Timba is a kind of syntheses of the most popular Cuban dances, an intricate mixture where salsa casino steps and figures are combined with old ethnical styles like cuban afro (Yoruba or Palo) and Rumba (guaguanco and columbia), and modern dances such as reggaeton hip-hop, dance hall etc.
A true "timbero" - is not just a regular salsa partner, he is a master of improvisation, on the first place, who always listens to the music, follows every single twist of the tune and is able to express a rich variety of timba rhythms by means of his own body moves and footwork.
Dancing timba means a lot in salsa-world. First of all, to have a sound skill not only in salsa casino, but as well in cuban rumba (guaguanco, colu,bia), Yoruba dance (orishas), reggaeton and despelote (cuban style body isolations). Second point , a timbero is meant to have a strong ability of improvisation as well as partners skills. Third, he is very friendly with Cuban music and rhythems and is very creative in his dance style.
In sum, a dancers who are called “timberos” are very excellent Cuban dancers, a great part of them are street dancers which means they have no professional degree or in Dance or Arts but stell they are amazing and awesome in they dance style.
