- Welcome to the first Patreon week! This one's for Brian Madden, who's given me a workout in the TAB department and highlighted just how terrible my slide playing is so i'll work on that...thanks Brian :-)

This is a run through of how to play Stone Gossard and Mike McCready's parts to "Red Mosquito" by Pearl Jam. Enjoy!
It's me who should be thanking you Matt. Loved it .
Brian Madden awesome, glad you enjoyed it mate! Was fun working this one out 🤘
Greetings from Jersey 😫 I can't believe how many songs you got going on now. Stone had always been one of my favs. This is making me want a Les Paul again like I was 17 lol. Thumbs up man 👊
Matt, this was AWESOME!! Of course, you answered my questions about what Stone was doing behind Mike and to no Surprise, Stone was bouncing between regular chords and some of the Gossard wackiness that I couldn't figure out but you nailed it!! Man, your ear for notes and chords is Incredible! So, Big thanks for this one since I did ask about it. You made it make perfect sense as Mike and Stone aren't the easiest guys to replicate!
You’re welcome Todd glad you’re enjoying the vids!
Great to see you muting the unplayed strings, I hear a lot of players not doing that. I also like to mute behind the slide, lap steel habits die hard. That said learning slide has made my normal playing better. It has also helped my relative pitch. So keep it up. Stone also plays slide on Four walled world on Temple of the dog. I think Mike also has used slide on off he goes but could be wrong there. I think there is overdubbed slide on a few other songs here and there for effect. Did you try a metal slide, you might like that sound better too. Keep at the slide and keep up the good work.
bravo bravo thanks mate, I think having a higher action would help too haha, lap steel sounds pretty cool 🤘
I didn't realise how good it can be for someone's playing to learn different parts of the same song. I'm nearly 40 and grew up without the internet, so that wasn't really an option for me back then. I was going to make a joke about the 3 parts of Corduroy but looking at the bar on the right, it looks like you've done just that! Great video, I'm trying to get into slide as it's something to do when your fingertips are done for the day. I wonder how they manage the extra guitar part when they play with Ben, might be something for Eddie to do when it's just the band.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed the vid! Slide is something i keep meaning to get into so i'm determined to do more of that, i need to set up one of my guitars so the action is a bit more slide friendly.
@@LetsPlayAll No worries, thanks. I would try it on your acoustic, seems to work better than on electric for me.
@@davidburgess547 yea my acoustic action is pretty low too tbh :-) excuse to get another guitar haha
Maybe in about 15 years from now I'll be able to play half as good as you Matt. Awesome video!
Ahh thanks Chris glad you liked the vid mate!
Hey Matt! Tell your wife that educating your “faithful” students are more important than taking care of the kids. Hahahahaha!!!
Nah, just kidding! Thanks for another gem of a lesson. So much appreciated
Matt Klein haha well if we bring them up properly they should themselves become students of PJ 😀
Well, my son is almost 18 years old and has been a die hard PJ fan since he was 4! I’m giving him one of my prized posters from the band for his college dorm room next year
@@mattklein562 That's awesome mate - parenting done correctly :-)
You are the best. Love your videos tks mate!
You're welcome Norberto!
I really love that Les Paul. I can’t remember if you said it was a different brand or anything. But it looks and sounds great! Your making it sound great!
Jason Guion thanks man! It’s a Japanese made Edwards LP, it’s my cheapest guitar but has some mojo and does the PJ rhythm stuff really well
GREAT thanks from italy
Dude... Please stop saying you suck at slide. You are better than 99% of the people trying to learn, which means we really suck!
Haha thanks mate, I really must learn it properly at some point! 😊🤘
Love your videos bud. Love PJ.
Thanks Anthony!
I was bitten... must have been the devil
Great
Many thanks for the tutorials, I’m requesting I got ID.
You're welcome! That's already on the list, we'll be working out the next few lessons on Patreon soon
You suck (a lot less than I do) at playing slide!
Great tutorial - this track has always been one of my favourites.
haha thanks Andrew
