Whoever made that Bridget retcon must have had severe oxygen deficiency in their brain, because no one in their right mind would think it was a good idea.
I did see something on Twitter that showed a conversation from daisuke that he wanted Bridget to be like what poison from street fighter was. Like how fans can say what their gender is and such. @@supershoutmonx8327 Imagine thinking google is ever factually correct. Especially when they are often paid to spread specific information and suppress those who disagree. Lmao
I really don't get why they need to convert femboy characters into trans characters. Like Bridget has been a certified femnoy icon for roughly 20 years, but suddenly a localizer says he's actually trans and those 20 years mean nothing. And like why is that even the icon you'd want as a trans person? All their icons and properties are almost always things they steal. They hardly ever create their own ideas, and when they do, it's garbage. I don't get how they live like this.
Because the hacktistist can't be bothered to understand what futanari is in Japanese culture. Not surprising considering how racist they are towards Asians.
Bridget was already trans from the start, people just never understood his character. She's always been fine with masculine and feminine terms but they just don't enjoy being forced to be a boy or girl as they prefer just being themself and liking what they like without being in a gendered box, people are so set on wanting characters to be in gender boxes though that they do this nonsense
We wouldn't end up here if they weren't constantly pandered too in the first place. It's the reason they think the moment someone is a little bit different it's immediately a tribute to their pet gender issue, because so many times in western media it always is.
And it works at times. The Paper Mario TTYD remake did a full 180. In the original Vivian was localized to be an actual woman, in the Japanese version he was a femboy... in the western version of this remake he was made trans. Dunno about the new Japanese version, I'm assuming it's the same as in the original.
Ah yes, the character that was very literally groomed into being a girl by others is who they demanded to be their trans representation. Truly genius move.
@Diamondr11Blue Long story short from what I researched, Bridget identifies as a boy, but the village he came from had a superstition about identical twins or something to that effect. So, the parents forced him to be a girl to hide from the stigma. Bridget, obviously, didn't like this, so he set out on a journey to prove the superstion was just that. This whole transgrnder stuff came about after the release of one of their more recent games. In arcade mode, there is a good and bad ending for each character. Bridget's good ending was him winning the tournament or whatever and successfully proving the stigma wrong, proudly declaring he's a boy. The bad ending is that he loses and defeatedly accepts the fate that was forced onto him. Guess which one the Twatters decided was canon.
Kind of reminds me of the situation with Mahiro from Onimai. The guy got genderbent against his will and forced to live as little girl and yet some trans people perceive it as good trans representation.
Personally I feel like just having him be a crossdresser makes more sense than him being trans. Like Bridget was forced to dress and act like a girl because they didn't want him being killed due to superstition. So him being a femboy makes sense. But by turning him trans it turns the dynamic on its head. He was forced to turn trans because of superstition to survive and so it feels a lot less of a choice, which doesn't give good vibes.
Yeah, imagine the psychological damage that would do. And then i remember hearing the other characters being like "oh you should be a girl if you feel like it" when he was expressing an uncertainty in his identity, which like, wtf? That's like seeing someone drowning and reaching out for help, and you push his head back down into the water instead of grabbing his hand.
@@TheRealBlazingDiamond Yeah, exactly. I love GG to death but I feel like this is just a bad way to go about with the character. @tomigun5180 oh so Goku from DragonBall Z is now Trans because he's voiced by a woman? They have women voice males who are young and immature. I also believe Goku had the same VA between DragonBall to DragonBall Z in Japanese and that was from child to man.

If only these people defending Bridget now being a woman used that same energy to defend real people, that would be lovely... but that's not the world we live in.
More than likley, she didn't say "he" or "she." Japanese often drop the subject matter. An auto translator will always define the subject as male if it's missing.
I remember TV Tropes used to have an entry titled “Dropped a Bridget on Him” to describe the shocking revelation that an effete character is actually male. I bet they’ve changed that to make it less fun like everything else.
