but there are charcters that have even longer damn next then in the first cover page that shows in the manga and looks so much worst with even longer necks.
At least have clothes that kind of, make it stand out less. If you look at say persona 5... Ann has a long neck, but her clothes hide it or draw attention from it... Ya don't go full airpod look
@@Januaryof28 no I mean like her hair is huge and the hood of her jacket also gives something to focus on while her PT look has a high collar. It happens with everyone really
That's just sad. Regardless of what u think of TR, that's not a reason to have this much hatred for someone. Leave it twitter to hate a person completely.
It's all they have. Everyone who considers themselves "the community" this way is only and solely consuming media, not even for escapism, but JUST to live through manga like the most pathetic parent living through a child. Parent who literally achieved nothing but get knocked up, thats the equivalent of finding a manga and start projecting on it. And if there's ANY good ways to be that person, still the chances are that's not you, that's you needing your ideological plot beats repeated, completely regardless of how well the story is told. They jsut need the story to lie the correct lies of "this totally happened" like to tic a box. It's the same reason possessive parents just want to gossip THE WORDS "my kid is a doctor" but have zero interest in what reality actually entails that statement, what the life is like earning that credit.
They were fans in a point BUT WAKUI DISRESPECT AND DISAPPOINTED HIS REAL FANDOM and they will never want to read anything from him again, not only because he gave preference to a group of idiots with a lot of fanservice (fujoshis) encouraged they to be the most toxic bches of all twitter, AND because he sent an entire manga to hell for lengthening the story and giving priority to Mikey instead of his protagonist, Takemichi, it is obvious that they were going to send him "to hell" when they given the chance. And this opportunity is today. Let him go to hell, they will not remember him or his stories, never more. 😂
@@IceHellOwO bro it's HIS story if u dont like it dont read it lol there last year alone i've seen MULTIPLE authors get death threats all cause people didnt like the direction the AUTHOR picked lol it's actual insanity, self insertation is maddening
To be fair the kid called you master and you weren’t one, so legally speaking he was saying your name in defamation which is valid for using the youngling slayer 4000 on em. They had it coming
To be honestly fair to both sides, The TR author had a very hard time to conclude tokyo revengers cuz 1 he was rushing and 2, let's be honest, finding a satisfying ending to a series like that can be rough. Most he could've done was take a break and discuss it with staff, friends, etc... I personally felt the ending was extremely bland and could've been better with some characters "deaths". All stories don't have to have the perfect happy ending. It's no surprise his new manga would get hate cuz people can't really forget Tokyo revengers. But that's my point of view. I say let him cook. Let's hope he learned from his mistakes from TR and can move on to do a better job.
I will never understand y authors decide to just rush their works instead of just putting it on hiatus. Gege is doing the same bullshit and his writing has gotten kinda shit.
@@anonisnoone6125 same thing happened to The Promised Neverland. But honestly I was somewhat satisfied. But like I said: most stories need high stakes and losses from time to time. And making the best decisions for your story means you need a break to really sit down and think. Breathe some fresh air and forget about work so that when you pick up your pen again you have a relaxed mind (I'm speaking from experienc 😂). I hope many authors don't feel pressured over stuff like and "ending" or a "start". It's really not worth beating yourself over.
@@DOG_EATER_1887 one of the main reasons I could think of is they need to make a living. Having a good story is nice and all to make that cash pour in. But when you start reaching the end....*sweating intensifies*. Well it's not everyone's "cup of tea". It depends on your point of view. Each Authors situation is different.
@@Abyss3223I don't know whether you're brining up Fujimoto as a counterpoint or an example to back up the op's point, but I know for a fact that Fujimoto is one of the most diverse in character designs between his individual series. Chainsaw man's character designs hardly resemble Fire Punch's, let alone the noticeable change in art style. And I wouldn't even constitute that as him growing as a artist, because ironically Fire Punch's style was way more detailed and fleshed out than the more rough, scratchy Chainsaw man.
Bruh, most mangaka have prior works with similar feel, topics or genre. Are we really so myopic in our thinking in today’s society that a fairly successful mangaka creates another manga?
