    Steve can't believe Tesla just posted its first ever annual revenue decline - down to $94.8 billion from $97.7 billion - while Q4 net income collapsed 61%. Vehicle deliveries dropped 9% globally for their second consecutive year of decline, and this is happening inside a growing EV market. BYD has overtaken Tesla as the world's largest EV manufacturer. European sales cratered 28% while the European EV market grew 27%. In Germany, where Tesla built a gigafactory, sales crashed 48% - and they're down 72% from their 2022 peak. Tesla's brand value has more than halved since 2023, their recommendation score has plummeted from 8.2 to 4 out of 10, and they now rank below Temu in corporate reputation. Elon Musk's response? Cancel the cheap car, discontinue the Model S and X, and spend $20 billion on robots and robotaxis that generate zero revenue. This is what happens when the world's richest man decides he'd rather post memes and play politics than run his car company.

      It gets worse too, a lot of people overlook the fact that the one time in his emails with Epstein where he seemingly declined an invite to the island, Musk quite plainly said that the island seemed too peaceful for him to go at that time, think about it, Elon told Epstein that his ch*ld r*pe island was too peaceful for him because he was looking to cut loose and party...I'm surprised people aren't talking about that more

      @blackrahk2037 Plenty of ways to legally move profits or losses around a spread sheet for a year or two so the books aren't cooked, YET.
      DOGE gutted the FTC which was already understaffed and couldn't begin to do their job before DOGE, so Musk knows he's safe when it's time to cook the books.

      His talking is what allowed this company to get anywhere near a trillion dollar valuation in the first place. Even if you’re saying that him getting involved with politics was the fatal mistake, I’d argue that ultimately it may not have made a difference. The stock has never been valued on the fundamentals of a car company and that’s because of his “corporate puffery.” So yeah, you’d think that his exaggerations and lies will trash this company eventually, but there’s a huge chance that he ends up coming out far richer than if he played it closer to reality from the start (even if it means that Tesla and all his ardent supporters pay the price). Unfortunately this is the type of person that our civilization rewards.

    • @terig5584
      @terig5584 23 days ago

      @blikje_in_de_waterthat isn’t really my point, it is that Tesla isn’t valued as a car company and never has been. And outside of Elon’s talking, his refusal to create new models outside of the Cyberfail was going to hurt sales no matter what. Probably not as bad and as quickly as it’s happened but again, that’s has had absolutely no negative impact on the share price. Hell, you might be able to more easily argue that their declining sales have helped their stock, that’s how far through the looking glass we are with this company.

      @terig5584 23 days ago +4

      @P@PeteOttons, exactly my point! This is in response to the original comment saying that Elon should have shut up. In a world like that, then Tesla shares are what? $15? Company is worth 20x less? Sure, then maybe they’d have a better financial future, but Musk and a lot of other people are going to get rich, I’d bet. At what point would Elon not talking really improved their current position, as sad a commentary on society as that is?

      The people that don’t emphasise Musk being “the richest man on earth” instead of him being the genius of a century, that works on a whole different level.

    "AI" and robots aren't going to save anything, it's a grift. They have their uses in industry and research etc, but 99% of it is being used to dumdown, co-opt and spread endless misinformation through endless fake social media accounts, and also to implement total and constant mass surveillance and control of every aspect of people's lives... You can be sure who are investing so powerfully in that and why. People seriously need to smell the coffee when it comes to what AI is being used for.

      And only GM could destroy European brands. It only took less than 20 years for GM to bankrupt SAAB, and nearly ruin Opel/Vauxhall, took crysler less than a few months to waste most of the money diamler gave, and a jealous US ceo of a different comoany joined Nokia and destroyed Nokia in less then a few months.

      Thing is, his cars are pretty good! But if you are a complete shitstain of a person, if you shit all over the market you critically require to exist (IE educated informed people, or people that are not invested in the oil industry) don't be surprised when you lose market share.

    • @weirdferretthing
      @weirdferretthing 23 days ago +17

      @meateaw They aren't his cars. They're Tesla's cars. He did not found the company, despite his insistence on being called a founder, he bought the actual founders out. And the one and only time he had any kind of real hand in the design and engineering process of any of their vehicles... is the Cybertruck. Which is a steaming pile of stainless steel dogshit.
      And they're only 'pretty good' because the US market is so isolated by inane, anti-competitive protectionist trade policy that they have no real competition. By all indicators; Chinese EVs would mop the floor with Tesla if they were allowed to be sold here.

      He never stole tax payers money. The way EPA credits worked was that fines from the federal government for 15 years of not meeting the environmental standars were so high that is was a lot cheaper for the polluting manufacturers to purchase the ev credits from Tesla, from Rivian and a few other manufacturers than to pay the fines. Now about 1,000,000 people in the world die of lung problems caused by automotive emission. The quota of the US will incease as the Presidenrt eliminated the enviromental requirements of all vehicles.

      Tesla is betting on their power banks, power arbitrage, robotics and AI businesses - very risky. They are in the process of shifting away from consumer automobiles - also very risky. That's where the valuation comes from. They are priced like a Silicon Valley startup with all the risk of a startup. Their current revenue is very dependent on auto manufacturing, but the market is just betting big on the other stuff. That is, the stock market does not view Tesla as a car company - and neither does Tesla. Hence why they are valued more that Toyota.

Some examples, drive a car, ride a bike, pull something up, carry something smoothly up stairs, groom/walk a dog. The goal is not to make new accessories. Tell the robot to “cut paper” it grabs the $2 scissors in the draw and puts its fingers in the holes. Not only if you buy a Boston dynamics $300 scissor attachment