What made me especially upset with Bridget is taht in prior games his character arc had been about him wanting to get past being raised as a girl and find himself. To become the kind of man he wanted to be ... but then they pander to "Progressives" and just have him instead ... give in to his own past and simply embrace the lie he'd been raised in? Isn't that like ... realy regressive of his character? He's gone backwards to how he was when in disguise instead of trying to grow into his own self. But all the "progressives" care about is making everything they can into an icon for them to use. They don't actually care what it means for the backstory.

The thing about people pushing Bridget being trans as representation are proving themselves to be dumb or tourists. Bridget was forced to dress and act differently than their actual gender, which means Bridget being trans is actually really bad representation because it acknowledges the idea that gender conversion can work. This was actually the initialy controversy: some genuinely concerned trans people who knew the lore thought Bridget now not caring what pronouns people use meant Bridget was now trans and called it out as bad representation. Other people then pretty much told them that Bridget just wasn't trans Some weirdo/extremist leftist then saw that respone, blindly assumed it was transphobia, called in more of their ilk, and collectively screetched until the creators capitulated. Looks like the Guilty Gear anime is following the true lore of the series and not the last minute retcon made in Strive in order to catter to the Twitter crowd.
Full context for you. In the village Bridget was born in, identical twins were a sign of an ill omen of doom. It was tradition in this village that one twin was to be killed to prevent this omen of doom from manifesting and destroying the village. Bridget was born one of a set of identical twin boys. His parents chose to hide his identity as a boy and raise him as a girl instead. Thereby subverting the superstition and saving his life from an angry lynch mob. Bridget has since then felt conflicted about his innate masculine nature clashing with his feminine appearance and demeanor. He was effectively groomed to save his life but feel he is denying a part of himself. His journey in Guilty Gear is resolving that conflict. Like others have said, he became a bounty hunter to make a name for himself and defeat the superstition that was responsible for his situation. In Guilty Gear Strive, the campaign mode allows you to play the story from the perspective of every character. There are two endings depending on how well you do. You lose key fights during the story progression you get the 'bad' or lesser ending. If you go 10-0 flawless victory, you get the 'good' or greater ending. For Bridge, the 'lesser' ending results in his self-confidence being shattered and he accepts the grooming forced on him resolving in becoming a girl in both mind and body. The 'Greater' ending sees him harden his resolve in that only he can define himself and that no one can force him to accept any labels pushed on him. Therefore he becomes comfortable being a man that enjoys dressing like a girl. But he is still, a man. Because dumbasses suck at fighting games, many of them got the lesser ending and there was a massive push to force the studio to make the lesser ending 'canon' when the series has a tradition of 'all ending are canon'. Thereby forcing this to be the 'one true ending' despite it being the lesser one. The studio caved and the trans-movement claimed Bridget as their own. This sparked a backlash among longer time fans who know Bridget as the 'Trap' he was originally created as. A man who crossdresses as a girl but doesn't have the mindset of someone with gender dysphoria. Traps after all are only 2.67% gay. And that's the full story in a nutshell.
Daisuke wanted to make the trap character more popular in the west so he just went with it and later said that this was always the intention... shure; he did not create Bridget by the way.
Nobody in Japan acknowledges Bridget as trans. He was and always remained an otokonoko. The trans controversy was 100% isolated for terminally online people who love "claiming" stuff to reinforce their headcannons and ideologies. Otokonoko is part of japanese culture and it has been a thing for hundreds of years BEFORE western influence. But you can't really expect the tolerant to tolerate such things. It's not appropriation or erasure if they are the ones enforcing it.
For japan back in its feudal era, some emperors had even gone as far as disguising themselves as women to escape a losing siege battle. So yeah its even a survival skill back then, just like Bridget's case come to think about it.