It’s crazy that legit the only similarity is the Yakuza/Gang thing Based on the first chapter, the new series has more in common with something like *Fire Force* than it actually does with Tokyo Revengers
In defense of the ending for tokyo revengers. Now there isnt any proof of this theory i have but after reading some interviews with the mangka i learned that he was actually in a bosozuku gang just like toman and he has said that to this day he regrets a lot of the choices he's made. And from accounts of him and other docs ive read about bosozuku, a lot of the violence and crime he put into tr was pretty similar to some things he had heard about or saw in his time as a bosozuku. But he's also said that many of his friends from back then are either dead or in jail which he always regrets. So for me it eases the upset i have for the ending because you could look at it as him sorta giving his friends a happy ending in his own way(obviously not every character is a 1-1 copy of a irl friend but all mangaka take from people they know and have met). This doesn't make the plot holes and other things better but the gripe ppl have about "no one dying" is more so bittersweet if you see it from this way. And its not like those deaths from other arcs didnt happen all the pain the characters felt is still there, takemitchi and Mikey still remember everything and they always will so they may be on high alert for the rest of their lives. This is most definitely cope but hey its a fictional story wtv helps me sleep at night right?
That's honestly so true though- I personally was relieved to know the ending kept everyone alive, because I don't think I could process Emma's death very well if that weren't the case. I think that theory makes a lot of sense though, whether it be he was rushing or not, I could see him just wanting to give a happy ending to an, in other words, extremely dark story.
He was.. the whole point of Tokyo revengers is violence is wrong.. it’s not the solution.. that was clear form day one if you were actually reading. He was part of that culture.. while he enjoyed the culture he also saw that the violent parts of it also is what ruined it.. Why did Mikey start Tokyo. Manji Kai? It wasn’t for violence.. and the manji is the sign for peace/ unity. Etc.. it was never suppose to be abotu violence.. the ending rushed.. but it is how the story needed to end.. People are acting so entitielend.. it’s like.. you’re not the one drawing it.. you just consume it.. if the publishers made bank.. they will let him do another one.. if that tanks rip wakai.. but this isn’t his 2nd manga.. hes done others before and won awards.
@@npcimknot958 I couldn’t have said it better it gets me so sad to see ppl want to put their own expectations and standards on someone else’s stories and then get mad when the author doesn’t do it. Like I see ppl complain that no one dies and yet they praise shows like dragon ball that killed off the mc and set up his son to take the role but then didn’t even stick with it.
@@madmouse1016 exactly it’s like ppl didn’t pick up that the entire story was about saving EVERYONE. Like take Mitch’s literally says after Mikey dies in s3 that he’s going to save Baki and everyone yet ppl are still confused. I think modern audiences are spoiled by stories like jjk , chainsawman, and alt where everyone dies. I personally take pride in being a tr fan cause it’s one of those mangas that just cheer you up when ur down
right i really enjoyed the ending, if you read manga you basically already have an idea of the ending, i don’t know if people expected some big twist where takemitchy fails and doesn’t manage to save them, but i’m glad takemitchy was able to save everyone and that there was a happy ending.
The thing that I didn't like about the Tokyo revengers' ending is what they did with Naoto. I understand he was a detective because of his sister's death, so he wouldn't be one in the final timeline because she is alive now. The author could have made Naoto the photographer for Takemitchi's wedding! Literally everyone was there but you left THE guy that been with Takemitchi the whole time in the background and the catalyst of all of this! Nah that's salt to the wound. Also his new design sucks.
Not to mention that what? 1-2 chapter long narration of something that could have had an entire arc of Mikey and Takemichi rebuilding toman to what they want? It felt so comical. You mean to tell me Takemichi suffered so much with going back in time to save everyone just for the author to say “and then he fixed everything in the end” -> cue wedding scene.
@@kaaynn-rn Yo true. It's wack. It was so rushed. Could have at least gave us at least one more chapter of that. I hate the publisher rushed the author.I know the anime isn't going to fixed that, but hope they do add some context at the end, but doubt. We will see.
im confused naoto was at their wedding...he became an occult researcher which is in line because that was the type of stuff he was into as a kid why would he randomly become a photographer?
@@prodby3clips He barely interacted with Takemitchi. He was just there. I mean Photographer for the wedding not for profession. The relationship between them is just gone. By looking at this Naoto, it seems Takemitchi barely interacted with him, so he became this. Naoto not even bother to be at Hina's side. All that development was gone.It would be nice if Naoto was the one who took a pic of them or at least one final handshake. Oh well, even though I don't like this. This not going to change nothing because it's done.
