  • Don’t be afraid to use more than one sample tool from Sherwin-Williams to narrow down your choices. For example, start with 10 color chips in a few different shades that you like. From there, find your favorites, and order larger Peel & Stick Samples to compare over a few days. Still undecided? Grab a can of a Color to Go. This can help you feel super confident in the color choice because you have done so much preliminary evaluating.

Also, on the back of each chip you will see a Light Reflectance Value, or LRV.  This number refers to how light or dark a paint color will look on a scale of 0 to 100. The higher the LRV number is, the lighter the color is and the lower the LRV number is, the darker the color is.

If you have a darker room, a color with a higher number will be a good choice to reflect light.  If you have a bright room, and want to create a cozier space, choose a color with a lower number. The color cannot add light to a room, it can only reflect what is already there.

We have been using St. John's Avenue location for years. On my most recent project, I had to source paints from 3 different locations. I only ended up purchasing one gallon from the St. John's location. I discovered that the St. John's location used a different base (they used a deep base, all other locations used a super deep base). When I went in to resolve the issue I was told that my wife "didn't understand" the issue and they refused to correct the issue. Please don't use the St. John's location to source your paint their sexist staff may make a mistake, blame it on your wife and not resolve the issue