@@hdWWtchR Correct. Also because of Japan's extensive history with it's Kabuki Theater. Over 500 years ago, Kabuki was seen as the country's highest art, enjoyed by the Emperor himself. However, due to it's popularity, many actresses would be saught by men to the point of the reputation of Kabuki Theaters becoming brothels appauled the Emperor. He prohibited women from acting in the theater and female roles would have to be played by men. Something that still happens to this day (though women are allowed). Thing is that when that happened, the practice of men seeking the actors remained, even with them being crossdressing men. It is documented that it such illicit practices actually got worse after the Emperor banned actresses! So femboys/otokonokos are literally a cultural and historical national treasure. All of that BEFORE Japan started trading with europeans and started to have some influence in their culture. Though it took some 200 years for Sakoku to be lifted after the Americans forced Japan to resume trading with the west at literal gunpoint.
Bridget becoming trans implies that Bridget's village were right in pushing their beliefs on Bridget, with the message being that societal pressure works and you should abandon your identity to conform.
I do find this...interesting, to say the least. If you've been with Guilty Gear for a bit, you'll know Bridget's family were basically forced to either raise Bridget as a girl or exile/off them due to being in a very superstitious country that believed twins meant hella bad luck (this was made worse by them being a royal/noble family). 90% of the character's "Journey" (at least from what I know, could be wrong, feel free to use the wiki to fact check me cause this is all off the top of my head) is them trying to establish the superstition is unfounded so they can be semi-normal. I don't know how their story ark changed in Strive, I haven't played, but it does seem a bit fishy for Strive to do an about face and call Bridget trans when they were very firm about their situation in all the previous games (plural). Plus, the whole localization thing just seems weird (though its probably just a translation error, as some people in the comments have pointed out). I'll be interested to see where this goes in the future.
With Strive, depending on how well you did in the Bridget Campaign story you got one of two endings. (This is actually standard across ALL character stories in Strive. ALL of them have two endings.) In the 'bad' or lesser end where you lost key fights, Bridget caves to pressure and accepts his fate as a 'girl'. In the 'good' or greater end where you go 10-0 flawless victory, Bridget hardens his resolve and becomes comfortable in being a 'Trap'. That is a man who crossdresses as a girl but doesn't have the mindset of someone with gender dysphoria. People lobbed to force the lesser ending as 'canon' because the progs suck at fighting games so they all got the lesser one and wanted to claim Bridget because of it.
Honestly the only reason we got bridget reintroduced into the series was cause the devs saw how crazy people were about gender here in the States and saw money signs. Change up some dialogue here and there. Make him a her and pretty much the face of the series by always including hm in marketing. Bam, easy brownie points. Meanwhile he's still a dude over there. It's also funny that they bridget was a victim of gender grooming and the west ate that right up making him a "good example" of representation.
Is he the face, though? I've never played the games, but wouldn't Sol Badguy or Ky or Dizzy or someone like that be the face? I think I once heard that _Strive_ was Bridget's first appearance in a good while...
@@TheCoolerDrilis yeah sol is the face of the series but for strive they pushed Bridget HARD. After they debuted him he was the sole thing they used in the marketing. every twitter post, every ad. This whole transgrnder stuff came about after the release of one of their more recent games.

Please, for the love of god, tell me this X profile is a teenager because I'm sure it looks like one. Damn Squeakers.
Relatable.
If you accidentally type "him", you start a war online. It's like our version of the Demon Core.
Bridget is male. If he's not anymore, then the people he was fighting against won. That's actually kinda sad.
Man... it's always funny to see people trying to bend facts with their head cannon when they don't have any proof to begin with.
2:04 just seeing the trans flag with the Palestine flags in their bio tells me how smart these people are.
Straight up regarded people who are extremely privileged to the point that they have a shelter life that made them extremely delusional.
hey bro that palestine flag is dont have anything to do with these rainbow cult they just want to be noticed they dont care about people dying and genodside they are only care about they own gender is nothing to do with palestine
It's not controversial to be against the wholesale slaughter of civilians even if they don't like your ideals.