@@SynchroUEHLNFX Im not sure but would naoto still remember the other timelines? Like dies them going back to pre timeleaping cancel all that out? But yea i do get what ur saying now u would at least want an acknowledgment of him remembering a change or at least takenitchi and naoto acknowledging that they completed their goal it did feel like mikey took that place
Is not even about the ending itself, it was the whole final stretch of the manga. The guy had a perfectly decent ending point, but he decided to keep going forward making it worse and worse with each passing chapter. Not to mention that killing Emma was absolutely unnecesary and stupid, and lets not forget how dumb was the whole "dark impulses" excuse or the fact that it was never believable that these kids were first in Jr. High and then in Higschool.
Nah it three deities arc was fire after that the final battle was a huge let down compared to other fights he had. Then the ending wasn’t good. The idea wasn’t awful but the execution was. Also the dark impulse wasn’t dumb, this world had middle schooler gangs running Japan and time travel. Let’s be fr here.
@@stevenmark4407I completely agree that the Three Deities arc was still strong up until after final battle, but I think the dark impulses being a supernatural element and not something caused by Mikey himself makes his character way less interesting and complex. I was excited for a manga to tackle something close to what seemed to be BPD.
and when mikey grampa die??? he never try to go the dojo??? if the time travel thing is like a buddist monkey pads curse and mikey was like omega shenlong...explore that and bring a monk character too explore more that ecen a satori ilumination power up to take it could be fine....or that is need it a ruler to the underworld. like the lich king in wow...
In the case of Fairy Tail's author I don't think the hatered is warrented since it wasn't his first series and despite the ressemblence is different stories are very different. I'm not sure about how desserved it is for this author. He certainly do need to fix his necks
as a huge fairytale fan back in the day it really started to fall after e.n.d, fucking rip (lucy had introduced is to the story and basically being the main lead beside natsu became a fucking tumor and took a lot of time that could have been dedicated to plot or at least something more interesting then litterally any Lucy plot point)
Tokyo revengers is my guilty pleasure, I just love the gang setting and the characters, people need to chill, it's not like you need to read it, just go on with your life
right, they’re acting like they’re being held hostage they don’t gotta like it but they don’t gotta hate on every project ken wakui begins because they don’t like it😂
I myself don't have a problem with his art style. Also Wakui has a history of writing gang related mangas before Tokyo revengers and not all of them are the exact same, so I say let the man cook.
that’s what i’m saying, let him cook. people don’t realize that the reason his mangas are gang related is because he has a past in a gang so that’s what writes and illustrates about. i also like his art style, people just switch up to quick, let the man cook he’s barely just started negai no astro and they’re already starting a hate train and assuming the plot😂😂
Tokyo Revengers' character designs are fire, what are people smoking? Did everyone just randomly start crapping on everything TR because of the disappointing ending? Remember ALL the fanart and tattoos (silly) people took inspired by it? All the profile pictures and what not? Sheeple really wildin'
the character designs are still loved from what i see but it’s true the art style didn’t stay as good but then again it was a long running manga it’s not rare for series to sometimes dip in quality.
I still don’t understand the hate around Tokyo revengers. I mean yeah after Kisaki wasn’t the main villain anymore it fell a bit and I wasn’t following weekly. But I binged it and I enjoyed it. Only gripe is Kisaki should still be splattered along the street.
nah i felt bad for kisaki, even though i hated him at first people got to realize the characters were still kids and all had they’re motives. kisaki just wanted hina to love him, but she loved takemitchy instead. takemitchy wanted to save everyone, even if it meant kisaki.
@randomvideoboy1 I did.. did you read my comment? I said the last arc was the weakest and that I think that Kisaki shouldn’t have been saved. But it was still alright.
Honestly it's kinda unfair to hate on a new series because the authors previous series (that has nothing to do with this current story ) had a bad ending And why are people whining about the art being bad when the only bad thing that they can say is that sometimes the characters necks are a but too long (which may be how the author personally likes drawing necks), it's not a big deal
You people act like authors don’t like to write about the same topics sometimes. It doesn’t make it the same. I don’t care if the last one was mid Woody Allen made the same movie like 20 times but that doesn’t make them bad. Read before you judge. If don’t want a story about gangs with super powers how about don’t read something from a guy who likes making that in an art style he enjoys. It’s not like his ruining your favorite up he made something new for himself
You have to understand that when you grow a fan base you have to either conclude what you created for that fan base or the fan base has to stop liking the work that you do and dessert what you created. Tokyo revengers fan base are expecting him to create the same series because that's what they like him for they don't want to see different work. Just go ask the ,dragon Ball z ,Creator the Naruto creator, the bleach Creator and so many others once they create a fan base they can't create something else. Sadly it's just how it works.
