretty and SO warm! I'm going to try my hand at working with rabbit fur as well for the collar.
Plying from hand spun: You can self-ply (basically doubling a single on itself) by doing a center pull ball. You can make one with a nostepine (spelling probably wrong) which is basically a tapered stick that you turn slightly as you wind off. Or you can make one with your hands by doing what some people call an “Andean ply wrap”. Then it’s a ball you’re pulling from both center and the outside, and you just need to be a little cautious of it catching in the center. But you never end up having leftover on one ply ball after you’re done. 😂 which is my problem with separate ply balls.
I started spinning sort of by accident! I was drawn by a new craft shop and my children were trying to push me past! I did go in and came out with an Ashford Traditional wheel! I had never considered spinning before but I instantly loved the idea. I had no idea how to spin and there weren't many books available but I did what it said on the little leaflet which came with the wheel and I was off on my journey. That was 40 years ago. I know because I was expecting my youngest child. I've had a couple of other wheels in between and now have a Majacraft Rose.
I love this channel 😊 I'm not much of a festive person, but Vlogmas is something that makes me feel happy for the month of december. Thanks for all the joy you share💖
Happy Vlogmas everyone! I’m spinning some gorgeously dyed Merino/black silk combed top I got at a fiber festival last month from Friends in Fiber. I also got a Shetland fleece (my second fleece, first Shetland) at that festival that I plan on processing next year. Highly recommend the Ashford Kiwi 3 for an affordable first wheel. I don’t have a big wheel collection, so mine is my go-to wheel, super versatile and also the wheel I first learned on!
Hey i am totally in a different time zone here in India. But luckily I can watch your videos later and enjoy them. Thanks for putting in all the effort. I am spinning on my ladakhi phang spindle. Bye
You wouldn't enjoy my current project - at least I don't think you would. I'm knitting a number of elf socks for a Christmas tragic. An elf sock is roughly 1/3 the size of a regular sock, so they don't take very long to make but, at least with the ones I'm making, they do include all the construction features of a regular sock. I've made 3 so far in Shetland wool (already dyed and spun) and I'm now working on a pair in my own handspun. (My first handspun in yonks, I blame you for getting me to refurbish my late mother's wheel and then start spinning.) It is knittable. As it is undyed the back story for the white socks is that they were the ones that belonged to the angel that was visiting one of the elves and she dashed off in a hurry when she thought she was going to be found in a compromising position.
What a lovely way to start December! I missed the live today but hope to tune in to the next. I'm not spinning right now, but I'm doing some weaving with thrifted yarns (I found some Brown Sheep too! What are the odds?) and sewing today.
how can I accesses the scheduled? I was confused on that front. Also can I still see the vlogmas for 2020, I couldn't find it on your channel. PS. Happy Vlogmas
It will be posted on Instagram and as a scheduled Livestream a few hours before I go live. The time will vary and also depends on my family's schedule.
Blessing day 1: "May your warp never break"
That seems very appropriate for a day of spinning for warps.

I love overtone. Easy to add bright color to your hair and if it’s not super dark you can just put it on whenever you want to zhuzh it up. 😂

this brightens up my lunch break during December :)

Fun video🥰 I need to invest in some beginner friendly fiber but I’m more interested in plant based fiber.

I submitted woven mug rugs to the county fair this year, and they were like, "coasters???" Yes, coasters. 😆
Thank you so much Eve for sharing your knowledge and experience so graciously.

Yayyy!! Vlogmas Live! Cant wait to watch all month! Happy creating! 🎄🎁
So cool, Evie, thank you 😊 ❤
I'm so happy I get to join this year!
Happy holidays! I really need to take a good pic of my German flax wheel to show you!
Also, people in and around Ontario, Canada can get previously loved refurbished wheels from As The Wheel Turns at fiber shows!
I also own 12 Shetland sheep now too..love them!
Those Shetland colors 😍😍
Happy Vlogmas Jillian and all!
Happy Holidays Jillian!

spinning some camel a friend gifted to me... it's neat
Good evening! I was at work but joined for the recording. I am grabbing my topwhirl spindle and one of your dyed poleworth rovings! Happy Vlogmas!