And to get ahead of the counter argument, no. Gays were not being killed for being gay in Palestine. It's stigmatized for sure, but people have other problems to deal with. (The throwing off of rooftops post that fourchinners like to mention, was actually from ISIS in Syria)
In fact israel has been kidnapping and blackmailing homosexuals into being informants, which in turn could get them killed for treason. Not to mention israeli bombings probably killed more homosexuals than any hate crime that might have happened.
So the prophecy was true, Bridget really was a bad omen
Bridget is Hoshino Ruby 😭😭😭
As someone who loves Bridget, he's a man, crossdressing man. His story was so much interesting as a man than a trans...
Also we couldn't make Bridget joke anymore if he's a woman 😭🤣🤣
Japan, stay based buds
Japan going mask off and me going pin for pin, perfectly balanced, as it all should be
Is it any wonder why Chipp wanted to transition from American to Japanese?
Looks like the Guilty Gear anime is following the true lore of the series and not the last minute retcon made in Strive in order to catter to the Twitter crowd.
Bridget is the world's most beloved trap. Don't take HIM from us!
Break the egg sounds like something a groomer would say
Oh wait
Strive community never fails to disappoint me tbh
It's honestly weird how they love to use terms like gender non-conforming... But then INSIST people conform to a certain gender.
Hm k.
I wonder if we’ll ever see Bridget’s twin brother
Bridget is a case of society forcing you to be something that you're not and over the years becoming crazy enough to believe it
....I am not insane. Bridgit is a guy and his story is just another take of defying traditions and disapproving superstitions.
Women often voice boys in anime & is standard for all I care.
Oh toh ko no ko
Indeed. It is a staple of even Western animation to have women voice young boys.
A woman voiced *Goku* in Dragon Ball (Masako Nozawa).
But bridgets lore is him wanting to be considered a man despite the way he dresses. Why do they think bridget is a transwoman?
Because they don't understand what Futanari is in Japanese culture.
@@davidford3115Bridget is a guy with a twink/feminine body type.
He is no futanari!
@@davidford3115that's a bit different, this is just a femboy 😅
Imagine these idiots saying to not exclude them but they’re excluding these people to force their projection. Leave the art alone.
I really hope Japan starts taxing tourism to help keep this woke cult we've allowed into our country out of theirs.
this isnt even 1st world problem, its like 0.5 world problem. I am too busy living between 1.5 and 2 world problems to give a shit about this xD
ALL of them have two endings.)
In the 'bad' or lesser end where you lost key fights, Bridget caves to pressure and accepts his fate as a 'girl'.
With a lot of localization issue cropping up since 2016, its not a translation error, never could've been.
The amount of times I made that grooming point and it was met, somehow, with "it's fine" is staggering
because the people who hate the west are in control and want to push that crap
Is he the face, though? I've never played the games, but wouldn't Sol Badguy or Ky or Dizzy or someone like that be the face? I think I once heard that _Strive_ was Bridget's first appearance in a good while...
@@TheCoolerDrilis yeah sol is the face of the series but for strive they pushed Bridget HARD. After they debuted him he was the sole thing they used in the marketing. every twitter post, every ad. It was always Bridget being showcased to the point fans complained asking for some variety of who they show
Remember "Everyone is gay for bridget"?
As a tomboy who was SOCIALLY PRESSURED INTO BEING TRANS, I am now avoiding the left like a plague, not caring if any of them are nice or "based". As soon as I hear anyone talk about this sort of BS, I am out of the friendship and their whole circle. Done with people that avoid therapy and play pretend, then force others to play along.
I've seen 5 year olds throwing less violent temper tantrums than the modern audience
it's weird they are justifying him being abused by being forced to be the daughter in his family.
I left guilty gear long ago. With the censorship and changing characters to appease Western ideology making the community so toxic, I just couldn't take it anymore. Anything from Arc Systems I just give a hard pass now. I don't and can't ever trust them.
Bridget always was (and still is) a femboy, not a trans. The "idolization" of cute feminine looking boys is ingrained in japonese culture for more than millennia
I would literally rather have AI do this shit than some weirdo ass localizers.. I actually hate these people