@@LILDroidDEX Is it because people don't care about their new work, is is it because their new works isn't as interesting/good? Tite Kubo essentially retired and only made some small things here and there. Kishimoto's Samurai 8 was incredibly mid and was canned. And DBZ creator slowed down and started doing more smaller stories. So no that's not how that works. Togashi proves you point completely wrong, from Yu Yu Hakusho to HXH. Or "ONE" with One Punch Man to Mob Psycho. Fujimoto with Fire Punch to Chainsaw Man. Rumiko Takahashi has MULTIPLE stories that are WILDLY popular. Same with Urasawa. Bro stop yapping with misinformation. Tokyo Revengers sucked, you know what is a far better comparison? Prison School. Awful ending that made fans, so much that people refused to support his new series. You have no idea what you're talking about, let me add some more Takehiko Inoue with Slam Dunk and Vagabond, Ohba/Obata created Death Note and have multiple other popular series like Bakuman. Yap Yap Yap. Bro try to look outside the Big Three and expand your horizon.
Was it really hated in Japan? The fact that he got a new manga serialized right away tells me the publisher got their money worth and they trust the author to bring even more money.
I've been to Japan it's definitely not hated in Japan it's one of the most loved anime in Japan. I've seen Tokyo Revengers Vending machines , merch everywhere in Japan
No idea, but I wouldn't be surprised. Regardless, the series was a hit, even if the ending was bad. I think, based on commercial success alone, he earned the chance to have a new series published. Let's see if it's good.
Western opinion is doesn't matter for manga author to begin with 😂. This guy make it looks like some random western opinion on twitter would actually have an impact on the topic. If it was a news from japan i would actually listen, but this is english twitter post, who cares about that.
Not, this is pretty much just an american twitter thing. Sales is what truly makes a series last or not, the fact he is getting a sequel pretty much means he is a success.
Nope, Tokyo Revengers is huge in Japan. When I visited Tokyo in July of last summer, there were multiple events and merch collaborations happening across multiple different cities like Shibuya and Odaiba. As a huge fan myself, I was stoked to have been there at that time because TokRev isn’t that big here in the States. I honestly had no idea that the English-speaking side of the internet didn’t like how the manga concluded because I only got into the series last spring and finished the manga after my trip. I’m just happy about the success of Tokyo Revengers and that it’s success led to the author Wakui to begin serializing again, even if the Western audience isn’t thrilled. The opinions of others (especially online) has no bearing on whether or not I enjoy a piece of media, and I think everyone should give Negai no Astro a chance, as well as give potential fans the opportunity to enjoy the work for themselves.
i will always love his artstyle and will be a fan of him FOREVER, plus i love that he didnt really change his artstyle since I ADORE tokyo revengers and miss the series already, its actually comforting and twitter users need top calm tf down
When I first saw the title and thumbnail I was expecting that people were hating on this manga because the author did some of the most heinous shit that would guaranteed be getting him cancelled. But NOOOO, it’s because the author’s last manga had a disliked art style and an unsatisfying ending. Author could have easily learned from his mistakes. See, this is why I hate Twitter, the userbase is totally paranoid and they hate on everything for the stupidest and smallest shit.
I like Tokyo Revengers art style, honestly this is the first time I have noticed the neck thing, since you pointed it out, and the story was really good for me at least until the ending but what can you do I have learned not to expect great endings from manga/anime in general It comes with the territory.
You know why I think the author likes writing about gang fights so much? It probably has to the do with the fact that he use to be in a gang himself as he stated in an interview. So, it seems like he likes writing what he knows and just likes adding a twist to it which is fine. It's fun writing and I honestly like his art style especially the covers and designing of the clothes for the characters. It's very unique and stands out among the sea of cutter board same face manga character designs.
Western fan base mad about an author revisiting topics?, lol, they didn't read much shonen series do they?! XD. Then they are mad when we call them tourist. Designs are fine, the funny thing is that weird anatomy designs aren't something weird in manga, One piece and even jujutsu kaisen have tons of that, but is a problem here because? (Also when they read some shojo manga they might cry a lot XD).
Other series character designs don't stand out like a sore thumb, like every character having a giraffe neck. There's a such thing as a good looking exaggerated anatomy, like larger hands or broader shoulders for example. But the neck being elongated and being the standout feature of the style, is pretty bad looking.
I read the first chapter, and honestly I liked it. I'm thinking most of this hate is from Tokyo Revengers, and I think that's unfortunate because this was supposed to be a fresh slate, and Ken Wakui isn't getting that chance.
I personally enjoyed TR enough to not be too mad at the ending, yeah it wasn't great but the more i thought about it, i realized that it was one of the more reasonable endings he could've done. Besides if its a new series in a somewhat similar style then maybe he can learn from mistakes he made with TT and improve on it.
They are all hypocrites they hate the same art style in a new manga and want something different but one piece did the same thing and hate the new art style
I was about to say one piece has very exaggerated limbs for their characters and not one person complains or harasses the author. Not that you should harass people in general but it's so weird that fans will send threats or bully a creator to the point of stopping all production.
As someone who actually read the first chapter it was so great with really good build up to the supernatural and a fair amount of time to give you a reason to care. It was pretty excellent and I think it sucks that this is getting hate on basically a sins of a father esque reason.
TR was and never will be the “FAILED MANGA” no fuckinh way, I loved the ending ngl sorry the whole cast deserved that ending, in the starting i thought what a stupid way to end the manga but with the time i have just become glad it ended that way.
When ppl start nitpicking based on things like how long a neck is, really goes to show how spoilt an audience can be, and how standards like those have to be accommodated for nowadays in order to be successful as a creative is really awful to say the least (I mean the freakin manga hadn't even dropped and the hate already started)
@@boblipsmackeryour acting like the neck length is integral to the plot. Do you watch one piece and say the neck and limbs are too much or my hero and say the hands are disturbed you from the plot. No, nitpicking the actual plot is good criticism, the art has nothing to do with you watching a series. Unless they use said art for symbolism or for emotional affect. Like how they did, 'when the wind blows'.
Pretty sure Mashima said at one point he views his characters as actors who are performing in different stories, which is kind of a cop out but I actually kind of dig it at the same time
I don't really care for Mashima's work (I don't hate it, I'm just indifferent), but I respect his work ethic. The guy is very prolific and manages to end a series and move on to another. As a writer, I can respect his attitude.
Imagine seeing one character with a long neck in a page with the new characters and say that the problem will stay. Dude it's like one character out of 5?
It is fun when Japan stereotype other countries. I can laugh with what Japan thinks of the US. We know Matis and Melissa are immigrant characters in Pokémon.
These people are ridiculous I respect the author's creativity if he likes his character to have a long neck then let him. It's his story he can do whatever he wants and at least he loves his story and his characters And if he wants his character to have a happy ending then it's his choice. They should be grateful when he decides to share his stories. If they hate so much of his art style and how he chooses to end his story. THEN WRITE YOUR OWN STORY AND STOP HURTING PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY PUTTING REAL WORK IN THEIR CREATIVITY.
Not seeing anyone in the comments sayin how the main character looks like it was taken straight outta the manga Apple Black... lol Could you talk about the diverse manga Saturday AM has?
sure, the ending of TR wasn't the best and could have been better. but i really like the artstyle and how easy it is to differentiate his work from other mangakas, even with the "long neck airpods head". being a mangakas on a whole is tough asf so cut the man some slack, Just like jjk and how gojo's face was inconsistent b4 his death, the pressure of being a mangaka is no joke. I will be reading it when it is release and making my decision on wheater he cooked or not. ppl on the internet needs to be more open-minded... js tho
I was never into TR, never really caught my eye, but maybe I'll actually give this series a try since I tend to like series with supernatural elements into them. The time travel in TR didn't catch me because well, I find time travel to be something pretty hard to work with in general
The new manga looks good. People just gotta chill. Hiro Mashima has got 4 mangas while his designs and story are similar. Let's just wait until it's out. If he cooks it and it's good, then it's good grub. If it undercooks, then it gets axed. The manga will either succeed or cancels itself.
It’s not TR universe. I am sure Ken Wakui is going for something else related to the lifestyle of Yakuza. TR was more of Yankee delinquents style of storytelling.
I liked the concept of ending of TR, but didn't really like that he wrapped it up in 3 chapters what realistically should have been a heavy story arc worth of 1 volume at very least. It felt like someone told you spoilers for the series except it was the actual work. I don't tale any issue with crying or whatver unlike surprisingly most people.
I liked Tokyo Revengers. it's one of the few mangas i actully read every week. It has it's problems but i don't think it's bad. Calling it universally hated is a biiiiit much in my opinion. Specially since just as a casual fan, the show and manga still has a ton of fans. Now on the topic of art work, yea sure if you don't like it, you don't like it. But i don't get it, i think it looks great. But people have their opinions i suppose
Tbh in defense of the designs (as a character designer) its to be expected that sometimes the same guy makes similar designs. In case of hiro mashima its probably more in reference/a homage to the other series, like how plue reappears in all his works, some characters/designs may do that too, and i think some characters are even like alternative universe versions (like happy for example). I also started reading yomi no tsugai, which is by the author of fullmetal alchemist and theres some characters that do kinda remind me of fma characters. Its probably partially due to the art style, or maybe its because the author enjoys certain design aspects, certain hair styles for example. So i would say having the same or similar designs between two seperate stories by the same author isnt that bad. Its worse if characters in the same story look too similar (not purposefully) and you cant tell them apart that well. I guess its also an issue if the designs arent that good. Personally, i dont like the MC's design of this new series. As for the art style, its not really something i enjoy. I dropped tokyo revengers pretty fast because the story wasnt my cup of tea and the art style didnt draw me in either. Its not even the necks. I dont really care about those, but i get it if others dont like that. I can understand that people dislike the manga for the design, the art style or the plot, but also idk if it really deserves such hatred
I've read the first chapter and the story isn't going to be the same as TR, everyone here gets superpowers and there's probably going to be multiple battles between the members of this yakuza family, so it's not about gangs or time leaping anymore, in TR no one besides the main character had "superpowers".
Jsut because there are delinquents doesn’t mean it’s the same.. this guy is stupid.. wakai has other manga and thehyr’e about this topic as well.. no one in Tokyo revengers had super powers.. only the time travel thing. No one was connected to yakuza as well.. i think this guy just has a bias.
The hate alone is probably going to keep it alive. I really do hope it's good though and doesn't follow TRs mistakes. I really loved it in the beginning
I dont care, i read it and i liked it. Dont care about anything that happened but if this gets cancelled due to twitter being a jackass again, well, i dont know but i’m going to be fuming. We already lost mama yuyu
What funny is.. you say a lot of people didn’t like the art.. yet it had SO many art exhibitions in japan.. so many events.. it has a very stylistic look that is instantly identifiable.
Well good thing the hate is mostly from the side that doesnt matter and with that i mean everyone outside of japan. A guy on the weekly shonen jump subreddit made a post about how most places that normally talk about new series reacted and the overall sentiment was positive, sure some disliked the yakuza glorification but the setting of the world made it much easier to see this ciminal organisation has the good guy, most also praised the layout, its made by a veteran on the industry and it shows.
Seems very silly and disrespectful to hate so much a manga/author over his artstyle or story . You don't like it? don't watch it and let the artist and fans alone. In fact, all that hate generate interest in the work one is throwing sh*t.
i actually really like the Tokyo Revengers art style , especially the drip designs are amazing , the problem for me was the random explanation for his powers and the ending "spoilers" ... where nothing matters at the end and everyone becomes friends and how out of nowhere Mikey becomes insufferable and unredeemable just because "dark urges" , i was like , why do we need to save this dude again ?
3:54 this tells me you didn’t read or watch Tokyo revengers then. No one has supernatural abilities.. other than the time traveling.. no one is even connected to the real yakuza when then were 13 years old.. just because its the same subject matter.. doesn’t’ mean its hte same..
I started reading the Tokyo Revengers manga after season one of the anime. It was a really good series...until it wasn't. Everything for me post Tenjiku Arc was uninteresting, meandering, boring, oddly paced, poorly written, and a total chore to get through. The penultimate chapter was laughably bad and the final chapter was fine but completely devoid of any emotional weight. The artwork was always fine imo. If Wakui is writing this story then imma pass.
To ad to Chibi's point: Hiro Mashima has actually written a good series (Rave Master) before and is currently ongoing with the Eden's Zero which is basically just a better written Fairy Tail.
I’m pretty sure the “people” that hated Tokyo Revengers are only the westerners. Damn people are so freaking stupid about complaining over every little thing. My generation honestly sucks, filled with babies who always complain
Fairy Tail is great lol the point of the story is Power Of Friendship its like biting into a banana and asking why its not an apple lol. We watch FT for the power of friendship and its much better than Tokyo Revengers but this is not to say FT doesnt have issues especially the ending/last arc.
The people who actually hate this are whack. 1. The long neck is an art style choice. It didn't stop XXX Holic from being popular, so why should it matter now? 2. The ending sucked but it's a different series. Get over it. 3. As far as I can tell, the only thing that they have in common is gangs. Does that mean Baccano, Durarara, and Dead Mount Death Play are all the same series? No. The time travel was a massive component of Tokyo Revengers, so if this doesn't have that, they aren't that similar.
yall r insane instead of giving a chance to the new work yall decided to bring the tokyo revengers ending. thats yall only excuse. stop bringing tokyo revengers bro its over its not time for this new work so focuse on it
Yea it’s odd doing the very same kind of story, usually mangaka are great for completely changing genre. I read Wicked Trapper a few weeks ago and he said he only did slice of life before it, and you’d never think that by this story, because it goes hard, I loved it, but was really annoyed that it’s only 4 volumes, wish it was longer.
People really hated Tokyo Revengers huh...
Okay: yes, the ending was trash, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance😊

That's just sad. Regardless of what u think of TR, that's not a reason to have this much hatred for someone. Leave it twitter to hate a person completely.
Ikr they are literally sending death threats to an authour for writing a manga . Like get a life
It's so weird imo just go on with your life instead of making death threats to a guy for writing a manga that he enjoyed
Agreed, that kind of behavior is just pathetic
Fr like how much of a degenerate you have to be to send a guy death threats for writing a Manga
It's the same reason possessive parents just want to gossip THE WORDS "my kid is a doctor" but have zero interest in what reality actually entails that statement, what the life is like earning that credit.
yet another reason why manga authors dont like meeting their fans
Tbh not a single mf telling him to just resign is a fan
They were fans in a point BUT WAKUI DISRESPECT AND DISAPPOINTED HIS REAL FANDOM and they will never want to read anything from him again, not only because he gave preference to a group of idiots with a lot of fanservice (fujoshis) encouraged they to be the most toxic bches of all twitter, AND because he sent an entire manga to hell for lengthening the story and giving priority to Mikey instead of his protagonist, Takemichi, it is obvious that they were going to send him "to hell" when they given the chance.

Most authors have the same character designs in their mangas
My favorite Mangaka made an entire manga where half of it was just making fun of that fact.

It's Twitter. It's the cesspool of internet discussion.

@@Q2tall true but a lot of mangaka fail before finding their groove especially if you want to get into Shonen Jump. So he could surprise you.
That's honestly so true though-
I personally was relieved to know the ending kept everyone alive, because I don't think I could process Emma's death very well if that weren't the case.

The thing that I didn't like about the Tokyo revengers' ending is what they did with Naoto.

Honestly it's kinda unfair to hate on a new series because the authors previous series (that has nothing to do with this current story ) had a bad ending
And why are people whining about the art being bad when the only bad thing that they can say is that sometimes the characters necks are a but too long (which may be how the author personally likes drawing necks), it's not a big deal

Then they are mad when we call them tourist.
Designs are fine, the funny thing is that weird anatomy designs aren't something weird in manga, One piece and even jujutsu kaisen have tons of that, but is a problem here because? (Also when they read some shojo manga they might cry a lot XD).
i mean the fairy tale author was being shat on for the same reasons
Meanwhile majority of western comics are super hero, another super hero, and more super hero.
The style is ugly
Other series character designs don't stand out like a sore thumb, like every character having a giraffe neck. Imagine if this is a prequel to Tokyo revenged like fire force was to soul eater
1:52 hold up is that the actual manga? If it is the author is the greatest troll of all time i almost choked on a cracker when that came up
ita not lmao its exxagerated🤣
@@prodby3clips aww I’m almost disappointed, although I sort of figured as much
If there were already edits of the new manga with long neck, I know this guy would used them for his video instead of actual drawings
I really appreciate the respect you gave Mashima Sensei.
You know what? Color me morbidly curious, because I might give this a read
It’s not TR universe. I am sure Ken Wakui is going for something else related to the lifestyle of Yakuza. TR was more of Yankee delinquents style of storytelling.
America is not everyone😊
I didn't liked the ending of Tokyo Revengers but I still love the story because it was truly entertaining, I will give this new manga
To be honest this author needs to be given a chance.
he was he burnt the kitchen. the one thing I can tell the haters is for them to ignore the author and the new mange.
@@prasunkumar1125 ok
@@prasunkumar1125You guys need to get a life mf just because you don't like his manga that doesn't mean you gonna death threat.
That neck though: 🦒
Gives "long neck" a whole new meaning:🦕
TR is goated these twitter gooners are cooked
People act like the artstyle is egregious. They look way less weird than like, 2/3 of any character from One Piece.
No one was connected to yakuza as well.. i think this guy just has a bias.
anime & manga community in a nutshell:
unrealistic necks are a problem...breasts bigger than a planet aren't.
Am I the only one who thinks this manga is good?
Tokyo revengers should've ended after the time capsule
no the whole point was to save everyone and at the point he didn’t because a lot of people died😂😂
A guy on the weekly shonen jump subreddit made a post about how most places that normally talk about new series reacted and the overall sentiment was positive, sure some disliked the yakuza glorification but the setting of the world made it much easier to see this ciminal organisation has the good guy, most also praised the layout, its made by a veteran on the industry and it shows.
all sides matter. if u dont want this series to be a worldwide success then sure but one audience isnt enough nowadays for manga to be successful.
Seems very silly and disrespectful to hate so much a manga/author over his artstyle or story . You don't like it? don't watch it and let the artist and fans alone. In fact, all that hate generate interest in the work one is throwing sh*t.
Gonna be honest those necks are less long than most tall people in my school
i actually really like the Tokyo Revengers art style , especially the drip designs are amazing , the problem for me was the random explanation for his powers and the ending "spoilers" ...
where nothing matters at the end and everyone becomes friends and how out of nowhere Mikey becomes insufferable and unredeemable just because "dark urges" , i was like , why do we need to save this dude again ?
The last arc was bad but it doesnt make the whole manga "terrible" imo its still a good manga just not good at the end
Using the reddit edits to show the designs was devious. Had me wondering why I never noticed their necks until I realized it was an edit.
3:54 this tells me you didn’t read or watch Tokyo revengers then. No one has supernatural abilities.. other than the time traveling.. no one is even connected to the real yakuza when then were 13 years old.. just because its the same subject matter.. doesn’t’ mean its hte same..
But chibi you buddy King of Lightning loves Tokyo Revengers!
Nah both of them are separated rn, with kol hating on Re zero S2 😂
No he doesn't, at least not season 3, he is on the verge of dropping it
@@kiritsugu5365 thats the joke
@@ness3984 You think, I mean he used to love it
Whats your point? Just because they’re friends doesn’t mean they should like the same things
Honestly, it sounds different enough. It's okay to have more than one series with delinquents. Just like it's okay to hate long necks.
I am now worried people have forgotten about rave master
7:01 i will not take that kagurabachi slander... 32 chapters and its absolute peak, apologize to peakgurabachi now😔
Just watch Windbreaker
I LOVE THE ART STYLE THAT’S FUCKING HILARIOUS
Fairy Tail is great lol the point of the story is Power Of Friendship its like biting into a banana and asking why its not an apple lol.
We watch FT for the power of friendship and its much better than Tokyo Revengers but this is not to say FT doesnt have issues especially the ending/last arc.
bro thinks he's from devil may cry
TR should've ended after Tenjiku. Final Arc was unnecessary
"Reverse Kagurabachi effect" is a good way to put it
As an anime fan i love the ending f the haters
I love it too.
Fr i don’t care if it sucked as long as it ended with all the characters happy
I 100% agree with you. F**k the haters.
Like, what the f does the person who made the video spoiling nonsense about the characters' design in TR being terrible🤷
Meh, in my opinion the manga and anime is mid.
I didn’t mind the ending. The art is little funny tho. The guy has that Candace shape head from phineas and ferb
i liked that art style
Tokyo Revengers had less stakes than MHA of all things.
I never liked Tokyo Revengers to begin with, so dont mind me just sitting here munching on popcorn while the drama unfolds 😁🍿
😂same
The people who actually hate this are whack.
I hope this hate is just coming from the western side 🙏
yeah, the author knows and one can think about the ending for a long time
this actual western side would hate Ashita no Joe's ending too
Most likely, unlike the western side of the anime community, Tokyo Revengers is still pretty loved despite the ending in Japan
The TR ending kinda reminds me of the Katekyo Hitman Reborn ending
yall r insane
instead of giving a chance to the new work yall decided to bring the tokyo revengers ending. thats yall only excuse. stop bringing tokyo revengers bro its over its not time for this new work so focuse on it
Yea it’s odd doing the very same kind of story, usually mangaka are great for completely changing genre. I read Wicked Trapper a few weeks ago and he said he only did slice of life before it, and you’d never think that by this story, because it goes hard, I loved it, but was really annoyed that it’s only 4 volumes, wish it was longer.
Gege is next
